Many things had happened lately. According to the Great Summit Simba had attended to, humans showed up more and more often in the surrounding territories, causing problems to the animals. One human had showed up even in the Pride Lands, Sam the boy, who now was officially a member of the pride. The human boy had proved to be worthy of being a member, although, Simba had been struggling with himself because of Sam a lot. But thanks to his true friends and Mufasa, questions were answered, and the talk with his father had reassured Simba that Sam was not the one to worry about. However, this didn't mean all humans could be trusted.
Simba wanted to discuss these issues with his mother as he knew Sarabi had wise insight on things. He also wanted to talk about some other like what Mufasa had told about the new threat, and some Outlander lionesses Kiara wanted to invite.
"Mother," the lion called for the old lioness when noticed her coming out of the den. Simba just arrived back from his morning patrol. "Zazu told me you wished to talk to me. I wanted to talk to you, too."

SARABI "Perfect timing." She stepped with slow grace, head rising to greet the King. She was not keen on showing her age to him, not wanting to distract him from his duties, so her gait solidified into a natural and normal one. "Are the pridelands well this morning? I believe I heard a monkey crying foul because another troupe ate his tree's fruit." She chuckled. Ah, the trivialities.
"I wanted to speak about the humans. I had a long talk with Sam and he's given me a lot of information. He's a kind young one, though I fear the others may not be so innocent in what they want from our lands." She didn't beat around the bush as his time was rarely so free and this was a very important matter. "Have you seen other humans in the Pridelands?" Her concern showed in her focused face and the tension along her shoulders.

"Nothing special." Simba replied with an eyeroll and smile on his face, he knew some animals tended to get deep into trivialities, too.
"No, I haven't seen any other one yet." The lion tried to reassure his mother as he immediately noticed in her posture that something was worrying her. "Since I came back from the Great Summit I've been doing double checks. I even asked Vitani and her Guard to keep their eyes open. Sam seems to be the only human being in the Pride Lands so far." He added. "Why are you asking? Do you know something I don't know maybe?"

SARABI "It depends on what you know." She calmed. "Did you know that they might be looking for the Tree of Life? 'Zion', they're calling this place?" She'd study his face, though not out of any mistrust. Far from it, really. If he had kept anything from her, it was either because he didn't want to worry her or he wasn't sure... But she did not feel such reservations with this subject. "I have full trust in Sam, but Kion doesn't know anything about this. I'd suggest we have a discussion about what we know and see about sending someone to the Tree so they know what they might be facing." Even though it felt like they knew so little as it were...

"So this is why they are here." Simba muttered to himself rather than to his mother, eyes moving to the side. "No, I didn't know." Now he spoke louder. "On the Great Summit I was only told that more and more humans had popped up but no one knew why. So they are here on purpose..." The lion now got lost in his thoughts a little bit, recalling what his father had said: a bloodline not seen for many years would come and this would be the enemy. Maybe it was humans Mufasa had talked about? And what if they want to take over the Tree of Life? Why do they want to find that place?
Sarabi's words made him ponder, she was right, it worths a visit to the Tree of Life to warn Kion and his people. The Tree of Life - thus the healing of animals - could be in danger. Simba had bad feelings about it anyway.
"Sam hasn't mentioned it to me yet, although my father has. I had a conversation with him last time and he told me ... interesting things. I don't understand every word he told me but I do want to discuss it with you." His voice turned into whisper. He was being careful. "Somewhere else where we can talk alone. I don't want the others to be worried."

SARABI So he hadn't known... And others were definitely spotted. They had a few things in their favor; Sam knew a little bit, and unlike Simba's Pride, most animals wouldn't. And the humans might be unlikely to consult other species, if the mancub's reactions were anything to go by...
Simba resumed speaking and she couldn't hide her expression of awe from hearing that Mufasa had spoken to him. Mouth parting slightly, ears raising a little... But she'd focus and nod at his suggestion. "Maybe two minds can make sense of it. Lead the way, my son." Warmth despite the gravity of the subject seeped in. The Great Kings speaking to Simba is humbling to her.

For his mother's suggestion, Simba started off making his way down the entryway of Pride Rock. When he was sure no one else could hear, he started to speak, his eyes keeping on the ground.
"I was worried about many things: Sam, humans, the Outlander lionesses Kiara wanted to invite... Father came to answer my questions. As for Sam, he said he was not the threat I seek and he sent him here for purpose. But he was also talking about something else..." Here the lion took a short pause implying he was about to tell her a confidental and important thing, he didn't even exactly know how to start. This topic worried him a lot. "Father said a great enemy would come, a bloodline not seen for many years. When time is here the Earth shakes. He also said it was not Scar, nor the Outlander lionesses. He didn't tell me who he was talking about, he only said the answer lay in the tomb of the lost prince.”
Simba looked at his mother now, observing her expression and making his steps slower. "Do you have any idea who he meant? And where is the tomb of the lost prince?"

