Nala's excuse for pausing on one of the higher rocks still near Pride Rock with but some privacy from the comings and goings of the main cave, (though as queen she hardly needed one, yet if any had asked) was simply herd check up and getting a feel for how things sat now and with the dry season so close.
So much had happened, not including the large event of gaining a new son! The sameness of watching as the herds galloped past was comforting, and with a sigh the queen settled to enjoy it.
She'd thought more of Scar, and the time during his reign, in these past few weeks then she had since his defeat, partly just brought up as she recounted the history of the Pride Lands to Kabili, and to no blame to her son.
Honestly they would probably all recall for a bit longer, even now a good dry season, when they could help the herds make it through only brought back memories of when it meant added suffering and starvation on top of that being the story of the 'good'times during Scar's reign.
At least that was far from the story with Simba back now.
Nala smirked to herself, "And Zazu once said I was too bold, that boldness got Simba back here to us...and me, didn't it?", she muttered to herself, of course not dreaming any were near enough to overhear. And true, Rafiki did the real work.
All in all these were somewhat easier thoughts, though, to pondering how Kion was now hurt. Maybe they were one in the same thoughts and Nala was just worrying over what this could mean, seeing bigger trouble because it often came.

The patrol had been uneventful for the most part, except meeting that leopard. Inyere had departed from her sister shortly afterwards to head back to Pride Rock. She was tired and a little hungry after all that walking. The dry season would soon be upon them and she needed to keep her strength up for when it was here. With the dry season coming, the likelihood of the pride being busy was high.
Who knows what would happen when animals were hungry. It was always a rough time for everyone involved. Inyere was so focused on her thought, she was surprised to see Pride Rock so close when she focused on it. She had walked quicker than she had planned. She was about to take the path that lead to the main area of Pride Rock when she smelt Nala and turned her head to see her on some higher rocks near Pride Rock. Well, they hadn't had a chance to talk and relax... The two had grown up together, after all.
"Hello Nala," she said softly to her friend as she approached. TAG: @nala LOCATION: Near Pride Rock in the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

Nala had become lost in thought, and that was never a good thing, especially for a queen, to do, but of everyone who had to catch her unawares it was one of the lionesses who knew her well. Of course her mate and cubs knew her (she would still call Kabili a cub, human or no) but in the same way she had not been there while Timon and Pumbaa raised Simba, Inyere and Nala had survived Scar's reign together.
Not that she'd ever really forgotten Simba in that time, and he'd spoken the truth, from her perspective even she had still been his best friend before she was more when meeting back up with him. It was Inyere who listened to her grieve Simba and grieve how much better the Pride Lands would be if only he'd survived, back before she'd known he had.
So she greeted her friend with a smile. "Inyere, hello. I'm afraid you caught me lost in thought, but I think I can trust you not to go spreading it and ruining my queenly image", her smile turned amused.

Inyere smiled at Nala as she spoke and found a place near the Queen and joined her, resting herself down and stretching out a little. "I'd never do such a thing," she said with a slight tone of amusement. It was true though, she would never spread rumors about her Queen and her friend. Once she was settled and the silence had begun to form, she smiled at Nala.
"Are you okay?" Inyere asked calmly as she sat there with her. It has been recently that Kion had stumbled upon her at the cliffs and he had been in bad shape. She had called out for help and did managed to get Simba to come to her aid. They had brought him back and she had taken to keeping an eye on the borders. Nala smiled back, both grateful and picking up on the amusement in Inyere's voice. "Thank-you", she said, making room for her friend.
There was a lot in Inyere's next question, Nala could tell. Her friend knew what there was to not be ok with. She sighed but then smiled again. "More or less, Rafiki has Kion well in paw, seeing that he's healed, but it's still worrying". Yet speaking of which...
"I should thank you again for your help in bringing him swiftly back after he was attacked".
Nala paused and then went on, "It's more that just that though", she confessed, "I've been having to recount some of the history of the Pride Lands for Kabili, our new son". She was pretty sure Inyere was caught up by now, "And that includes some of the harder times...like Scar".

Inyere nodded to her friend as she took place next to her and listened as she spoke about what was troubling her. Inyere was good at listening, a skill she had picked up during the time of Scar's reign. Sometimes, it was best to just to listen and observe. Inyere had done that many times in the past and still did it now as she had aged.
"Of course, I could not even think of not bring him back to Pride Rock," she said to Nala, knowing that had the roles been reversed, Kion would have gotten her help as quickly as possible. She listened about her friend's recount of Pride Land history and looked down at her paws when it came to the part about Scar. "It is an unfortunate part of our history, but a one that should be told to prevent it happening again." They had lived it. It had caused her mother to send her brother away, she had lost that time with him. It still shook her... Sometimes. They were in better times, that was a blessing from the Great Kings. Nala knew that, as a loyal lioness of the Pride, Inyere meant her words and would have always aided a prince of the Pride Lands, but it didn't diminish her gratitude. Event though she didn't say it, yes Kion would have also done the same for her or any of the Pride Landers in need.
She nodded as Inyere rightly said it was important to remember so as to not repeat. "Yes...and it all turned out mostly alright", she admitted, she had found Simba and all of that would be even more of a distant memory if it weren't for Zira continuing to threaten them.
Not that Nala was surprised and there was always some carry over such as that. "Yes, and we're probably stronger for it". She gave her friend a wry smile, "Sorry, I don't mean to bring the mood down".
