Kabili didn’t know much of why Simba needed him to see Timon or Pumbaa.
Timon had introduced himself properly the day that he and the king talked. But he figured he must have had his reasons for it. Maybe he had some information on the other humans? Who knew. But Bili did like the falls so he didn’t complain. Plus it got him away from the constant preparation going on around him.
He couldn’t believe in a few days he’d be christened into the royal family. It all seemed surreal, like it’d happened in a blink. Even if it had been some time since he’d actually arrived at Pride Rock. Was he ready for this? What about the Pridelands? Who knew.
Either way, he pushed these thoughts aside as he entered the area he knew to be the home of Timon and Pumbaa at least from the description he got. “Timon? Pumbaa? Are you guys home?” He called out,

As he entered the area he heard the crashing of the falls, and the buzzing, and munching of bugs. "Mm, burrrp!" he would hear, as a strange creature rose from his laying position. Short and blue, with long white hair. "Nobody here but me!" he called, eating another juicy bug. It was only then he actually looked at Kabili, "Oh, you've got to be Billy!" he asked, "I'm Bunga!" he said.
Bunga rolled forward, into a flip, and landed with a flourish in front of Kabili. "You want some grubs?" he asked with a grin, as he extended his paw, which held a handful of different sized and colored bugs, which crawled around his arm, leaving slime all over the extended paw.

Kabili jumped back a bit.
Honesty having not seen Bunga there did startle him a little bit, but not too badly. But what did surprise him was that he was literally... Eating bugs? Ok so that wasn’t too crazy, some human cultures were into that too. But those things were literally alive.
Either way, Kabili smiled a little. He’d heard about Bunga of course, Simba and Nala had basically gone over the entirety of the family so he didn’t get confused. “Yeah, I uh... Yeah that’s me,” Kabili commented. “Nice to finally meet you. Though I wow... I assumed when dad said you were my uncle you’d be...” older than him? Yeah that was probably what he was looking to say without insulting him.
“Uhhh are you eating live bugs?” He asked when he couldn’t handle it anymore,

Bunga laughed, "A lion? No that's his uncle. You're not-so-great great uncle!" he assumed. He could tell Kabili wasn't thrilled by the grubs, and so he ate one with a slurp, and set them down to talk proper. His paws were slimy, and he reeked of bugs and "nature". "Of course I am, it's what my uncles eat too! They said the king ate nothing but grubs in the jungle!." he said, before he got up close, and put those slimy paws around Kabili in a side hug, "It's going to be great having another guy friend. Especially if you learn to love gruuubs~" he said encouragingly.

Kabili crossed his arms and leaned against a tree.
Honestly that worked since it was less likely to insult the kid. Sure he want a lion but the human hadn’t expected him to be. Simba has made it clear that a lot of their family was “born in the heart” which had just helped cement how he felt about it. “Right, dad told me that he and I aren’t the only adopted members of the family,” he chuckled a little. “I guess I wasn’t expecting... You’re a porcupine right?”
Dang he knew that Simba ate bugs but he ate grubs the whole time? That was some crazy stuff. Though he wouldn’t say anything because he was still learning a lot about the different cultures of the Pridelands. “Yeah I’ve noticed that there are a lot of girls out this way,” he admitted, having yet to see many guys to make friends with outside of Kion. “Maybe one of these days I’ll try grubs. I’m still getting used to the diet out here. It was way different back... Where I come from.”
He had almost said home, but of course that wasn’t accurate anymore.

Bunga kept his big grin, "Oh yeah, Timon and Pumbaa adopted us both, just not at the same time. Makes things kind of weird!" he chuckled, "I'm a honey badger!" he corrected, "Porcupines are a lot smaller." he held up his hands at about the size of a porcupine, smaller than his head.
He nodded "Yeah lions are weird, you have like an army of girls that follow you." he said, "I couldn't stand living with a family like that." he said, implying he had quite low standards to call someone family!
"Oh yeah, I heard you were weird about food, just like me! But different! What do you say, you try some delicious grubs, and I try what you like?" he said, he wasn't the type to back down, but he also wasn't rude either! He just, spoke his mind.

A honey badger! Huh? He wondered if there was much difference between it and a normal one? Who knew! “I don’t think I’ve ever seen a honey badger before. Are you guys really different from other badgers?” Come to think of it had he seen any kind of badger?
Bili did chuckle a little about his comment on all the girls. Well he definitely didn’t agree with that, that’s for sure. “I mean they’re cool and all. Where I come from I just had a mom,” he explained. “So I’m used to girls anyway.”
Looking at the grubs, he decided what the hey? Wasn’t this like a delicacy in some cultures anyway? Taking a small ladybug, and with some resistance he swallowed it. The results were... About what one expected. “Uhhhh are they supposed to be that... Crunchy?” He asked.

