Domestic...Liki wondered what that meant, but listened to the rest of the explanation to attempt to figure it out. Tiny felines and canines...
He imaged up miniature lions and...probably he meant Wild Dogs more than Hyenas, who were like their own category of similiar animals.
Liki didn't understand it in the way that Sam's birth mother would have, with official long named categories, but in a simpler way, more accurate perhaps for coming from said animals themselves, they had the same way of thinking.
"Oh, wow...so a lot of smaller...", he tried to guess and put into context, though he knew that might not be fully true, he also trusted Sam to know he didn't mean everything, but it sounded like most things were smaller. "Well, if your territories are smaller, that makes sense!".
A stream or such would be a very good thing for it to be! Liki wasn't afraid, not fully...but caution kept tiny things like him alive. He felt confident with the prince with him, though, and would have explored it either-way as well, yes.
He followed, at first behind, but then beside Sam, as eager as him to see. He wasn't sure if it was the suggestion of it being water, but...now that it was suggested, that was what it sounded like to the piglet!

Smaller territories probably did have a lot to do with it.
Or at least he would assume it did. But he couldn’t really tell - as humans he once thought humans had the most “territory” but now he wasn’t so sure. How many hidden worlds like the Pridelands existed? “Yeah their territory is smaller. This place is…” Sam paused as he thought. “Well I don’t know how much bigger. But just seems to never end.”
He could feel the fear in Liki’s look and movement.
Honestly, he was a little nervous himself as he crept closer to whatever the noise was. “Uhhhh should I be worried?” He asked. “I mean there might not be bears but are there big predators that live in caves around here?”
That… Was not a pleasant thought.

Liki nodded as Sam said that they were kind of squeezed in, territory wise. "Wow, I couldn't imagine being so squeezed in".
Honestly this was deeper into a cave than Liki would have gone, by himself, but that was partly just due to how careful he had to be as a tiny piglet when his sounder wasn't nearby. It should have unnerved him more, the prince he was taking comfort from being nervous also, but as he thought on the answer, he realized they were probably ok.
"Nothing that would bother us once we mentioned your parents. I don't want to run into a stripped-weasel, but they're ok if you're not a mouse, and we're more likely to come across a mouse or mole I would think".
Or was he reassuring himself?
Liki paused as they got to the corner and took a breath or two before he peered around. Oh it was water! He saw the dripping bit of stream and walked up to it. "Oh, it was just...", at a sudden cracking sound he paused, then, speaking of moles, a tiny golden mole jumped on his back, "Hey, get out!".
Liki yelled and ran behind Sam, partly trying to dislodge him and partly thinking the prince could handle this better.

Sam did not like the way that Liki said that.
Honestly he was not willing to hedge his bets on the fledgling family he’d found. And then… Well. Oh. Thank god it was just water. Unfortunately it was short lived as the second that Liki panicked? So did Sam! He jumped with a yelp! Not at all helped by the fact he was hiding behind him.
At least until he saw the mole.
A full few seconds passed before he laughed. Honestly, the damn mole of all things had gotten him good. “Ha! It was a mole!” He pointed out. “Man I think we both screamed a little TOO loud.” He joked.

"A mean mole...", Liki whispered. Despite Sam laughing it off, the piglet was not convinced they were in the clear just yet. That mole looked a bit too mean as he stood there, glaring at them or...trying to? He faced them, but his eyes didn't seem to focus. Wait...or where were his eyes?
Curiosity getting the better of him, Liki stepped out farther and sniffed at the mole. "A-are you blind?". The mole whacked his snout, "Not too blind to hit intruders!".
Rather than run again, Liki just shook his head as he stepped back and grinned back at Sam. "Yeah, I guess we did; and we just surprised him".
He turned back to the mole, "And we're not intruding, just exploring".

Sam had to giggle a little.
Well, it wasn't nice to whack Liki. But he could understand that he startled the mole. What intrusion like this wouldn't. Getting on his knees a little he decided to examine it. It was honestly the first time he'd seen a mole and it was definitely interesting to think it might have been blind. "Wait, are all moles blind or something?" He asked. "What kind of question is that?" He asked as he tilted his head.
At that point, he decided it was best to address the critter himself. "Sorry to startle you though, Mr. Mole. Honestly, we didn't realize there would be anyone making a home this deep." He offered.

Sam had the better answer, and being honest and all about the fact that they really had been intruding, intended or otherwise. Now that the shock of it all was over, Liki started to get some of his courage back and with a small gulp stepped out. "Y-yeah...sorry", he added.
Then what Sam had said registered and, as he looked closer, he could tell that the mole was blind!
"Hey, but...if you're blind...how did you manage to hit me?", he asked, leaning down to sniff at the mole, who gave him a lighter smack on the snout, if just to get him to back up.
"I got other senses you know!". This time Liki just laughed, "Right sorry".

Heh, other senses indeed.
At least, Sam had thought he heard somewhere that people that were blind were heightened in other places. So he guessed it could be true for other animals too! “That’s kind of cool, I heard that people who are blind have like superhuman senses,” he said. Maybe trying to turn this conversation around. “That makes you kind of awesome, y’know?”
Deciding to further make an attempt to win brownie points he decided to at least introduce themselves. “I’m Sam by the way,” he explained. “The one you hit is Liki.”

Liki glanced between Sam and the mole, curious about what Sam said about Special Abilities. "Can you feel really well also?", he asked.
The mole looked a bit annoyed. "Of course not, that's not a thing!". He sighed and seemed to be working on his way to calming down. "Sorry, I just don't do well with intruders. Nice to meet you both. I'm Kuchimba...and sorry for hitting you", he added, turning in Liki's direction again and able to find him by both smell and where his voice had come from.
He next gave a small smile as Sam said he was awesome. "Well it takes a lot of skill to navigate these tunnels without sight yes", he slightly bragged.
Liki looked interested. "How far back do they go?".
"Oh the tunnels are extensive!", he went on, "Why? You two aren't lost are you?".