SARABI The Outlander lionesses were certainly a topic, too. Seeking council was wisest, and for the humans, too. She'd watch him patiently, letting him catch his thoughts and share what he wished. The words... They really were cryptic. There was no way of knowing what it meant until the time came, was there?
Finished mulling over his words for the present, she brought her gaze back to him, turning a little to better face him. "I'm not sure what he means by a bloodline not seen in years... But a 'great enemy'... I believe the humans can be an enemy if they decide to be." She thought a little more... And her eyes widened a little, concern flashing across her face. "Sam spoke about his leaders to me. They are greedy, they take more than they need and other species do not speak there. If they're here for something and bring that approach, we'll face a disaster. You know what it means when the Circle of Life isn't respected." Focused now, she'd resume walking with him. "They won't be used to communicating with other species, and I doubt they'll be as open-minded as the mancub."
Lost prince... Last prince... No matter how she puzzled over it, it didn't make sense. "If he meant us, then there haven't been tombs. I can't think of any princes who had tombs... The last royalty to die was..." She didn't say it, but her briefly grim expression said it all. "And I'd hardly count Scar's sons as princes." She shook her head. Kovu was respected, but he was prince-consort, vastly different. "Could he have meant someone else?"

"Yes, I know..." Simba looked aside and resumed walking, he remembered that view very well how the kingdom had looked like during Scar's reign and he didn't want his family to suffer again. "I have the same fear as you. This is why I didn't want to let Sam live here in the Pridelands in the first place. But father helped me to realize that he might be a human but he can be good. Now I see that Sam respects the Circle of Life but... it doesn't mean other humans will." Simba paused here as he got lost in his thoughts pondering where the tombs could be. After a short time he started to speak again to share his ideas.
"What if ... what if those tombs are not here but somewhere else? You mentioned they were looking for the Tree of Life. Loyalty has existed at the Tree of Life too. The bloodline might come from there. Maybe I should go and talk to Kion and Rani about it and warn them about danger."

SARABI "We all have our place, and Sam's is with us." There is trust in her words. They were less of a reinforcement to Simba and more-so to herself, accepting Mufasa's vision. She'd pause as he did, letting him sort through his mind.
At his suggestion, she nodded. "If we pool our knowledge and Queen Rani's, we have a chance to stay a step ahead. The next order is deciding who should travel." Looking off to the side, she let it be known she was a little disappointed. "I want to visit the Tree, but I didn't account for having to rush. It'd be wiser to send someone younger, and Sam along with them. Fuli knows the path, so she'd be quickest." She may not be able to travel as fast as if she were alone, but knowing the way still cut down on wasting time.
Except... Simba had just said he wanted to speak to them personally. "Your place is with your pride. Are you sure you want to go too?"

Simba gave his mother some worried look. Maybe was it a bad idea that he wanted to go? "On one hand, I just thought that I could leave Kiara in charge, she needs to learn to handle things as future Queen and maybe... I should give her more chances to prove herself." Here he looked aside, pondering. Maybe sometimes he was too harsh on Kiara because of her different -and naive- ways, nevertheless, he trusted in his daughter and had faith in her. However, in certain matters Kiara tended to be reckless and she was not so careful as Simba wanted her to be.
"On the other hand, it's been a while since I last met Kion and it would be so good to see him again." He added. Simba missed his son. It was not easy for him to accept Kion's decision that he wants to live at the Tree of Life, far away from the Pride Lands but because he loved his child, he respected Kion's will.
"But... you may be right. Maybe it would be wiser if we sent Fuli there."

SARABI She had to think. If something happened she'd want him here, but Kiara was more than capable in her eyes. What Simba saw as naive, she saw as daring... despite her personal feelings toward the Outlanders and the hyenas. Kovu wasn't a fool, either. She paced for a moment...
Some things, only a King could say. Others, only a father could say; Simba was both to Kion. Besides, Simba had seen the visions... Fuli hadn't.
She made her mind, nodding and looking at him with a soft smile. "Go, son. Everything you built here relies on more than you, and at times like this, we need to prove that. It is all of us, together, under the sun. Fuli may be faster, but she isn't you." The old lioness offered to nuzzle Simba. "Kiara won't be alone in her decisions. I might be a bit of an old worry-bones, but I know when destiny has its paw in this."

"Thank you, mother." And a soft smile appeared on his face. The lion softy nuzzled his beloved mother's face, he was thankful for her support and advices. That Sarabi agreed on he had to go and visit the Tree of Life just made his decision stronger. "A voice inside me tells me that I will find something there - and I want to know what it is."
