Bandit gave Timon a rather blank look, as he processed that. "Well I... Huh, well... it's pretty hard to disappoint your kid." he put his paw to his snout, "I mean I've disappointed my dad plenty of times. But I can't even think how he could disappoint me." he hummed. "But I guess he's also like your boss so... huh, doesn't that feel weird?" he chuckled. "He can't exile his dad can he?"
He nodded about the idea of that, "Yeah I guess you are right about that. Yeah maybe some jerk gave us our bad name." he huffed. "If they are still alive when I find out they was, I might kill 'em myself."

Exile his dad? Ha!
Wait could he...? Nah, he really doubted that Simba would do that. Or at least he hoped not. The last thing that he wanted to do was get banished by his own kid. But still he felt like it was time to face the music no matter what it was about it.
“Well I wish ya luck. But I definitely got to find out for myself if I’m banished?” He chuckled nervously. “See ya around kid.”
Before he finally started off back in what... He was like 80% sure was the right direction.

Simba was growing impatient by the time Timon would finally arrive. Zazu had informed him that he had seen him coming on the way from another task, but that was a long while ago. The bird hadn't come back yet, or he would have sent him to talk to Timon and see what the hold-up was. Thankfully Timon arrived soon enough. "Timon!" he called, "Have we got a lot to talk about... sit down." he said, his impatience made his words come out a bit stronger than intended.

Ok! That was the right way, thank god.
Honestly he didn’t want to have this chat, but he still had to. With a small wave at Zazu, he took a deep breath and decided to just man up. Simba would understand, he *had* to understand right? Taking a seat in front of the lion, he decided to just get it out of the way.
“Ok! Ok! I admit it! I’m sorry! It was me ok!? You pried it out of me!” As usual Timon was confessing before he had a reason. And maybe just a little over reactive about this. “I’m sorry I told Zira about the kid! But you shoulda seen her! She was telling me she was gonna eat me and was licking me oh god!”
He was practically shouting and crying... Again typical Timon. “Please don’t banish me! I had no idea she’d go and try and hurt him like everyone told me!”

Simba stared, startled. He was about to yell at Timon to calm down, but he very quickly explained why he was so emotional, he scowled... he growled. "Timon!?" he said, putting his paw to Timon, enough that he would surely fear what he was going to do, but unless Timon jumped or something, he would only set it beside him, whatever he had intended he would stop himself from.
"She came looking for him." he growled. "The other night." he added. He put his paw back to his face, "I know you can't fight her but..." he glared. "But Timon, things are getting serious. Try to avoid outlanders and..." he sighed, "Fine we'll start with the bad news. It's bad enough we had Zira but now we've got a jackal problem. I think he's more stubborn than evil but, jackals are expert liars and thieves. We can't let our guard down, he calls himself Bandit after all."

Timon yelped.
But at least he set him down next to him. Ok so he wasn’t mad, yeah, that was a relief. Timon took a deep breath and tried to keep himself calm. He shoulda known the kid better than that but still. “Serious huh? I just didn’t think... I figured he was *mostly* safe with you there but still.” He admitted. “I shoulda known better though.”
Wait, the jackal? Oh! That guy he had seen? That was interesting that was for sure. “I uh... Maybe wouldn’t judge the jackal too harshly. He stopped me looking for directions for an audience,” Timon explained. “Don’t worry I didn’t give them to him or open my gorgeous, but big mouth. He did most of the talking.”

He growled, "He was, but it was a very tense situation." he said, simply. "You should have." he said, "You need to be more responsible Timon... but we are ready for her now." he groaned. While he processed this, Timon somehow made him truly mad.
"What?" he growled. "Don't talk to him either." he warned. "You're like a father to me, but... my father exiled his kind, and he knows it. We need to get him to go home, or he can stay in the outlands if he thinks I'll change my mind." he said in a way that was clear he didn't plan to. "What did he tell you? Jackals are full of lies and I don't want you on his side."

Timon swallowed.
He guessed he could understand Simba’s frustration. After all, Sam had come to them pretty wounded. When he’d seen him on arrival he’d had a large gash on his forehead, a bloodied leg, and the like. “Right, wounded animal versus vicious lions, always a bad idea,” he explained. “I hear he recovered now, though. He’s been down to the falls with the other Cubs a few times. Seems like he’s making friends and doing OK.”
Timon honestly understood Simba’s frustrations there, after all, Mufasa was pretty wise. But this had also been why Timon hadn’t said anything. “I was neutral when talking to him kid, don’t worry.” Timon admitted honestly. “I don’t think he was looking to settle in here though. He seemed to be looking for an alliance. Mentioned he has his own kingdom - said his family was on good terms with your dad and looking for an alliance. Might be worth at least checking out.”

Simba groaned, "It's the worst idea. I wasn't there so I can't say if you could have handled it better, but that is about the worst way it could have gone." he informed.
"I already told him no. The only one who seems to 'remember' is him, he said it happened when dad was a new king. Before Zazu." he groaned. "The best kind of lie, the kind no one can prove." he said, almost in admiration. "We can't spare anyone to see if this kingdom even exists." he sighed.
"But enough about him... let's talk about the boy. His name is Kabili now." he tried to smile, "And I'm adopting him as my son, so you have another grandson." he managed to smile at this point. "There's a lot of preparation to get ready for the ceremony."

