Sam was nervous as hell. He’d received some sort of word that the king was coming back today. And with still no sign of any of the other humans - or adults he was going to have to be the face of his people. Him, a kid who came from the streets of Brooklyn and didn’t know the first thing about being around royalty. Let alone a damn king. Trying to make himself look as presentable as he could he chewed his nails. He wondered if they’d even said anything to him about Sam yet. Probably enough. But honestly… He was still an alien creature and he was a fully grown adult male lion and… Deep breaths Sam. He hadn’t done a single thing wrong while he’d been there. There was no way the king could be super harsh about it, right? Of course he could; and then throw him out on his own again. God he was so bad at inner pep talks. As he paced the mostly empty den, he tried to keep himself as calm as possible. “Get it together, Irons.” Simba

Simba has just been through an argument with his daughter, he was a little bit angry with Kiara for giving a human creature a chance so soon without getting him better, but before making any decisions he wanted to see Samuel with his own eyes first.
The news Simba had heard on the Great Summit made him worried, he felt his kingdom would be in danger again if any human being entered the Pridelands. Although he knew there were people who respected the Circle of Life, however, there were many who did not. Which group did this boy belong to? Who knows... That's why he was so unsure and sceptic about letting him stay.
"Greetings, Samuel," came the strong voice as the male entered the cave to meet him personally. "So you are the human my daughter was talking about. What brings you here?"

Sam jumped out of his skin. Simba was… Well, about as big as he imagined. Though he was a little lighter colored than Kovu and probably a little older obviously. Swallowing a little, he thought of how to best approach this. With the others, he mostly didn't share much. But with the king, he knew he had to be a bit more honest. His life might have depended on jt. So respectfully going on one knee in a bow. He decided to speak. “Your majesty, I’m uh… very sorry for the intrusion,” he explained. “It’s uh… A long story but I’ll try and keep it short.” After a moment, he sat cross-legged and started. “Where I come from… I didn’t have a home, or a family…. It’s a long story. But neither of my parents exactly wanted to be parents and my mom,” he cringed a little. Nope not going that deep. “Anyway, i spent a long time surviving on my own. Until I fell in with a man named David, he researches animals, helps them… Kind of like Rafiki.” He paused a moment. “About four months ago, this guy comes to our “den”. He says he’s going on an expedition to this place called “The Pridelands” searching for a place of great importance to us humans,” that was the best way to put he guessed. “It was supposed to be easy. We go, take a look, we weren’t even supposed to bother the animals… David was there to make sure of it.” Now the hard part… “But there was this storm… A big one, bigger than anything I’ve seen. It hit us within seconds. David… David was,” Probably the first time he’d actually talked about this tears stung his eyes. “Last thing I knew he’d shoved me out of our transport to safety. I woke up and everyone was gone… I found his body maybe a day later?” Trying to get a hold of himself, he shook his head. “Point is, I don’t know everything about why we’re here. Just that Kiara and Kovu found me when I was probably gonna die. Brought me here,” he explained. Trying to keep his composure. “But you now know everything I know.” In an attempt to reach out for other things, he added. “But your kingdom is beautiful, and I’m not here to do any harm. I’m just a cub in my society, we call them kids,” he explained. “But I will leave if you want me to. I’ve spent a lot of time the last two years working with lions. I respect your species and don’t want to intrude. I don’t care about whatever the others wanted to find. I just want to survive so David didn’t die for nothing.” He lowered his head slightly, preparing for whatever came next. Would he declare him a liar and an alien and eat him? Or hear him out? He didn’t know. Simba

Simba lowered his head to the level of his shoulders, tail swinging but not in anger or agression. He listened carefully to the human kid's story with observing eyes, trying to find any tricks - if there was at all. The concern based on what he had heard on the Great Summit prevented Simba from opening his heart. He was not able to. Not yet. He could see some sincerity in the boy's eyes, what Simba realized was that they both had something in common: to know how losing of a family member feels like. He recalled his father for a brief moment, and as he did - for some unexplained reason - he felt quietude inside. Was it a suggestion maybe? "Does anyone else know about our land?" Simba asked. It was an important question for the lion. David sounded like someone who had already known the treasures of the Pride Lands. If he did, there was a possibility that other might know too. "Are you the only one here?"

