GENERAL INFO
Personality:
On the surface, Dhahabu seems air headed and narcissistic, at times being a little too proud of herself and full of herself for being a rare golden pelted zebra. But in reality, Dhahabu is much more, being a fairly cheerful and out-going sort of zebra that values seeing others in a good mood and keeping their spirits high. Her main priority is being in high spirits, always having a smile on her face and seeing the positive side of life, having a surprisingly calm, soothing air about her. Dhahabu is best described as a kind, fair individual especially when it comes to acting as a leader towards her herd. The past few years have seen her grow exponentially to lessen her overly playful, carefree attitude to being a little more focused and serious but still remaining carefree at the same time.
Unlike other zebras however, Dhahabu is not so easily spooked or frightened. Though she does get fearful and freeze up on occasion, past encounters with Kion’s Lion Guard has taught her to be brave and face her fears in the face of danger. She isn’t afraid to show a sharp tongue or fight if she must, caring deeply for her herd and the safety of others, forcing herself to do what is needed for the right thing. Despite appearances, she is willing to go the distance for those she loves, being deeply loyal and protective, showing a fairly different side that most zebras seem to lack even for total strangers. But, Dhahabu does have the occasional matter of lying if she must to protect someone from harm or being hurt.

History:
Dhahabu is descended from a long line of royalty related to the meadows and grove of the Backlands. In fact, her ancestors have long called them her home as well as tracing her genes of a golden pelt back to the original leader of the Backlands. Dhahabu herself inherited this trait and has been put on a pedestal by many for being such a rare Golden Zebra.
That said, Dhahabu has grown up in the Backlands in relative peace compared to their neighboring lands, the Outlands and Pridelands. From her parents she was brought up knowing royal etiquette and duties, what her expectations were, and groomed to be the leader of her herd. Much like those of Simba and Kovu, there were many lessons she had to learn while also being excessively praised for her rare genes. This combination gave her a somewhat overinflated ego for a time, but she nevertheless tried to take her lessons to heart, from the very beginning showing a kind leadership and often spent the rest of her free time frolicking and enjoying time with her fellow young foals.
Before long, her adolescence arrived and her parents put her in charge of leading the younger generation to press the importance of understanding what it was like to be a leader. On the occasional bit of danger, Dhahabu did prove herself to be a little different. Though fearful, she tried to stand up to the dangers, managing on occasion to help her herd but otherwise also tended to back off the danger. Unfortunately, tragedy did strike as the young zebra lost her mother to a pride of nomadic lions when her mother attempted to distract them from the herd, broken hearted over the loss her father decided to step down as leader of the herd putting Dhahabu into this position as a young adult at the time. The result of this loss and seeing how broken her father seemed, Dhahabu steeled herself to do her best to become a leader her herd could be proud of.
Eventually one day, Dhahabu and her herd were approached by envoys from the Pridelands in the form of the Lion Guard. Kion attempted to make a deal in using the massive watering hole there in the Backlands due to a drought the Pridelands were facing. But, the young female zebra was hesitant, at first making the deal then backtracking of which it was discovered she had known of their own watering hole seeming to dry up. Her herd was saddened she had lied to them, feeling betrayed enough to for a short while turn their backs on her, causing Dhahabu to seek the help of the Lion Guard to discover what had happened to Dhahabu’s Grove. After some searching it was discovered a land slide had blocked the river feeding into the grove. Determines to make things right, Dhahabu began helping the Lion Guard clear the land slide but came into contact with the leopard Makucha and his gang who attempted to take the young zebra as a meal and force the Lion Guard away to no avail, the encounter even causing Dhahabu to find her inner bravery and join the counter attack against the leopards, forcing them to retreat. After this, the river was cleard and as thanks promised to allow the Pridelanders to use the watering hole whenever they needed it as well as forging a new alliance.
In the months to follow, Dhahabu pushed herself to improve as a leader, gradually maturing and bettering her ways of keeping this fair and firm among her herd. Occasionally, she also visited the Pridelands, one of which she permanently made a treaty between the Backlands and Pridelands as allies that has stood by even today
