Timon had decided he’d given the kids enough space.
At this point Sam, or whatever he was going to be named, had probably had plenty of time to settle in. So he felt that he could come and introduce himself properly while also telling Simba about what he had discovered while keeping an eye on the humans he’d been spotting in his neck of the woods.
Of course, the way to Pride Rock was a real walk. But he figured it would be worth it, given he hadn’t seen Simba in quite a bit now. “Man I always get this part wrong. Was it a right or a left or...?” He paused and tried to think of it. “Aw come on, this shouldn’t be that hard!” He groaned.
Of course standing in the middle of the Savannah like a sitting duck was probably a bad idea but still.

Bandit made his way into the Pridelands, by now he had learned that he was not exactly welcome in the Pridelands, but not everybody knew that yet. He spotted a meerkat out on his lonesome, and snuck up on him. He had his jackal skills at times like these, and he needed those friends to change the royal family's minds.
"Little guy! 'ey!" he called, "Over here! I'm talking to ya!" he said, as he approached, making his presence obvious only once he was close it would be rude to run off. "I'm lookin' for Mufasa!" Bandit claimed.

Timon nearly jumped out of his skin.
Honestly how many times did he have to tell the mooks out here? You did not sneak up on a poor meerkat like that! Spinning around, he saw of all things, a jackal. Really... Of all the things he didn’t think to encounter today it was going to be a jackal?
Wait did he say... Mufasa? Wasn’t that the kids dad? What was this guy getting at? “You’re a couple years late to that one buddy,” Timon told him rather honestly. Not liking being the bearer of bad news but still. “Mufasa’s been dead a while now. If you’re looking for the king, that’s Simba these days.”

He gave a friendly smile, but his sharp teeth didn't do him any favors... but he did have a goofy sort of look about him. Quite disarming, when he wanted to be he could look goofier and dumber than a hyena.
He stared. "Mufasa, he's...?" he lowered his ears, but used it as an opportunity to get closer to the meerkat. "But I came all this way..." he frowned, "Simba? Mom and pop never told me about no kids." he said, "Well, I'm Bandit." he offered his paw eagerly, "Prince Bandit of Rabia." he said, tongue hanging out. "Who are you? Don't uh, mole guys like you live ya know?" he pointed down to the ground with his other paw.

Timon nodded his head.
He hoped he hadn’t made the guy too upset - after all, he didn’t know many people who had been around for Mufasa’s reign. Maybe they were close? He couldn’t imagine what was going through the guy’s head if he had been. “Yeah, it’s a long story,” Timon replied. “But Simba’s a good guy, I should know. I raised him since he was a cub. But yeah he’s in charge, has his own kids now too.”
Ah! A prince! That was interesting. Though given he just had his word to go by he didn’t exactly bow. “Name’s Timon. And ew that stereotype is exactly why I left my colony,” Timon replied. “I was actually on my way to see his majesty myself. Lots of weird stuff going on lately and I’m overdue for an explanation. Plus y’know, intel of my own.”

The jackal hummed. "Well that's good! I was about to say things look just as good as mom an' dad always said the Pridelands was." he smiled. He stared at Timon. "Now wait a minute." He pointed at Timon, "Now how did your son become king of the Pridelands?" he asked, confused. "I thought Simba would be ya know, a lion?" He of course knew, but he wanted to play dumb, and dumb he could be. His tail twitched as he held in a wag.
"Yeah I tell ya, stereotypes. You know what they say about jackals?" he asked with an eyeroll, curious if he knew anything about them.
"A whole lot sure happened since we left..." he hummed, "Then you got more stuff here lately?! What's all going on around here?" he asked, eager to learn anything he could before everyone knew to kick him out.

“Oh Simba is a lion! That’s what makes the story long. But kid needed a dad and he got two let’s just put it that way,” Timon never gave out the story to other people. Not when it was the kid’s story to tell after all. “He made his papa so proud if you know what I mean.”
Timon... Didn’t know much about Jackals admittedly. Just that they often looked pretty creepy. “Eh outside of the sharp teeth and predator status I can’t say I know a whole lot.” He shrugged a little.
Ohhh gossip! Timon was always ready to talk about the weird shit that happened around here. “Well maybe I should start with these giant birds called “planes” falling out of the sky,” he then added. “And I may be a grandpa a third time over. Which is really new. I’m actually on my way to see what’s going on there matter o fact.”

