The sun had set over the Pridelands, yet not all were sleeping. The lions of the great rock were mostly sleeping, yet Rafiki knew he was needed by one individual. One he had yet to welcome home... He had been consulting with the Great Kings for several nights, but none were able to completely answer his question. All they could tell him was something was lost to the lands, something not within the border.
Rafiki had stopped for the day, he heard from some passing birds that Simba and Nala had returned. It had likely been quite a shock to see the human cub, one which Rafiki had told Kiara would be good to stay. Even Ma Tembo had agreed with Rafiki on this, which wasn't uncommon, but he was glad for the help.
He sat at the point of Pride Rock, his body relaxed in his normal meditation pose. He was thinking, trying to search the silence and peace for the answers he needed about the humans. TAG: SimbaLOCATION: Pride Rock in the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

Simba sat on the edge of the Peak, his eyes looking up to the sky in which stars were getting brighter as the sun was setting. The others already were in the den, so Simba could be alone to think ... and pray. Because he was in big trouble, he was feeling lost again and needed advice. According to the news, humans recently popped up in the Savannah were not so friendly, what's more, some of them were extremly dangerous. He didn't know what to do with the boy Sam who happened to be a human. Simba wanted to exile him from the Pride Lands but there was one thing: Sam could hear a voice in his mind that seemed to be Mufasa talking to him. What if Simba misses the opportunity of his father's suggestion? "Father?" He started praying, now looking down to the ground. "Father, I am lost. I feel the Pride Lands would be in danger if I let a human live here. I don't want trouble for my people. What kind of king would I be...? Or is it you whom the boy keeps hearing? Is it you who sent him to us?"His voice sounded desperate. Simba looked at the sky once more but no answer came. With a sigh, he stood up and began his walk towards the den. Maybe it was better to sleep... The lion stopped at the entrance of the cave and looked back over his shoulder hoping he would get any signs finally. Instead, he noticed Rafiki sitting on the edge in his meditation pose. Was Simba so deep in his thoughts he hadn't noticed Rafiki coming? Or was it the sign he was seeking for? "Rafiki?" The lion called him as he approached the mandrill. "Can we talk?"

The sound of his name from a familiar voice did not cause Rafiki to stir from his meditation, to pull himself back to the land of sound. He just sat and quietly listened to the world around them. At his question, Rafiki opened his eyes and let out a calming breath before she turned and stood.
"Of course, Simba... Let us talk," The monkey said, motioning for them to take a walk together. It was best to speak away from the dens, as lions or human could awaken and disturb them. Besides, some of the lions slept near the mouth of the den. Sam had been given a den with the ability to use fire, so he could stay warm and cook his meals.
Rafiki moved down the path of the Great Rock and soon, walked to a near pool, finding a rock to sit on so he could speak with his friend. "What troubles you, Simba?" TAG: SimbaLOCATION: The Pool near Pride Rock in the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

The lion followed the mandrill, although he had no idea where they were going. He agreed, it was really better to stay away from Pride Rock, so they got the opportunity to talk alone. While walking Simba tried to collect his thoughts, although he had been struggling a lot... He was puzzled and felt lost, just like because of Kovu before. "It's Sam." He sat down too. "I... don't know what to do. He is a human and I know they are part of the Circle of Life but... Because of the worrisome news I heard during the Summit I wouldn't be happy to see him around. However, there is something I found weird. Rafiki, is it possible that my father would talk to a human?" Even if it sounded unlikely, he wanted to know the answer.

