Underneath a grove of trees, away from the watchful eyes of the Pridelands birds, and quite intentionally at that, Kovu limped along, his breaths heavy. Scrapes along his sides, whatever had left the cuts behind had healed by now, but that did not mean the cub was "alright". His pace slowed to a crawl, until he collapsed into a crawl. Still both moving, and breathing, but slowly. Kovu himself had not noticed the worst of his injuries, not until it started scraping against the grass, leaving him to make a pained moan.
His stomach! Whatever had gotten him, had left teeth marks, he succumbed quickly, laying on one side to not lay on the cut, which would only expose it to whomever found him. He used his last bit of strength to make a loud noise. "Meow-oo!... Meow!-oo...-oo..." a dreadful sound! He wasn't too far, someone would have to hear him!

Kiara had taken to walking along the border to help Kion. Her father wouldn't have approved, she understood his reasonings, but she would one day be the Queen of the Pride Lands, the protector of the lands her father guarded as well. If he could trust Kion, a cub younger than herself, he needed to trust her as well. With everything going on with Njaa's threat growing, she needed to be on her toes. The sound of birds caught her attention and she headed over towards a tree where some birds had finally settled.
"Adwoa?" Kiara called out to a Red and Yellow Barbet that she recognized. "What is wrong?" The Barbet turned towards her and jumped at the sight of Kiara, though calmed down.
"Oh! Princess Kiara... Thank Goodness you are here... Over there, but the small grove of trees is a lion... He is dark in color and very scary... But we don't know him," Adwoa said to her, which sparked her interest. A dark colored lion?
"Thank you Adwoa... I will go and check on it," she said before she took off at a easy trot and slowly made her way over. She lowered herself to the ground and was careful as she looked over the grasses. "Kovu?" She perked up and quickly leap out from the grass and walked over to him. He was badly beaten and she feared whatever had done this to him had been the same that had attacked her brother. Walking over, she nudged his cheek with her own, taking in his sent and his warmth.
"Kovu?" She whispered, hoping to get him to wake up enough to tell her what happened. TAG: @kovu LOCATION: Border in the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

The familiar brown lion's nose wiggled... he knew that scent! It's not like he had any other lions to smell. "Kiara...?" his eyes came open, he had to see her, his emerald-green eye opened, and he turned... then yelped, laying back down, moving to where he was touching his scratches and that bite the least.
He was too hurt to be ashamed, "Kiara! I... can explain." he took a shallow breath, "I'll be okay. I just need to rest... I s-sprinted the whole way here." he said, "Heh except for..." he pointed his nose at the bite mark on his gut. "I could have crawled the rest of the way if not for that..." he groaned. "J-just make sure no one sees me here, okay?" he asked, despite his claims he was bleeding out slowly. He absolutely needed to get moving, or be moved.

His emerald eyes came open and she closed her own with a sigh of relief. Well, he was alive, that was a plus. But he looked in bad shape... The sound of birds making their noises made her glance up and she turned to see the Adowa, the Barbet fly over to her. "Adowa, it is okay... He is a friend, please calm your friends down," Kiara said, earning her a nod from the bird who flew over there.
Sooner or later, one of those birds were bound to say something to another and it would get to Simba that a strange young lion was here. If he came, she could only imagine what might happen. No, she would need to get him to Pride Rock herself somehow, so she could be the one to speak first, before her father could think up something.
"Shh, you can tell me later, rest for now," she said to him as she looked him over and winced at his wounds. They were around the same age and she wasn't sure if she could carry him herself. Oh, she was going to need her father, but what would Simba do when he got here? Would he at least be calm until Kovu healed before asking questions? Kovu looked at her, and then the birds... he growled, or tried to anyway. His snout twisted. "It's too late." he lamented, "He's going to find out... I... hate to ask but... protect me from him." He might say he couldn't rest when he feared Simba coming, but... he put his trust into Kiara, and laid still, except for his breathing, eyes closing, a smile on his snout at seeing Kiara again.

At his words, she smiled and nudged him gently with her muzzle before she lifted her head and looked at the birds. "Adowa?" The Red and Yellow Berbet flew over and landed on a high branch, well out of the way of the strange lion. Kiara looked at him and smiled at his now resting form.
"Go and get my father... Tell him I was fine, but that I found another hurt near the border, to please hurry," Kiara said, earning a nod from the bird. She knew that her friend would relay the message exactly and returned to watching over Kovu. She watched his breathing, but kept a close eye on the horizon for her father. When he did come into view, she went to meet him. It would hopefully cause the Lion to stop before he got to Kovu and the wind would be blowing the scent away from them. Simba could not be at his son's side as much as he liked, but any free moment he would make time to check on him. No assurance could pull him away, and not even some of his duties! He would surely have sent someone else to check on them, if it wasn't Kiara that sent Adowa for him. This was bad news, she had disobeyed him certainly, but she had to have a good reason... his gut sank. "Tell Kiara that I am on my way!" he said, just barely hearing out her response before he got moving.
-Time Passes-
Upon the king's arrival, he saw Kiara, unharmed as he had been assured. "Kiara! What is going on?" he asked as soon as he spotted her, even before he spotted the brown cub... and the moment he did, his questions were answered. His expression went cold, his eyes became a glare, and combined with his silence said more than words could, as he waited for her explanation.

