GENERAL INFO
Personality: Clay Greyson is not a bad man, though very ambitious and determined to see things through. He is also a man who follows his orders to the 'T', which isn't always good for things. The man is third generation army, having risen to the rank of Captain with hardwork. Both he and his father served in WWI together and he was at the same battle his father died at. This has affected him greatly, especially since he knew his father was disobeying a direct order when he was shot by enemy soldiers. It is why he believes that following orders from higher up is important.
He takes care of his own, making sure the men under his command are well looked after. He admires those who take passion in their work and though he does not understand it, enjoys seeing the passion of those doing anything. However, his one track mind is hard to sway and when following orders, making him see a different way is hard.
Things that different put him on edge, cause him to feel nervous. When things go side-ways, he goes into one frame of mind... Survival... He is constantly training himself and his men, putting himself in the best shape possible to battle the elements around him. He loves fiercely, but hasn't found love again since his late wife died in his arms after a failed child-birth. He has not allowed himself to find happiness, though happiness isn't always something you look for.
He copes with any form of depression by drinking, though recently that has been hard to do. He now deals with it by keep everything in order, keeping things in check when it comes to their supplies and the orders they have. He guards his secret orders closely, not allowing anyone to know about them but himself.

History: Before I can tell you about James Clayton Greyson, you need to hear about his family past. The Greyson family can trace their lineage back to before the revolutionary war. The family settled into the mountains of the Carolinas and fought against the British during the revolutionary war, along side others in the mountains. The family, though many English, is now a mixture of Native American, Scottish, English, German, and Jewish ancestry. As the years drifted past the Revolutionary War, there was peace and mostly family drama. Our story really begins during the time of the Civil War...
Brian Clayton Greyson had no intention of fighting during the Civil War. He kept to himself in the mountains of the Carolinas. His ancestors had never owned slaves, instead, they had hired the freed slaves from the area to protect them and keep them from those who would re-enslave them. Their plantation was large and grew all sorts of crops and trees, ranging from corn to cotton to tobacco and indigo. Brian had been lucky and stayed away from the fighting, until a Union troop showed up at his home in the Carolina Mountains.
The man demanded that he give up his things and tried to force him to hand over the slaves. They would be free to join the union armies. None of the freedmen wanted to leave Mr. Greyson, as they were already paid handsomely and were protected by the Greyson family. Upon hearing that the plantation was run by freedmen, the union was angry, because they felt they had had the upper hand. They left the plantation, only to return at night fall and torch the homes of the freedmen and Mr. Greyson's family home.
This cemented Mr. Greyson's place against the Union. He told his family and those who worked for him that he would be enlisting in the Confederate Armies and that anyone who wished to joined him could... He did not expect the freedmen to join him to fight against the union, as their homes had been destroyed by the union troops that night as well. Brian worked his way up the ranks to Captain easily and he lead his friends and family in many battles till the end... He returned to his plantation at the end of the war, angry that the union had won and gotten away with destroying the homes of several other friends who had no wish to fight in the war.
After the war ended, he continued to hire freedmen and women on his plantation, still gave them fair and high wages. In 1868, Brian Greyson wife gave birth to William Clayton Greyson, who grew up into a fine-strong young man. Like his father, he joined the US Army in his twenties. He married Abigail Elizabeth Fraser, a woman from a neighboring ridge and she gave birth to James Clayton Greyson several years later in the early 1900s. Some believed she was unable to have children.
They welcome three more children into the family within ten years of James’ birth. About years are 1907(female), 1909(male), and 1911(female). The family is happy and living on a military base in Georgia at the time of their last child's birth around 1911. William and Abigail were 43 and 41 at the time of their last child's birth. In Clay's youth, his father traveled back and forth on several military movements. He saw his father rarely, but enjoyed the time he did.
At the age of twelve(1917), Clayton watched his father leave their home for the last time to go fight in the Great War(WWI). Clayton was proud of his father for fighting, having heard about the death of Americans at the hand of Germans on ships out in the Ocean.
At the age of thirteen(1918), Clayton and his mother, Abigail Elizabeth Fraser, are told about the death of his father, William Clayton Greyson during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, died during battle. Not long after the end of the war, Clayton was around some of his fellow soldiers when he heard that even though it wasn’t on official paperwork, his father had died trying to save a friend, which resulted in him disobey a direct order.
At the age of eighteen(1923), Clayton follows his late-father’s footsteps and joins the United States Army. He excels in his training and is top of all his training units, which earns him ranking which allows him to lead. Like his father before him. He is stationed away from North Carolina for several years, starting in Texas. Clayton moved up rank and is a young officers who works hard to impress those. Being the son of a dead veteran, he is treated slightly differently, held to a much higher standard.
At the age of twenty five(1930), Clayton returns to North Carolina to serve his country. Clayton and Mary Ann McDonald are married on his family home, the old plantation that has been in his family for several generations in North Carolina, which ties back to their family before the American Revolution. The two are very happy, though it take several years for them to get pregnant.
At the age of thirty(1935), Clayton witness the death of his wife and unborn child during the pains of labor. It left with him a great hole in his heart, which has caused depression and a drinking problem. Being part of the military, Clayton heard of the several things Hilter was doing in Germany, which went against a treaty that was signed in 1919. The worry of pending war weighs heavy on his mind, which just adds to his reasons to drink a little more.
Some time later, he was approached by higher command and told about an expedition going to Africa in search of something special. The researchers had their own jobs, they wanted to learn. Clayton had his job... Find whatever special item and return it to the US Military for research for possible power and weapons. With a growing war in Europe once more, they knew it would only be a matter of time before the US was drug into the trenches again. With the hope that whatever it is the researchers are looking for could give the US a jump start. So, Clayton recruited a dozen soldiers with the best training and who has his complete trust to find this items... Unknown to them what it might even be... And protect the researchers in their expedition.
On their way into this place, a storm caught their plane, forcing them to abandon it and witness it crash. While Clayton, his team, and some researchers survived, a few didn't. For the first several days, Clayton has done all in his power to set up a base camp, make sure his men and those under his protection are patched up with what medicine they could find, and deal with the safety of their new home... His next step is finding a way to communicate outside of Africa and to find his way into the place called the Pridelands.
