Sam nodded as he pointed out how nice his new siblings were. Sure they were still getting used to having siblings. But at the end of the day both were very bouncy and Kion’s sense of duty was definitely admirable. “Yeah they both seem awesome. We’re still getting used to each other... Well at least I am,” he admitted. “I kinda haven’t had siblings before. I love it though.”
Oh no! He didn’t want the pig to think he was lazy. Holding his hands up and shaking his head he replied quickly. “Nah, it’s fine. I’m a pretty active guy,” he said as he rubbed hands together. “I got this. It’s just one tree, how hard can it be?”
He hopped on with less reluctance. Beginning his admittedly slow attempt.

"Oh I only had one brother before", Liki tried to keep his voice upbeat, and Before was all he usually had to say to any other animals around the Pride Lands for them to understand, before said brother was taken by predators, along with his parents.
"Now it's just me and others of my Sounder".
Sam shrugged off the worry and quickly began climbing the tree. Liki watched, already just impressed by his trying and since it was more than the piglet could do!

Sam frowned a little.
That must have been hard. Honestly, he couldn’t imagine losing your parents - and your sibling. Hell, until now he couldn’t imagine having a big family to lose. But he also could tell that the kid was trying to be upbeat about his life, so he at least kept an optimistic point of view about it.
“Well, at least you have your sounder... Wait what is a sounder anyway?”
He called this down as he was slowly climbing. Though he had to admit he was getting a little more nervous the higher up he got. Sam was hardly afraid of heights but free climbing was its own ballpark. “I can’t tell, am I almost there?” He called down.

"Oh, that's what a group of pigs is called", and the only group of pigs Liki had ever seen, the bushpig boars about the Pride Lands. "Yep, and Lions are a Pride, of course, um there's Herds and I don't remember all of them", he listed off the few he could recall like a kid listing off his lessons and as he also watched Sam's climbing progress.
"Yeah, yeah, it's that branch just above your head!", he called encouragingly and tilted his head as he continued to watch, hoping Sam wouldn't come tumbling out of the tree and since he was climbing so tensely now.

Ah! That made sense.
Sam had been learning those things too. With the strangest one to him being that crocodiles had been a float. Of all things you called them a float! It honestly had made him chuckle a little when he’d heard that. “That’s a pretty cool name!” He called out. “Honestly I’m still trying to keep those straight. There’s so many different names.”
Just above his head? Cool! That shouldn’t be that hard right? He peered up at the branch in question. Finding it with a deep breath, he reached forward... And nearly lost his footing! Whoa! Yikes! Sam breathed in, shock evident. “H-ollly shit.” He muttered. “Ok I can do this.”
With another hand he reached out, hand trembling. Though he finally got a firm hold. “Ha! Got it!” Now the question would be getting down.

Liki nodded as Sam said he had trouble remembering the names sometimes, "I know, I called a float a herd once...crocodiles don't like when you do that by the way". Thankfully his Sounder had been nearby so the croc (probably Makuu) had only glared and corrected him, putting in a comment about being careful what you said to a Crocodile.
The piglet gave a worried oink as Sam almost fell then breathed his own sigh of relief as he didn't. "Yay!", he cheered as Sam got the orange, then, as the boy paused, realized he might not know the best way down. Liki looked himself, "Ok, now I think you just put your foot on that branch you just came from...uh I can help tell you if you got it before you put your foot down if you want".
It was about the only help he felt he could offer from the ground.

Ha! He had a feeling that was true.
Of course Sam didn’t know a ton about crocodiles. But he did know enough to know that they were a grumpy sort. They and Alligators were a source of a lot of human fears after all. “Yeah I don’t think I’d want to get too close to a croc anyway,” he admitted. “They eat humans. At least where I come from.”
Sam nodded his head a little. Ok that was a good idea. The last thing he wanted to have to explain to the lions was that he had broken his leg. That would be a whole story to tell. “Good idea. I’m gonna try to start my way down,” he managed shakily as he stuck one foot down toward the branch. Barely making it. “Am I doing alright?” He asked.

"Oh! Pigs too!", Liki wasn't aware that this, and crocs eating pigs, was a fact Sam would have known already and he kind of enjoyed the small bit of understanding it created, or that he felt it did. Kiara and Kion were great, but as predators at pretty much the top of the food chain they didn't always really understand what it was to be prey.
Of course Sam was actually closer to that than the piglet knew, but he took even the small bit of understanding about crocs trying to eat you that he got...and even if they would try to eat Kion or Kiara too if they didn't fear King Simba. Actually...
"Well if you're the other prince now, I guess you don't have to worry about that. I don't think even the mean crocs would upset King Simba by eating his son".
Liki squinted, "Yes...just a bit more over...", he trusted that Sam would feel when he made it and just helped with directional cues.

