Kabili could not believe he was actually going to see the monkey.
Ok so Rafiki wasn’t all the bad. He’d been fun at his presentation and all, but going to the guy about advice? Seemed like a weird idea considering he’d supposedly seen him, and the crash coming. But then again, the mandrill was also the one with the deepest connection the “spirits” so here he was.
“Sam, you’re literally a lion prince now. I think we’ve passed the point of “weird”.” He muttered to himself.
Stopping at his habitat, Kabili sucked in a deep breath. Hopefully he wouldn’t sound too crazy, or at least Rafiki would have some idea of what he was talking about. “Hey Rafiki? Are you in here?” He called out, after all, it wasn’t like he had anywhere to knock here.

Rafiki was gathering more things for both paintings and for Kion and Kovu. Things would be needed and a few things he could not get from Pride Rock. He was filling his bag once again, when he heard his name called out again. He had become a popular mandrill, which caused him to chuckle. Grabbing his staff, he swung on a branch and fall down beside the young human-cub.
"Hello Kabili, how can I help you?" He asked as he tightened his strap and then leaned on his staff. "I was just about to head to Pride Rock to check on Kion and our visitor." TAG: Samwel IgweLOCATION: Rafiki's Tree in the Baobab Grove in the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

“I’m uh, mostly fine, thanks.”
Damn Rafiki was agile.
Maybe that was a little jealousy given he was still learning how to be that. But still, he shook it off a little. Also surprised by the fact he mentioned Kion and a visitor. What had happened? “Wait, is Kion OK?” He asked with a bit of worry. “I left the den early this morning, technically I’m still grounded for like a few days. But what dad doesn’t know probably won’t hurt him. Besides, I have a mission in a few days too and this is… Kind of important.”
God, there he was rambling because he was nervous again. He really needed to work on that. Chuckling nervously, he looked at the Mandrill for a long moment before adding. “Look, you uh… Hear things, right? Like the spirits and Simb - my anncestors and all that right?” He asked just coming right out with it. “But like you, Simba, Kion, you’re all like special cases. They don’t just talk to anybody, right?”
God he hated how hard it was to say something like this

"Good, I'm glad to hear it," Rafiki said as he began to walk towards Pride Rock, glancing over his shoulder to make sure the human-cub was coming. He used his stick to allow him to walk a little higher than a normal mandrill and he looked ahead, listening to the sounds of nature. At the question of Kion, he stopped and nodded. "Yes, yes... Kion is okay... His duties as Leader of the Lion Guard caused him to have a run in with the Hyenas... He will be fine." Rafiki was reassuring to everyone.
Kion would be okay, he was sure of that. As well as Kovu, though he knew things were tense between Simba and Kiara due to the visitor. "Yes, I believe I heard a little something about that... You should be careful, Kabili... Such places should not be explored with such carelessness," Rafiki said in a warning tone, but his face was still gentle as he looked at the human-cub.
As Kabili asked his question, Rafiki listened and took in everything before he came to a stop along the trail. "The spirits can speak to anyone they wish, Kabili... Mufasa did for you when you were in trouble... But, they will most the time touch those who have a strong connection to them or who are in a vulnerable state... You were hurt and needed help, that is why you were connected to Mufasa... That being said, Simba was not very connected to them until before he returned to Pride Rock... But he was in a vulnerable state of mind." Rafiki hoped he could explain more to the young human-cub.
"As for your ancestors, I am sure we can make a connection them, but with humans being so long gone from these lands, connecting to them might take many months or years, no one has ever done it, but the great kings like Mufasa and Ahadi, may be able to help," Rafiki explained as he began walking again down the trail. Well that was a relief.
Of course, he didn’t need to be told twice that he had to be more careful. But he was quick to listen to exactly what Rafiki had to say about the spirits. Which surprised him. Honestly, he understood what Rafiki said about being in trouble or needing them, but a strong connection? That time in the forest hadn’t been the last time he’d heard Mufasa - and it surprised him to think…
“Well it’s a little more complicated than that, Rafiki,” Kabili explained as he continued to follow thinking of his approach. “I didn’t just hear his voice in the forest. I’ve heard it… A couple of times. Usually when I’m alone or I’m thinking about the reason we came here in the first place.”
He then added. “I guess my major question is why would they try to reach out to me more, lion spirits I mean. It just doesn’t make sense. Maybe when I was weak but,” he paused. “I mean I’m not really Royal blood. I’m not an actual lion. So why am I hearing this… Stuff I guess?”
God, he sounded like a weirdo, didn’t he?