Rafiki didn't seem surprised by the questioning that came from Simba. It was true, many in the Pridelands were worried about the strange being known as Sam Irons. Rafiki had his own thoughts on the matter, but he was consulting the Great Spirits of the past.
"The Great Spirits can call to anyone, not just the animals of the world, Simba," Rafiki said to Simba as he sat there, his staff across his lap as he listened to the concerns of the King. "Sam is young, but I do believe the Spirits have called him here... For what purpose, I do not know, as they are silent on their reason," Rafiki said in mild frustration himself. "But, there are strange things happening in our world and I am watching for the signs of the Spirits..." Rafiki said as he looked to the stars.
"Until such time as the great Spirits reveal themselves, we should be patient... Sam is young and has recently come to me for teachings as well... I will take him on as a student," Rafiki said in a matter of fact tone and a monkey like smile. TAG: SimbaLOCATION: The Pool near Pride Rock in the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

"You mean as apprentice like Makini?" Simba questioned looking at the mandrill with wondering eyes. The idea of Sam becoming Royal Mjuzi sounded weird. The lion hoped Rafiki was not going to have plans like that.
"Rafiki," Simba spoke. "I have my reason why I asked. When I met Sam he told me he had seen a lion looking like me and the voice he had heard sounded deep. He thinks he was just losing his mind. Maybe... maybe it was my father. I am not sure but..." he didn't find the right words here, so he continued with a question instead. "Is it possible that the sound he keeps hearing is my father?"

"Hmmm," Rafiki thought about his question regarding Makini and shrugged in a non-chalet manner. "That I am unsure of myself, Simba, but he claims to be hearing things, it is good that I teach him and see for myself." It was true, if the Human was hearing the voice of the ancient past, then maybe he did need teachings on the subject. "I will know when I find my next apprentice, but it has not been made clear to me yet," the mandrill said as he tapped his staff with his fingers. "I have met several young ones around these lands and just outside... The Great Spirits have not given me a clear answer."
Rafiki laughed a little as Simba's reasonings. "Simba, do not forget, that there were others in your lineage that looked like you and Mufasa," Rafiki said as he jumped down and put a hand on his shoulder. "All were great kings or lions... Do not jump to conclusions just yet, Simba, let us consult with the Great Spirits." Rafiki knew that Simba was worried and he smiled at his friend.
"Mufasa would be proud of you, Simba... You have come a long way... In time, he will reveal his answer or the answers of others," Rafiki said to the lion, a smile on his face. "So, what else troubles you?" Rafiki asked knowing that Sam could not be the only reason for his seeking council.

Rafiki had a point there, the mandrill was right, it could have been someone else as well. Yet, Simba had that feeling it was his father. Why would another Great King guide the boy here if not Mufasa? His father was the only one he had relationship with. It was a little bit disturbing that he still needed to wait for the answer, however, he had no other choice but hope They would give it to him soon. Simba had always been wondering if Rafiki was a mind-reader on the other hand. Of course, it also could be that he had known the lion for many many years. Simba was thankful for the question. "Yes, it's... I am worried. Kiara told me about some lionesses in the Outlands. They belong to Zira's pride and decided to stay away from us after the battle. Kiara wants to them to join us, but it can be dangerous. We don't know what their real reason is for staying away, one reason can be that they still accept Zira as their leader and blame us for her death. In that case, they might want to take revenge on us, especially on Kiara because she was down there in the Gorge with Zira." He hated the tought of losing his daughter.

Rafik listened intently to Simba and his worries. From the past few weeks, Kiara had done well as Queen Regent, caring for the Pridelands and keeping good relationships with their neighbors. Rafiki had even begun to visit the Outlands himself to offer his advice to the young queen, Jasiri.
"Who told this to Kiara? And what was the story?" Rafiki had known many of the Lionesses who followed Zira to the Outlands. Most had turned their backs on the war and returned to Pride Rock with the Pridelanders. But, he had noticed a few that were missing himself.
"Where were their names?" Rafiki asked as he sat stood with Simba. TAG: SimbaLOCATION: The pool bear Pride Rock in the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

