Simba was riled up, he even started to grow lowly, but he was too smart, and had his lioness at his side, he wouldn't do anything foolish. He just kept his eyes forward, watching her leave. "Your home is with your young cubs." he said. Increasingly he believed Zira was anything but the monster she had become. That threatened him and everything he loved for twisted reasons, but it was his heart that blinded him to Scar in the first place.
Would this be his downfall again? Could he bring himself to destroy Zira next time she violates exile? The thoughts filled his head, she may be leaving now, but would he play nice for too long before acting? Would he have it in him to destroy her, her lionesses... her cubs? "We need to talk." he said cryptically to Nala. Then he looked at Sam, he looked like he had a lot to say, but couldn't say it right now.

Sam definitely felt a little more relaxed with the Queen between them too.
But he still didn’t take a breath until Zira had turned tail and left. Even less so when he felt Simba’s eyes on him. He blushed a little, like he’d known he had probably escalated that a little further and probably shouldn’t have. Of course, he didn’t feel any scolding - but something else in Simba’s eyes. Something he couldn’t quite read,
All the same he gave a small bow. “I’m uh... Sorry, your majesty. I didn’t think she’d take it that far,” he admitted as a little chill ran up his spine. “I promise next time I’ll let you do the talking.”

A small tension in Nala's shoulder's relaxed as Zira turned and walked off. It would not come to a fight today...
Turning, she checked on Sam, same as she would any of her cubs. She tried to think of what words she wished to say (praise for his bravery or reminder to not be so bold with Zira?) when Simba's cryptic words interrupted. She felt she understood him enough to have an idea of what they might have to talk about, and simply nodded. "Right", she turned back to Sam.
Had it been any other day she might tell him to go play same as she would Kiara or Kion, but she wasn't sure how far away Zira was, plus she wasn't sure if Simba actually wanted to address his entering the confrontation now or not.

The king watched as Zira left, even so he would walk away a bit before he spoke. Sam was lucky he wanted to talk now, and that he wanted to keep this whole ordeal on a need-to-know basis.
"Sam..." he said sternly. "It's good not to show fear, but Zira isn't trying to impress you." he said, "Don't let her get close, and don't talk to her. She is dangerous." he kept back from growling, but only just. "Her presence here is most upsetting, and means everyone is in danger. The only way to be safe is to avoid her..." he feared loss, that was certain, especially at Zira's paw.

Sam nodded his head,
Again he wasn’t quite his guardian yet but he did understand the look in Simba’s eyes. While he was in the Pridelands he felt responsible no doubt. And sure, he didn’t know just how far that extended yet - but he definitely didn’t want to disappoint the king.
“I understand your majesty. I probably should have figured that out before I had the claw at my throat,” he chuckled nervously. Honestly very nervously at that. “I’ll uh... Head back to my spot now. I was just trying to get a good sketch in:..”
Honestly, if it weren’t already obvious he was embarrassed. “If you guys need me, I’m probably going down to the falls with a couple of Cubs today.” After all. Who knew when they’d find the others, he figured.
