Fair. He could at least learn.
He decided to listen to Kovu’s instruction carefully. After all the last thing he wanted was to cause a scene. After all, he was the last person to want to cause trouble while he was on.. Probation he guessed? He didn’t know any other way to say it.
Finally, he responded to Kovu’s last question with a tap of his chin. “Just be aware they can probably blend in with their surroundings,” he explained. “We wear this thing called camoflauge, it’s a pain to tell. Look out for weird movement.”
Hopefully they’d lost that in the crash.

Kovu rolled his eyes, really the only way he could react to the claim... even if the reality was surely something far less crazy. The concept was still bad enough. "Blend in with surroundings..." he nodded. "We should be... sneaky then." he nodded, "At least it serves us well... we need to look without being too concerned, or too... quick to share." It seemed the best idea for now.
They would soon be moving, and on their way to the floodplains. There, they would find increasing amounts of crowds.... the herds seemed to have left, or not arrived yet. Either way, it was a more disorganized crowd of various animals they encountered. "You ask the questions... Be... um... conversation...al." he advised, his tone definitely far from a command, simply an idea.
Eyes would be on Sam, but they would turn away and back to what they were doing thereafter... but a few had their attention on him, but less directly... Those who were interested, or just liked being aware of things. They might make for the type to talk to as a result, but the ones that weren't had their own leanings as well. Perhaps that same fear of worry... it may go either way on who, if any, could provide information!

Sam nodded in agreement.
After all, the last thing he wanted to do was deal with a mass panic. He'd heard stories of stampedes from David, and the last thing they needed was to be caught in the middle of it! "Right, I'll ask the questions... That shouldn't be too hard." Sam replied. Even though he was a little nervous. He'd also always been the bold type.
As he approached the animals, he decided to just act like he always did. Not too over eager, but also not too scared. "Mornin' everyone," He announced happily. "Sorry to interrupt or anything. Kovu was just showing me around the places I hadn't been to yet. Y'know, get my lay of the land a little better."

The animals took notice of Sam; Looking first to him, to each other, and then back to him once more. A good bunch of animals moved back, a few forward but not very far... two of them noticeably moved forward. A rhino, and an elephant, clearly the more brave of those present. Or at least the most willing to talk.
"The lay of the land?" the Rhino asked, "What do you mean by that?" He let out a grunt, stepping closer still, with Kovu watching the scene intently, thinking what he could of the situation, whether clues or methods. The lion was about to speak, but stopped himself, letting things stay focused on Sam.
"What I mean is... What are you hoping to see?"
Kovu looked at Sam, his expression curious... he did ponder what the boy would find interesting at least, though he tried to think of ways to direct the conversation if needed toward helping him answer if anything.

Sam scratched his chin.
That... Was a very good question. Though he hadn't been expecting to be talking to a Rhino and an Elephant. To say that it might have been a little intimidating being an understatement in that sense. And yet, he had also worked with these types of animals before and had no problem... He needed to convince himself this was no different, just that now when he spoke to them they understood and he wasn't just talking to himself.
"Well, I was kind of thinking of different places that I could easily fit into y'know? I'm sure that there are monkeys other than Rafiki here. And uh, we humans are kind of a great ape, sort of," Sam tried his best to spin what he was getting at as best he could. Without alerting he was looking into other humans. "But Kovu here, he isn't even sure where the monkeys go to socialize, y'know?"
