Sam wasn’t sure what he wanted out of this.
But he did know he wanted to understand a lot of things. Most importantly; to understand why he was here and his place in all of this. Why he’d been called to Pride Rock. Why had the voices of this place called to him?
And most important: he wanted to understand this new world around him better.
So he’d thought of Rafiki, and sought out where he may find the mandrill he had a feeling could help him find some of those answers. It wasn’t easy, of course, but now that he has attempted with varying success to integrate himself into Savannah life some were more than happy to help.
So he approached the abode of the mandrill carefully and respectfully. Though he questioned if he was intruding just by being there. He simply called out a calm and simple: “Rafiki? Are you home?”

Rafiki was home, in fact, he was practicing some painting on the bark to prepare for a celebration. He had to mark the occasion on walls of Pride Rock. It was important to mark all history, which he had done for much of his life as Royal Mjuzi. He took a step back and nodded in agreement to how it looked, before the sound of someone voice reaching him.
Sam.
The human boy had ventured out into the Savannah to his tree and was searching for him. Rafiki smiled his wild smile and looked to the sky from his tree. "Well, Mufasa, so you bring me the boy?" he asked in a hushed tone before he came to overlook the tree. He did not hesitate to swing down and landed near the young boy.
"Hello Sam... What brings you to my home?" There was still a burn mark on his tree from when fire had touched the area near his home. His home was saved by a herd made up of three unlikely animals. It was good they had been around. TAG: Samwel IgweLOCATION: Rafiki's Tree in the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

Sam was silent for a minute as Rafiki stepped out.
He wasn’t sure how to approach him about it, honestly. Did he just say it straight forward or did he start with pleasantries. “I’m sorry to intrude like this, sir, I’m sure you’re a very busy mandrill,” he started after making his decision. “I just wasn’t sure who else to go to about well… This.”
As he considered his next words he decided to just come out with it.
“I met Simba. And when I told him about the voice I heard in the jungle. He looked… Confused, worried even,” he admitted honestly. The admitted. “He asked questions about if I saw anyone and… It just got me thinking. I think there’s a reason I’m here.”
As he leaned back a little he added. “I don’t understand a ton of what’s going on. But I want to learn, I mean… I came here to learn,” Sam asked. “Everyone says you’re so in tuned with the land and the spirits. I was wondering if you could… Help me learn?”
God he was going on and on. Get a hold of yourself, Sam he chided himself.

Rafiki stood there quietly, allowing the human to think through what he wished to say and how he wished to phrase it. It was hard sometimes, when the words did not come so easily. He chuckled lightly as he spoke about Rafiki being busy, but nodded in agreeance. He never allowed himself to get so busy, he could not be there for the Pridelands.
As the boy explained, Rafiki own smile began to grow and he laughed a little. "Oh, you think so?" Rafiki said with great humor in his voice. "Such knowledge I have gained as well, Young Sam." Rafiki had figured this out within' the first few days. But, even he had to keep some things to himself from the spirit world. Everyone had to learn things at a certain pace.
"The spirits have already asked me to teach you, but I was waiting for you to come to me..." He said to the young human, placing his hand on his shoulder. "For now, you are not yet ready, young Sam... I wish you to become comfortable here in the Pridelands... You must learn to be part of the Pride and the circle of life." Rafiki needed him to learn how to be a working member of this land.
"For now, here is my lesson... Stop, Listen... Observe," The monkey said to him as they stood at the base of the tree. TAG: Samwel IgweLOCATION: Rafiki's Tree in the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

So wait, Rafiki knew? Was the mandrill psychic or had someone told him already?
A part of Sam felt his stomach twist in knots - unsure what to say when he did tell him that. But he did at least make it clear that the spirits had said something, when he mentioned how they’d wanted him to be taught. “That’s… More surprising than I was expecting,” Sam admitted. “Honestly I thought you were going to call me crazy.”
What he said next both, startled and confused him though. One with the circle of life he understood. But the Pride? The Pride as in Simba’s Pride? “Well I definitely want to be one with the circle. But with the Pride?” He chuckled nervously. “Simba wasn’t even sure he’s OK with me staying. So I really doubt he’d ever let me get close like that. I mean… I don’t think a human has ever actually lived with lions or begin with…”
There’d been wolves before, he’d heard of that. But lions? "I'm more worried he won't let me stay at all."
Either way, he was silent when Rafiki asked him to stop, listen, and observe. He guessed that wasn’t that hard. Taking a deep breath, he tried to do as the mandrill asked. But about five minutes into it gave a look of confusion. “… Uh is there something I should be looking for?” He asked.