Rafiki allowed the young human-cub to absorb what he said. Sometimes, even Simba had to absorb what he said, even Kion would one day. It took time to understand the spirits and the ways of the Pride Lands and the world as a whole. As the human-cub spoke again, Rafiki thought about his words carefully.
"The spirits must have a reason and it is one that should be explored," he said calmly to the human-cub. "Since he has spoken to you before, I suggest you try and make contact intentionally, maybe he will tell you why he has taken an interest in you." Rafiki said as they walked, stopping under a shady tree to rest for a moment. The heat of the savannah, everyone needed to rest sometimes. "The spirits do not just pick lions or royal blood to make contact, young Kabili, it is their choice who and when to contact." TAG: Samwel IgweLOCATION: Trails in the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

Kabili… Hadn’t once thought about trying to contact Mufasa.
It was a weird thought, especially since a few months ago he would have thought the whole idea was insane. But why had they taken such interest in him? It was always a good question in his mind when one considered it all. Something he voiced after a few moments. “I guess I just don’t understand why I was chosen,” he explained honestly. “We all landed here at the same time. It could have been any of us. Could have even been my mom if she survived the crash.”
He wasn’t sad as he was saying this, more thoughtful than anything. After all he’d started to come to terms with his mother’s passing and didn’t feel a strong desire to break down about it. So as he took a deep breath he added. “But for some reason, they chose some kid who had never even seen a jungle until all of this,” he explained. “Now they think we have a lead on Zion. All because I didn’t let it go because that voice in my head told me not to.”
He then added. “I don’t know maybe I’m overthinking it,” he explained. “It’s just hard to believe a few months ago I was playing baseball in an empty lot and now I’m… Royalty. Hearing spirits. Stuff like that. I’m just worried they’ve made some sort of mistake.”

Rafiki let out a laugh at the human-cub as he pondered everything before him. "No one know the reasons of the spirits, Kabili." It was entertaining to Rafiki how little humans understood the spirits, but he was not surprised, many did not have a strong spiritual connection. As Kabili continued his pondering, Rafiki kept on walking towards Pride Rock.
"You are young and easy to connect with, Kabili... Even older animals have a had time connecting to the spirits, sometimes even Simba and it is due to many reasons, sometimes worry or too busy to pay attention," Rafiki said as he continued head towards the home of the Lions.
"The spirits do not make mistakes... And yes, you are overthinking it... Shwari, Kabili, calm yourself and just let it feel as natural as you can," Rafiki said as he touched him on the shoulder and smiled. "I can not imagine what it is like for you, as I was raised with this being normal, but you feel come to understand in time," he said in a reassuring tone. Kabili did think about that a moment.
He hadn’t thought of his youth but for the first time he was thinking about it. Most of the humans on the expedition were adults, but he and Tara had been kids. Was it that simple? He knew in his culture… “Well there is a belief in human culture that kids can see and hear more of the other side. I guess I just didn’t think about it before.” He explained. “If I were being totally honest though. I always kind of believed in magic. I mean just look at the world, right? You can’t tell me this all just happened without a little of it.”
Relax, that was probably a good idea. Though he had other things to say too, at least. “I know I should. I just have been thinking about it a lot since I knew we were going to look for Zion,” he explained honestly. “I think since the graveyard too… Like I do wonder what we’ll find there for a reason - same reason I’m worried about finding the adult humans first.”
He then added. “Doesn’t it strike you as weird that humans are just now coming back?” He asked. “I’m starting to worry if they did contact me because I’m young… Adult humans did something. Something we can’t take back no matter how much some spirits believe we can.”