Sam snorted. He guessed that was a good point.
Honestly he wouldn’t mind getting close to or getting to know one in a way. Like lions, crocodiles hardly were studied in close quarters by humans because they were indeed prey. Imagine the chance! “It’d be kinda cool to meet one on neutral terms that way,” Sam admitted. “Don’t worry though, I wouldn’t have you around me. Or I’d call immunity or something. I don’t know, could I do that?”
The thought helped him straighten himself onto the branch due to a needed distraction from his fear. Whoo. Taking a deep breath he began a slow, easy descent down before tossing one of the fruits to Liki. “Man, I really need to think that through better next time.” He managed as he bit into his own.

Sam still admitted he wanted to meet one, though promised that Liki could not be nearby if he did. "Ok, thanks, yeah I think I'm to easy of a bite sized snack to come along", he admitted. For crocodiles anyway.
Immunity...
"Maybe...though I'd rather we knew first if it did count". Now Liki was hoping he didn't sound too much like a coward. He caught and bit through the rind of the orange Sam tossed him. "Thanks, yeah, but I'm still very glad you went up there, though you don't have to do it again, still, very helpful, just like Kion" he said.

That was fair.
Honestly who would want to become bacon to some croc’s dinner anyway? Hell he was probably never going to look at bacon the same way again now - given he had just befriended a pig. Was that even in a lion’s diet? He hoped not because this would just make their relationship from there on out awkward
Sam smirked at his comment about not having to go up there again at least. “Yeah I would make sure I knew for sure if you were with me,” he added honestly. “But yeah, I think I’ll stay closer to the ground for a while. I’m not even afraid of heights but man that was high.”
He sat on the grass and looked at Liki. “I hope I can be helpful more though. If I’m going to be a prince I don’t want to be one that just sits around all day.” He admitted. Especially as someone who came from poverty.

"Well depends on where I am with the heights", Liki admitted and added to Sam's comment. Edge of a sturdy cliff was different than edge of a crumbling one.
The piglet nodded as Sam said he wanted to be useful. "Yeah, I mean most animals I meet feel that way, Help the Herd, or Sounder or Pride", as it would be for them. He thought a bit, "But I don't know what royals do to be helpful. Well, Kion sort of protects, maybe...you could help him with that?". Liki didn't feel it was a good suggestion but it was the best he had at the moment.

True, it definitely depended on that. After all Pride Rock was indeed a very steady structure as opposed to free falling off a damn tree! “True. I love the view from Pride Rock personally for example,” Sam replied. “The first time Simba took me to see it I was just blown away.”
Sam nodded in understanding as the pig explained. Though he did understand that Liki was probably right. The royal family did have to work but they had a lot of freedom and didn’t always have to contribute everything. “I went hunting with Nala. But they say I shouldn’t have to do it all the time, the lionesses pride themselves on doing it a lot,” he then admitted. “They say I’ll find my duty when the time comes. But I don’t want to interject worth the Guard. That’s Kion’s thing, y’know?”

"Oh really! What's it like?", Liki asked in rapt interest. As a humble little piglet he had, of course, never seen it and would probably not ever have a chance, but he wasn't bringing attention to that and was happy enough to just hear of it.
Even as a prey species, he could imagine up a comparison for himself of hunting with the Queen and Royal Family, and root hunting or something, and the talk didn't make him uncomfortable. It was the Circle of Life, after all and the royal family was fair about it. "Yeah, that's what I heard too. Thankfully my Sounder's hardly ever on the menu so it's not too awkward". He nodded at the point about not just doing Kion's Thing. "Well I'm sure you'll find it".
As Liki munched down the oranges he pondered what next to do. He didn't want to force it, but also didn't want to waste this time with one of the princes, one and one. "So...are there any cool human games?". There was bound to be something the Pride Lands didn't know about.

What was it like? It was probably the first time Sam realized that most animals did not get to see that view really. Taking a deep breath he shook his head. “It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen in my life,” Sam replied honestly. “You can see the entire kingdom from there. Everything. Even some of the others...”
Oh thank god they weren’t always on the menu. Though he could honestly say he wouldn’t mind a little bacon (not that he’d tell him). “Yeah I think they’ve got a few ideas for me. At least I think.” He shrugged.
Oh? Human games? That was a good question. Honestly he wished he had his sports equipment or comics. “Oh man, we have so many. Mostly we like to play a lot of sports!” He explained. “If there’s one thing I want to show the other animals here when I get the chance it’s those.”