Bunga smiled, "Well you have now! Make sure you see my good side! he said, posing for a moment for his little joke. Yeah, Fuli is better than like... Tiifu. he said her name with the same derision most used for him.
He grinned ear to ear as Kabili actually took his offer! He tried not to show how rare this might be. "Ooh ladybugs are some of the crunchiest. If you want chewy and slimy, go for the pillbugs. I call them rollie-pollies." he laughed. "Great! Now you owe me a bite of your food." he grinned, did he just outsmart a human? In his mind he did at least!

Oh so he knew Fuli too! Nice. Kabili seemed like he was at least making friends in the right places. “Yeah I’m starting to kinda get to know everyone, slowly,” he admitted. “For a while it was harder. Especially since I was technically a guest. But everyone seems to be trying to make me feel welcome now.”
Yeah, he figured he’d pass on that. Big time. “Ha, maybe later,” he then made an “oh” motion with his mouth. “I uh... Can’t show you all my food but I can introduce you to my fruits and stuff.” After all he remembered how Simba had wanted him to keep the cooked food between them for now. “I got some really good stuff I was doing with them when I wasn’t feeling the meat. Since y’know I’m an omnivore technically.”

Bunga nodded, "Yeah I don't know how we haven't met before. It's great that you are here to stay!" he smiled. "If you ever want to hang out, or play, or anything, I've got all the time ever since Kion had to start doing the whole Lion Guard thing." he chuckled, "He really needs to recruit for it or something... I offered but he... had a point when he said no." he didn't let that get him down though.
He wagged his finger at the food, "No maybe about it, but I can wait." he grinned. "Feel free to rack up a debt if you want." he gestured to a log, where Kabili could see the bugs crawling around. "Nah, I'm kidding! Eat all you want." he really loved grubs, that was clear, that and talking. "Fruit? Well, if it's something new, I want to know about it!"

Kabili chuckled.
Though he was pretty sure he had seen Bunga before, from a distance. After all, he hadn’t even been friends with Kion until literally a day before he joined the family. “Yeah, Kion does take his job pretty seriously. So I can see what you mean,” he admitted honestly. “But I’m sure he’d still be game to hang out and play. Just gotta ask, right?”
Then again, he was never against making friends. So he wouldn’t totally mind hanging out either. “Honestly, I’d love to hang out. I’ve made a few friends, it’s good to have stuff to do between duties I know are coming and all.” He added.
He only smiled and gave a thumbs up when he mentioned getting more grubs. Fat chance, snowballs chance in hell in fact, but still. “Sounds good, follow me,” he explained. “Your dad’s actually have the best fruit out here. Ironically.”

Bunga smiled, "Oh we still do, just only like, half as much?" he guessed, "We used to be together all the time! If you can bunga-believe it!" he laughed, "Yeah we could all play sometime, ever play Baobab Ball?" he grinned. "If not we can teach ya!"
"Sure thing, Kabili! I'll stick to you like slime on a slug." he said, once they got moving he would hop to all fours.

Baobab ball? Was that like a sport? The teen brightened up a bit actually. He’d always been an active and sporty kid. So the thought they may have sports here actually excited him. “Is that like a sport? Man I used to play baseball back home!” He said excited. “I’d love to learn.”
Kabili chuckled, that was sure one way to make an analogy he thought as he started to lead Bunga away. “Now what can I use...?” He told himself quietly. “Let’s see, bannanas, maybe some coconut?” He wondered if the latter even grew in this part of the Savannah.

Man this kid sure was agreeable, or was he just that bored, either way Bunga was happy! But, he was also always happy. "Sure is! It's simple really, it's like playing catch but way better." he laughed, "You can't play Baobab Ball, without a Baobab Fruit! So you will have to get one." he said, clearly putting the work on his soon to be nephew!
He dashed along at Kabili's side, "Use for what?" he asked curiously, "You eat 'em don't you? Or are you going to bang them together and pretend you're a zebra?" he asked, his tone didn't really suggest sarcasm, but a genuine silly question.

Ohhhh so he had a fruit to find? Well Bili definitely liked a challenge if nothing else! It seemed like Bunga really was speaking his language, or so he hoped. “I played all kinds of stuff back in the human world. So I’m sure it won’t be too hard,” he said with a bit of overconfidence. “I’m just glad that we have sports. I was really gonna miss that and movies.”
He did however give a little involuntary snort when he mentioned he’d never mixed fruit before. This guy hadn’t lived! Sure it wasn’t exactly a smoothie but damn did it taste good. “You’ll see what I mean,” he replied with a grin. “I promise you’ll like it.”
