When Sam stood at the watering hole, staring at himself in the water... He hardly recognized himself.
He'd flown halfway around the world, crashed in the Savannah, survived against all odds, trusted a literal lion king... And at the end of it, now had a family. It was so weird to think about... That of all the people in the world, it had been Simba - a KING that had embraced him as his family. What were the odds? Him a kid who had spent his life rejected by his own kind, pushed aside as unadoptable, unlovable, and so many things... Had found a family with lions.
It was just... So much to process. Especially since he had been so ready to run away.
What did this mean now? Sam didn't know really... He'd never had parents to look up to, or siblings. The world was different now, he was different now. But without a doubt, he'd figure it out along the way. He just hoped that Simba knew what he was doing, no doubt news of their chat would be out before they knew it. And Sam was a little nervous about the type of attention it may bring, but also prepared given he wasn't going to have to face it alone anymore.
Was this what Mufasa had wanted bringing him to Pride Rock to begin with? Why would he want a human in the royal family? "Adopted" for lack of a better term, or not. Why was Sam here? All these questions still plagued his mind. "It's OK Sam," He reminded himself. "Everything happened for a reason at this point, right?"
The trip, finding Pride Rock, meeting the pride... It all had to have a meaning. "Maybe I should go see Rafiki again soon." He admitted as he dipped his toes into the watering hole. Resting against a rock and watching the others go about their morning.