Kiara stood there strong as her father came towards her and she glanced towards the wounded Kovu as her father found him with his own eyes. She did not allow his silence to force her to wavier from her place. "Dad, I was walking the border, with Kion down for the moment, someone needs to check the border... So, I took along the trail here... A marked and well known trail..." She said calmly to him before she looked over her shoulder at Kovu.
"Adowa and her friends were making a bunch of noise... A panicked sound, so I went to check on them... They pointed me in that direction and I found Kovu..." She said, the sound of concern on her voice and a looked that showed true worry. "Dad, he is my age... And he is hurt... Badly... Maybe as badly as Kion was or near it," Kiara said to her father, her eyes again wondering towards Kovu again.
"You can scold me like a cub back at Pride Rock, but he is coming with us to be seen... I will not let another die because we neglected to get a wounded lion, help..." She said strongly and firmly to her father. She was going to be the future queen and she had to strange her ground sometimes. TAG: @kovu, SimbaLOCATION: Near Border in the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

Simba stood fierce, but every word Kiara spoke was on point. He would be proud of her had they been directed toward anyone else, and he would react aggressively had they come from anyone else. Maybe someday she would hear that praise, but not now.
"And is he an outsider. Not just any outsider, but Kovu himself." he restrained himself from yelling. "He shouldn't have come here." he said sternly. "He came to visit you." he came closer to Kovu, "He put us, all of us, in danger. I won't let him die, but he is going back home as soon as we can get rid of him." he snarled as he picked Kovu up with his nose and paw. It was more difficult than using his teeth on the cub's neck... maybe he didn't trust himself not to finish the job, he put Kovu onto his back, as he did Kion not long ago.
"Stay with me." he ordered. "We will discuss what this means for you after we hand him over to Rafiki."

"He is the cub of an outsider... He did not get to chose his mother or father... And we don't even know who his real father was," Kiara said sharply to her father, a snap she may or may not regret later, but she would deal with that if it came to it. "And we haven't seen each other since the day I met him, so why do you think, in his current state, that he would be coming to me... It looks like he was trying to flee," she said, though Kiara was not leaving him behind and he was not leaving his head.
Her ears flicked back at his last words, but she nodded. It wasn't surprising for her to have to deal with that, she knew it was going to come, but she wasn't going to coward in fear either. "I won't leave your side," she said, though whether it was at Kovu or Simba, it was hard to say. TAG: @kovu, SimbaLOCATION: Headed Into the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

Simba looked at his side, at his daughter. "He's as evil as the rest of them. Just as manipulative, and I do not like that you take his side already." he held back a snarl, but barely. "Why else would he come somewhere that he knows very well that he is unwanted?" he said.
That said, he got started moving, at a pace that Kiara could keep up with, as mad as he was, he would do his duty as king and help this young cub until he could hand him over to Zira.

Evil? Did being related to someone who did bad things make one evil? If that was the case than she could think of a few people in there Pride that needed to leave and they were one of them. "We don't know why he came here... But if he is evil because of those he is related to, then maybe we should look at ourselves... Seeing as you are the nephew of one of the most evil... Where did his evil come from? Hmm?" She didn't hold back her sharpness.
"I take his side because you are biases because of his mother and the lion she chose to align herself with, someone he had no choice over," she said as she kept an easy pace with him. "What is evil is not allowing him a chance... By treating him guilty when he has done nothing... And if you do that, then I guess we will know who truly is evil," Kiara spoke with the maturity that came after years of learning from her parents and Rafiki. She also felt it is the right thing to give everyone a chance. TAG: Simba, @kovu LOCATION: the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

Simba couldn't hold in his growl at his daughter's words. She had impressed him before, and now she had truly angered him. "Kiara!" he practically roared. "You do not talk to your father that way!" he yelled, ""Scar killed my father, and destroyed the Pridelands because we trusted him! We cannot be so blind. especially with enemies on all sides." he stopped to look Kiara in the eyes. "I will not repeat my father's mistake. Leaving you to grow without a father, like I did!"
He turned away after he was done, quickening his pace. "I will argue this no further! He is not our problem!"

Kiara had been prepared for the yell and she stood firmly before her father as he yelled at her. Kiara would not show her fear. "I will speak my mind, Dad... As the Princess I have that right to speak my thoughts," she said to him firmly as she continued to walk with him. "Your father did not make the mistake, but you would by sending a cub back to a lioness like Zira... Apparently, she did not prevent him from being harm and what kind of mother does that?" She growled at her father.
If Zira allowed her own cub to be hurt in this way and then to not come find him, then she was not fit to be a mother. "And by sending him back, he could well be molded by her to become our problem... Sending him back to that place would be the mistake... And would prove exactly what kind of king you are... One that allows his hatred for one lion to cloud his judgement over a cub." Kiara said as she looked ahead. Yeah, she would likely be grounded. "And by doing that, you will have lost my respect."
Okay, maybe she might have taken that too far, but for years she had been taught about respecting the circle of life. Was it not more respectful to help a cub and be sure he was taught about the circle of life, instead of being raised to harm it? That is what Zira would likely do, right? Simba sped up as Kiara continued to argue, until he stopped completely. "We know nothing except that he got hurt doing something he shouldn't have been doing." he countered, if one could call it a counter. He was blinded, and it was obvious to his daughter right now.
"We can't let Zira's bad parenting be our problem, one that we cannot deal with." his eyes narrowed at Kiara. "He is not just a cub!" he yelled, then roared. "He is Scar's!" he stepped forward. "As soon as we get to Pride Rock, you are going to the den! Your mother will decide your punishment, since you don't respect your father!"