Timon nodded his head a little. But decided it was best to move on.
Oh yikes. So Timon hadn’t heard the whole story yet. That... Definitely made things different. But he would definitely keep that in mind. “Well, you’re probably making the right choice,” Timon admitted. “I don’t know... You know all that politics mumbo jumbo has never been something I was good at.”
But finally they got to the reason he was really here.
So it was true, Simba was keeping the kid. Or wanted to. Timon nodded his head a little as he turned calmly to his son. “I think it’s great you got that big heart in their kid. Y’know I always have,” Timon replied honestly. “But that’s why I wanted to talk to ya. I know Pumbaa does too. But he’s out dealing with some stuff.”
Timon had to think, he hadn’t had to have a talk like this with an adult before. This was much easier when Simba was a cub. “I mean, you and Nala have given this a lot of thought, right? Adopting kids ain’t easy. Pumbaa and I learned on the fly,” he explained honesty. “They have memories, and feelings... And sometimes lots of nightmares and troubles, you can pretty much expect that. Sounds like he’s a lot like you.”
He then made sure to reaffirm. “And don’t get me wrong. I’m proud of you. Happy to have the kid too. I just would be ya old man if I didn’t make sure.”

Simba frowned. "We have to keep the outsiders out." He said simply, looking Timon in the eyes. "Except in rare circumstances. Even if Bandit isn't lying about everything, an alliance would open us to their kind and their problems"
He sighed, "I should have talked to you first. Even if you put him in danger you do know this sort of thing..."
He glared, "But I am disappointed in you Timon. I told him about you, and hoped for you to be a great teacher and example." he sighed, "I still do. he smiled. "You wouldn't have put him in danger unless you knew I would protect him.

Timon decided it was best to drop the idea of Bandit.
He knew when Simba had his mind set to something it was hard to deflect. And therefore, any further argument would result in well... More argument.
Timon sighed, he rubbed his eyes. Definitely understanding where Simba was coming from. “Well obviously now that he *is* my grandkid. I would protect him with my life. Not that I think he’ll need a ton of help if he survived a first encounter with Zira,” Timon admitted rather honestly. “But you know it’s like I say, past is the past that can’t be undone.”
Timon eyed him carefully. “If you want my best advice you did the right thing. I know you ain’t the type to immediately jump the gun. Plus I know how you must have felt,” he explained honestly. “It was probably the same of how I felt with you. You were such a little guy, so scared... You just want to help.”
He then admitted with a smile. “I’m not here to say you shouldn’t do it. I’m just here to offer advice where you might need it,” he explained honestly. “I mean if you’re already adopting him you clearly have come to love the kid. Which is already the most important thing.”
Finally, the meerkat said. “So any big things eating at your gut about it? Settling in OK? Any nightmares? Problems?” He asked. “From what I hear he’s a good kid at least. Even if his world sounds kinda whack.”

The king smiled, "Glad to hear it, I expect you to this time." He nodded. "I want to help everyone, but I am sure about this one." he sighed, he did note that he was making an outsider his son while rejecting others... it complicated his mind.
"I always want your advice, Timon." he said, putting his paw on his adoptive dad's head, "Yeah. I owe it to you, I think..." he said, "I hope he makes us both proud." He sighed, "No... no." he said, "I have my... concerns... I know not to trust you with anything secret, of course, so... trust me that I can't tell you." he said, cryptically. "Yes he is a lot like me... and in the same way I hope he will live like I did with you and Pumbaa. As alien as it was."

Timon gave a small thumbs up. Figuring he didn’t need to reaffirm that while also listening to what he had to say.
Timon was glad that he still wanted his advice. Sometimes he became that sentimental old meerkat who worried his kids were growing up too fast after all. “Honestly feels like just yesterday Pumbaa and I were bringing you to that Oasis and I was freaking out,” he explained with a smirk. “I had no idea what I was gonna do. Forget the lion part of it - suddenly I had a whole other life in my hands.”
But... “I can tell you adopting is rewarding. The kid appreciates a lot of the little things kids who grow up with the same parents might uh... I don’t wanna say take for granted. But definitely overlook,” Timon explained honestly. It was true - like how Simba never found it embarrassing sleeping with his family even when he was an adult. “And if you’re lucky they grow up to appreciate it enough to do the same thing for someone else. Which is its own reward, really. Knowing you made even that tiny speck of difference.”
With a chuckle he added. “And just be ready for the growth spurt. Those humans I saw were pretty frickin’ tall,” he explained. “One day you’ll probably wake up and he’ll be a giant. Just like you.”

Simba nodded "Yes, I remember you being taller than me a long time ago." he chuckled, "That and when I started beating you at everything." he chuckled "You remember that day don't you?" he smiled as he remembered. "It was great when we really were a family." he sighed. "Now I have a family of my own, and with... rebuilding the Pridelands I missed out on quite a lot..." he bemoaned.
"Do you guys still still do that stuff? I know your son is Kion's friend and all but has he ever eaten grubs?"
