Ah those were definitely the days.
When it seemed like the world was his whole damn oyster. Simba was such an infectiously happy little cub. And he was the willing teacher. “Yeah, I remember those good ole days when I was taller too. Before I could be a lion snack,” he joked. “Grubs!? Of course he eats grubs. If he didn’t we would have ditched the kid a long time ago.” He winked teasingly.
“And for the record, I let you win!” He added point blank. Even it was a lie. “But for missing “so much” don’t worry, you still got a few years before teenage rebellion takes over and they’re too big for their britches.” He snorted.
He then added. “Either way, I’m excited we haven’t done one of those royal presentations in ages! I really thought Kion was it,” he noted rather enthusiastically. Before thinking... “Uh he does know the whole kingdom comes right? Might warn him too since he’s old enough to *get* that. Nerves and all.”
Before he forgot. “Speaking of humans. I figured you and Nala would like to know I have some news on that front,” he noted. “I mean besides your son that is. Since we can hardly group them together anymore.”

Simba laughed, "You're not a good liar Timon, I know you always give your best." he said, ruffling Timon's hair with his paw in a noogie. He was perplexed, "No, I know Bunga does... I mean has Kion tried grubs?" he asked, "Does he even hang out with you, or do our kids just run off on their own?" he asked... ashamed he didn't know this himself.
Simba looked around, "I'm afraid of how everyone will take this news... I'm, I'm afraid not everyone is going to come. You know how some people are." He said, "I would hate to dampen the announcement of the full Lion Guard with division over Kion's new brother."

Hah! Of course he gave him a noogie wasn’t it just yesterday this was the same?
Huh! Come to think of it when was the last time Kion had visited them? It had been a little while. But as a little cub they’d been visited all the time. Timon had to assume that it was all a matter of growing up. “Huh, I never thought about it, but I can’t remember the last time we had one of those chats,” he then added. “I should definitely introuce him to grubs though you’re right!”
Timon looked at Simba as he mentioned his worries. Now he got that - a little. “I’m gonna give you the same advice I got when we took you,” Timon told him. “The whole grove thought we were nuts. Taking in a lion. Sure, they respected it but we got the looks... The states.”
He explained. “Look, you love this kid right? That’s all that matters. If people want to be weird let them be weird,” he explained. “People are always going to have a reason to bellyache until the next weird thing happens. This week it might be “the king adopted a monkey”. Next week it’ll be “A warthog farted in the watering hole”.”

He smiled, "Yeah, maybe you could tell him about when I was his age... you know, those good old days. I'd like if he saw me not just as a king but... his dad he can talk to, lion to lion." he sighed, "Do tell me what he thinks of grubs, I wish I could be there but I know he'd not... be himself around me." he said, not seeming too upset by that.
"I never knew..." he said, "But just like with Kabili, I don't want him to know how they might feel either. I want him to not know that everyone was supposed to show up, if any herd refuses." he said, "We can think of an excuse once we know who isn't coming. If anyone." he added at the last minute to at least put a bit of hope to his statement.
He sighed, "I can't just... accept things like that. I am king now, I have an image to project."

Timon nodded his head, understanding completely. “I’d love to share some food old stories with him,” he explained point blank. “But I will let you know for sure kiddo, just gotta find the right time.”
Oh wow. That was what Simba was worried about? He chuckled a bit given how much respect Simba had from everyone in the Pridelands. “As far as I’m concerned, every here respects you so they’re sure to show,” He crossed his arms a little and added. “I’m not saying there won’t be *some* jerks out there. The first time someone even insinuates they’re not your kid, you’re gonna wanna throw them through a wall.”
God knows Timon had wanted to. “But you can demand respect for your family while still being a kind and just king,” he explained. “I think it reflects good on you rather than badly. Especially by giving him a presentation just like Kiara and Kion. It’d only look worse if you didn’t treat him the same remember that.”
Tapping his chin, he noted. “Plus if he’s strong enough to live among lions. He’s definitely strong enough to hold his head high.” He patted Simba’s paw.
He then added. “Now about the others though. I do think I may know where they are.”

He sighed, "Maybe... It's all very tense." he said, "I may have to exert some... authority, but that's not what I am worried about." Timon had a very good idea, or so Simba believed. "Yes, I must do this. I must treat him as equal... I will tolerate, some objection, but." he hummed. "As far as being my son goes, it doesn't matter how different he is. I still consider him my son." he stated with determination.
"And that is good enough for anyone, it is after all good enough for you... dad." he chuckled at calling Timon that. "Could you help spread the word, then? Who uh, do you get along best with? I know there's some you don't." he said. "Thurston, Bupu, Basi, you know, all the herd leaders, the galagos... the baboons..." he hummed. "If Kion hasn't learned from Nala yet I'll assemble the Lion Guard and tell them... Anyone else that we need to reach out to?"

Bingo that was the answer Timon was looking for. After all, the most important was how Simba and Nala felt about him, after all. “See and that’s how you know you’re doing the right thing,” Timon sighed with relief. “Hakuna Matata my boy; if I taught you anything that one should stick where it counts.”
Oh spreading the word! Right! Probably a good idea or there really wouldn’t be anyone there at all if they weren’t careful. “Oh, right! When does this go down anyway?” He asked. “I lost track of how long it’s been since they’ve shown up.”
“Hey don’t try to “dad” me to dodge my bigger point by the way! I think I saw the rest of the humans I said!” He replied quickly. Before he forgot too. Honestly he was always bad about that. “Since I’m sure after this is all said and done you want to talk to them - figure out what the rest of their intentions were.”