Sam looked thoughtfully at the lion’s question.
Was there anyone else? That was the million dollar question. Did others know? Well that was much easier a question to answer to say the least. “It’s complicated, a lot of people know about it. But most think you guys are just a legend,” Sam explained. “There were about 26 of us… But when the planes crashed… Well, I couldn’t see if anyone else survived.”
It was the honest truth of the moment. Of course he wasn’t sure if he knew what their intentions were - but he at least hoped they were good. “I don’t think anyone would cause trouble but I can’t promise either,” he admitted. “I only knew them for like a day…”
He then explained, with all honesty. “If you’re asking if you’re in any immediate danger. I don’t think so though,” he explained. “No one else knew me on the plane - and I have no one who’s going to come looking for me back home. As far as I know I may be it.”
His eyes moved to the side as he mentioned. “I probably wouldn’t have even been there if I hadn’t heard this voice in my head,” he replied. Tapping the side of his head. “”Remember who you are… Keep your strength. Keep going.” All the way there. Rafiki thought I heard someone but I’m not convinced I wasn’t just dehydrated and dying…”

So other people knew about them! Argh - the male let out a low growl and started pacing up and down in exasperation between him and the entrance, being frustrated, meanwhile he kept listening to the boy's words. What to do now? The thought of Kiara saying from reports no signs of any other human had been found yet made Simba slow his pace down.
When Sam started talking about the voice in his head, Simba stopped suddenly and looked back at him over his shoulder. "What?" He asked out of curiosity rather than in anger, turning towards the boy. "What was the voice like?"

Sam was a little surprised by his response.
Did something he’d said meant something to him? Sam didn’t know, it was something he wasn’t sure about. But all the same, he decided to answer to the best of his ability. “Deep and soothing… I don’t know how to describe it really,” he said as he looked off to the side. “Like the kind of voice that commanded the room. Like when I heard it somehow I knew everything would be ok…”
It was weird to think about that now, especially staring down a lion like this. He shook his head a little. “I heard it all the way until Kiara found me. Like it was guiding me here,” he admitted. “Like I said I was probably just losing my mind. Or hit my head.”
After all he didn’t want to sound insane.

"No, I don't think." Simba reacted, his eyes moving to the side. He didn't say more here, he didn't want to reveal the truth that his father could talk from the clouds. It was a treasure, a secret that only some were worthy enough to comprehend. Whoever the voice was, Simba definitely wanted to talk about it with Rafiki. If it was his father Mufasa, Simba was supposed not to miss the opportunity of his suggestion. Although he found it very unlikely, the description really sounded like his father.
"And did you see someone or only heard the voice?"

Sam tried to think.
Had he seen anything? It was an honest question, but when he thought about the first time he had heard the voice… One thing stuck out. There had been someone shaking him awake in the forest, or at least he thought it had been. But when he’d woken up he’d thought he’d been losing his mind.
But the more he looked at Simba, the more he realized something.
“Yeah, actually. When I first woke up in the jungle,” he explained honestly. “There was a lion… Kind of looked like you, but bigger. With these soft eyes… It was only a minute. I thought he’d been nudging me awake.”
His voice drifted a bit. “But even though I still heard that voice he was gone… Like a shadow,” he admitted. Shaking his head. “Like I said. I was probably just hallucinating.”

Simba's eyes widened, his jaw dropped a little bit. He was quite... shocked. Was it possible that his father had actually talked to a human? And if so, what was his goal? Why would Mufasa like to send such a dangerous creature to the Pridelands? The lion couldn't find the answer. He was puzzled...
"Alright," the lion spoke finally. "I have not made the final decision about you yet. Till I make it you can stay here in the Pridelands."