"It's Mwana, Namke, Inyere and Lesedi. You might know them." Simba took a short pause here to give Rafiki the opportunity to recall. "Mwana and Namke were very close to Zira, even I remember them, they were the first lionesses who chose to join Zira after Scar's death. The other two are not Outlanders originally, but Zira forced them to join and Inyere became Nuka's mate. Her cubs are Nuka's descendants, thus Scar's bloodline. Mwana and Namke left the Outlands after Zira's death, but the other two are still there - and Kiara wants to invite them."
The lion took a pause here again, getting lost in his thoughts about the possibility of join of a Scar's heir. Simba had doubts about it like he had said before. What if Inyere and her cubs want to follow in Scar's pawprints? What if they want to take revenge for Zira's death? Before making any decisions he wanted to know what Rafiki's opinion was about them.

Rafiki nodded as he mentioned the first two names and listened to Simba tell the story about the four lionesses. He didn't speak at first about the information, did not wish to speak to soon. "We should speak to these two lionesses," Rafiki said to Simba. "But, this should be gentle... We do not know what life they had prior to Zira... Is there anyone in the Pride who knows Inyere and Lesedi prior to their forced join?" Rafiki asked Simba as they stood there
"Simba... We should not judge those by who they are linked with... Taka was not a bad lion, until his mind was lost," Rafiki said as he smiled at his friend. "The traits of Taka were good and noble until that mind was lost... That mind was lost due to the pain that came from the venom... The same pain that Kion was able to get help for." Rafiki motioned for Simba to walk with him. "I say we learn more and move from there." TAG: SimbaLOCATION: Near Pride Rock in the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

"Ukweli were their leader before they joined. Vitani knows them too. I wanted to talk to her anyway." Simba replied.
When Rafiki uttered the name of Scar, the lion's expression turn into a frown. The scar in Simba's heart was still too deep, whenever he heard the name he got frustrated inside. He had once loved and admired his uncle as cub, but this feeling had turned into disdain since the betrayal. From that moment on he had found out he was his father's murderer, he couldn't consider Scar as a family member anymore. He was not his uncle, only a strange lion to him. And this was why Simba had trust issues when it came to an Outlander who was linked with Scar - be it Kovu (like before) or Nuka's cubs. "Venom or not, yet, Scar decided to follow the Evil, despite my son who wanted to get healed. It was up to Scar to choose between the two ways, but he chose to be a murderer." His voice sounded firm. The lion stood up and started following the mandrill. "It was in his blood, therefore we have to be careful with his descendants."

Rafiki nodded with Simba. It was good that Simba was going to talk to Vitani. That would help them all see things more clearly. When the subject came to Taka, Rafiki let out a sigh and slumped his shoulders. It was a subject that pained him greatly.
"Simba, Taka was not blame fully for that... By time Kion was hurt, I had the knowledge and means to help him... That took many years to learn about... I had no way of helping Taka with his pain," Rafiki explained to Simba. It was very much a sign that Rafiki felt guilty for some of what happened to Taka.
"By time word came from The Tree of Life that they could help him, it was too late... Taka had already gone mad from pain, my medicine did not work... I found Tuliza the wet season after and I offered it to him, but it did not help him," Rafiki said as he walked, using his stick as a support, even if he did not truly need it.
"If evil was in the blood of Taka, who was a full brother to your father... Then where would it have come from?" Rafiki was hoping the words would make Simba think. If Taka had evil in his blood, he would have inherited it from a parents or grandparent. Which would mean, to Simba, that the evil could pass down to anyone sharing those same traits. "Kion chose to forgive Taka in the volcano... It is time, everyone chooses that path..." Rafiki said calmly to Simba before he looked to the Pride Rock.
"I leave you to your rest, Simba," Rafiki did not stay longer, for he went on towards his own home and tree. TAG: SimbaLOCATION: Near Pride Rock in the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

As Simba was left alone, he started pondering. The words from Rafiki reached his mind deeply. Maybe he was too hard-hearted? Maybe he should change his point of view? Simba was too tired to think about it, so he made his way towards Pride Rock too, with stars shining in the darkness of night.