Simba hummed. "The presentation is going to be the start of next week, assuming everyone is ready. We will inform everyone of what's going on, they can get their end ready, then Zazu alerts the leaders to round up their groups, herds, what have you. We may appoint some animals as leaders, you know. Just for the purpose of informing everyone."
The lion blinked, "Oh right, right. You... found them? Where? Thurston mentioned he saw a pair." he added, not knowing if it would be helpful but getting information out was good. "And any idea about them? Their intentions, their camp?"

Timon nodded. No doubt it would feel sudden but from what he knew Sam - well Kabili now has made himself at home. No doubt some would have expected this. Especially since they had yet to find anything pertaining to the others. “Well we’re definitely looking forward to it,” he explained. “And a third and maybe final chance to actually make it on time.” He said maybe at this rate since who knew with those two.
There we go, he figured. Simba had his mind so much on making sure the new kid settled which was a good thing but still. “Well I didn’t get a lot of info as I’d like: some of them were going over who was missing or dead,” Timon explained. “I didn’t see their camp but I did get from most of the conversation that they are here in the Pridelands. Further out than Kabili and his mom were - least I think.” He wouldn’t tell him how he knew that... after all it wasn’t too important. “Which explains why he was on his own. Most of them were separated.”
Of course this lined up with Sam’s point of not knowing if anyone else survived. “I didn’t really get a motivation but it sounded like at least some of ‘em were trying to figure out a way to get out,” Timon replied. “Probably adults. I mean not everyone’s gonna be fond of finding themselves in the middle of nowhere I guess.”

Simba chuckled, "That is true." He didn't mind, really. He gulped "It is sad that some ended up like that, and Kabili among the missing I am sure." Though he had been found, by a new caring family.
"That's good, I will be happy to show them the way out." he said, completely believing it, as harsh as it seemed. "You do seem to be at the front of all of this, Timon. Maybe it's a sign... didn't you once say you were a sentry? You could be good at learning about the humans, getting close without being seen..."

Timon nodded his head. Though thankfully he’d only seen adults so far, not to say there weren’t other kids of course - but so far the kid seemed to be the only one. “It’s definitely too bad, I heard them say they started out nearing forty and they’re not even half that,” Timon explained. “They mentioned some freak storm, which is even weirder to me since I didn’t see any. And he’s only been here a couple of months.”
Being happy to show them the door was a good idea. And he knew Simba didn’t mean it as harsh as he sounded of course - it was just in their best interests given how dangerous the place could be. “Definitely, I mean if they were looking for this Zion place they’re probably way off course anyway. I’ve never seen a single human before the one that shot at me!” He explained. But when Simba asked him to spy he froze up a bit. He wouldn’t like it, but the kid was right - he could absolutely keep an eye out. “As long as I don’t get shot at again I don’t mind keeping up surveillance.” He explained. “Besides, Kabili should probably do some of the talking when we interact. Both so they get it and they don’t think we cubnapped him or something.”
Yeah; that would not end well.

Simba couldn't help but stare down Timon. "Shot?" he asked, "That's not a small thing Timon. I don't want either of you facing that." He sighed. "Especially not together. If you take him, safety must be your priority." he informed, "You know how disappointed I would be if you caused my son to come into harm..." he said. "You'd be lucky if I exiled you." he threatened. He wanted to make it clear Timon had to take things a bit more seriously. "Thank you though, keep up the looking out.
He pondered the talk of a storm, indeed there hadn't been any rain or storms lately of note, especially around when the humans started showing. "Zion...." he wondered. "Is that what they are after?" he frowned, "I'm not sure they will leave us alone, until they find it, if their search brought them here."

Timon gulped.
Honestly he couldn’t imagine what would happen if he did screw up. Especially since he did indeed know what Simba was like about his Cubs. And even if this one was new well damn... “I’d never do anything that would put the kids in danger,” Timon shook his head. “Not like that anyway. I promise. I’ll only bring him in when I know it’s safe.”
Timon paused and raised an eyebrow. “I don’t... Think they think that Zion is here. Didn’t sound like it,” he then put two and two together. “Why did the kid say something? Why would he think it was here?”

Simba kept his eyes on Timon. "I don't think so... We are the best place around, but that doesn't mean we are any kind of Zion... it could be nearby, and... well, whatever they seek could affect us..." he gulped.
"I mean it Timon, I have no choice but to exile you if you are involved in treason." he added, continuing his tough act. "I know..." he said, "If you do anything so reckless again, I'm telling your mother." he threatened, he knew her somewhat, and was sure he would fear that, even with how simple and petty it might sound!'

Timon nodded his head a little. He understood what the kid was saying but hoped it wouldn’t be that way. “Well the kid wouldn’t want us to search if they were all bad right?” He asked honestly. “I’m sure most of them are trying to find a way home. So there’s that.”
Ohhh ohhh. He did not just threaten to tell Ma! That was just asking for trouble! And there began panicked Timon again as he let out a Yelp. “Simba, at that point I’d hope to be banished! Because she would kill me!” He exclaimed. “You have not seen her when she’s mad!”