The jackal sat for a moment "Ohhh..." he said suddenly, "I get it. Wow poor guy..." he took Timon not wanting to say more, as it being a sad story. "Yeah I can say he did. I was hoping he'd be proud of all us jackals and Rabia but, well." he frowned.
He was pleased that Timon didn't know anything about jackals, which... maybe meant they were super vulnerable here. He remembered the sadness about Mufasa and Simba, to keep from showing it. "Yeah well... They aren't nice I tell ya that. " he said, they were true too, but details.
It seemed to take a moment for Bandit to "Planes? Out of the sky?" he looked up as if expecting one to fall. "I ain't never seen a plane. Well I've seen a plain like this one." he pointed out to the grassy savannah, "But they just kind of are there." he patted the ground. "...Right?" He tilted his head, "Oh yeah I want to make my dad a grandpa too. But first I have my mission!" he smiled proudly, it was time he shared some of his story.
"Dad wanted me to ask Mufasa to be our friend, like, country friend. I'll have to get Simba on board, which is harder cause he doesn't know how much Mufasa meant to us." he sighed. "Especially me. But yeah we have like our country but we need to spread the word, and um..." he leaned in close to whisper, "Between you and me, we could reaaallly use someone strong to keep us from being invaded again."

Timon had to think.
Did they even have jackals in the Pridelands? He didn’t want to discourage the guy but he had not actually seen any. Still he did listen to all that the kid had to say with a slow nod. “I mean Simba’s pretty reasonable so I’m sure you’ll hear you out,” he said with a matter of fact tone.
As for planes... Timon shook his head and threw his hands up. “Planes are like these giant silver birds I guess and they carry lots of these monkey things called humans,” he explained. “It’s all really, really weird if you ask me. But we’ll, what can I say?”
Ah. That was interesting - so he was coming to make an alliance. Well, god knew Simba needed plenty of those right? “So you’ve been invaded before? Well that’s no good,” he pointed out. “I know Simba’s pretty reasonable like I said so I’m sure he’d like to help. It’s just a matter of how you approach it.”

Bandit was curious, but this was exactly what he had hoped for. So Simba was the kind of guy who would give them a chance. Though the more he talked the less he could play dumb, he would be careful. "That... huh that don't sound like an animal..." He had seen Kabili already, so he knew the 'monkeys' were too big to really be birds.
"Well uh..." he hummed, while Timon was being nice he might catch on if he asked too blatantly. "Huh, you are the closest thing to Mufasa, if you're Simba's new dad." he chuckled as the thought came to mind. "Don't tell anyone, Timon... I don't think we'll have a chance if he thinks we're weak."

Timon nodded his head.
Though he also had never been the best at keeping secrets. Like at all. Why was everyone always trusting him with his secrets? He always cracked under pressure! “I mean I’ll do my best. I sometimes crack under pressure,” he chewed his figurative nails as he said that. “That’s the other thing I need to talk to the king about. Ahhh he’s gonna be so maddd.”
He then added. “Which may work in your favor.”

Bandit blinked, "You know, you should warn people about that before they tell you secrets." he said, he frowned... "How is that gonna work in my favor? If he's mad he won't want to talk to a foreigner who is wanting things from him. Even if it's a pretty sweet deal. I uh... erm." he had a look of guilt on his face. "Especially cause his dad exiled us when I was a pup..."

Timon crossed his arms.
He doubted how angry he was going to be at Timon, rather than anyone else. After all, he had heard word get around that Zira had threatened the kid. And if this was really Simba’s new kid then god help him. Simba tended to be very protective of his kids.
“Let me put it this way. You didn’t almost feed your grandkid to a rabid lioness.”
Wait, exiled? Well that might have been a different story. Yikes! What had they done to get exiled? Honestly Mufasa had appeared to be chill. “Scratch that, we may be on an even playing field. A lot has happened in the last few years, y’know?”

Bandit humphed. "The way mom and dad talk about Mufasa? The Brave, the Kind, The Wise?" he smiled. "If Simba is half the king his dad was, back when they lived here... he would understand." He sighed. "I wonder if anyone even knows our story, it happened so long ago." he hummed.
"Yeah I bet, there's so many questions." he sighed. "But yeah... I mean, this isn't no secret. See way back when I was born, I dunno why but Mufasa was all 'Jackals, it is my decree that you are EXILED!'" Bandit shivered. "But mom was like, ya know, not long from..." he gestured to his stomach, "having me..." he blushed "Anyway so he let us stay until we was ready to be exiled." he smiled.

Timon know that much was probably true.
But at the same time he definitely couldn’t help but feel guilty. He blamed the fact that he had always been the happiest when his family was happy. Which meant that he couldn’t deal with guilt easily. “Eh, maybe you’re right,” Timon replied honestly. “But it ain’t easy disappointing your kid y’know.”
Ah. That definitely sounded interesting. Though he could only imagine why the Jackals were exiled. Other than maybe they weren’t all as chill as this guy in front of him. “Yeah, well, sometimes it just takes one guy to ruin it for everyone y’know,” he pointed out. “Someone probably screwed up badly.”5
