Paw pads quietly walked along the path that lead up to the cliffs over looking the plains. It was known to have a beautiful view of the Pride Lands and she needed the peace. With the recent death of her own father, she felt a little empty inside. She knew it was part of the circle of life, but it didn't help that he was gone. Greens eyes settled on the plains once she made it to the edge of the cliffs. Her father liked to come up here and think, maybe it would be helpful to her to think here.
As she looked around, she found herself laying at the edge, her eyes looking towards the direction of Pride Rock. What was her brother doing? It was nice to have her brother back in the Pride Lands and she wondered if Simba would put him in a patrol to help protect the Pride Lands. She didn't know... She knew it took all of them to protect the Pride Lands, but today she needed a moment to herself.
With the death of her father, she had been on edge and stressed. Her mother was still heart broken over the ordeal. She believed that the death had come from the battle with her father, that the injuries never fully healed. Inyere trusted her mother's thought on that, plus the strain of worry he likely had didn't help. Then the journey back to the Pride Lands when Simba returned. Inyere let out a sigh before placing her head down on her paws and looking out over the Pride Lands quietly. TAG: @username LOCATION: Mekundu Cliffs in the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

Inyere's brother was not the only one to be protecting the Pridelands, not even close. But Inyere should already know that. The land was huge and the kings' authority, tall. Enemies lurked everywhere, from the hyenas and jackals that planned to take a bite out of the green plains, to the eventual raiders and other riders that might show up at the border.
The steps were silent as the lion cub approached the lioness from behind, coming to her right and collapsing next to her with a groan of pain. Kion's fur was ass messed up and dirty. There were scratches everywhere, especially on his chest and his paws. Today had been a rough day and, by the looks of it, he almost didn't make it.
"H-Hey, Inyere... This is a great spot to relax, right?" The lion groaned out as he let his body sprawled on the ground. There seemed to be a patch of blood on his paw as well, but his silent steps would have rendered any limping impossible to hear.

Well, whatever Simba wanted to do with Chedo, she had no issue with it. Being the eldest sibling, she did concern herself with their safety, but they were still her younger siblings and she would fret over them like she did many times. The scent of blood touched her nostrils and she lifted her head suddenly.
Was that? Kion? She knew his scent, it was known to all the lions of the Pride Lands. As leader of the Lion Guard and Prince, the Lions and Lionesses were quick to know his scent from everyone. She was about to stand to search for him when he plopped down beside her and she flinched in surprise. He was getting better at his sneaking up on others... That was good.
"Kion? What happened?" Inyere asked in concern as she looked at the Cub. Even if he was leader of the Lion Guard, he was young and still had a lot to learn. "Yes, it is a nice place to rest and regain your strength, but you seem to need some help Kion... Maybe from the Royal Mjuzi?" Inyere said in a suggestive tone, but still very respectful. Even if he was the Prince, she knew injuries when she saw them. TAG: KionLOCATION: Mekundu Cliffs in the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

Kion was sprawled out like he literally just collapsed don't he ground- which he did. He tried to arrange his posture to be at a normal laying down position, in honour of the lioness next to him, but after a groan, he gave up. It hurt too much, everyone hurt too much. He had to... rest...
"N-No, I'm fine," His voice tone said something else "I-I'm fine, I just need to... Rest a bit so I can go... Nghww... T-To night... patrol" Eyes closed as his head rested half on his front paw, half on the grass under them. "H-He's probably busy helping d-dad. W-We don't need to disturb them, d-dad is busy with king stuff... Probably. Way more important than this s-scratch" Or a rather bloody paw.
"I-It was Njaa," Kion said "He and his hyena buddies... they are growing in number, they are dangerous" he warned, his claws leaving his mittens for a second there as he thought about the hyenas.

Inyere was calm as she watched him try and reposition himself before giving up and just staying where he was. Her eyes looked out over the Pride Lands and she searched for anyone who might be able to send word to Simba. Kion was hurt badly, she could see it, even if his words said he was fine. Though he was correct that he needed to rest, he needed someone to tend to his wounds immediately. To her knowledge, the young lion had not chosen the members of his Guard, which meant he was doing a lot of this on his own.
"Kion, this is more than just a scratch," Inyere said as she moved herself to really get a good look at him. "And nothing is more important to your father his children," Inyere said firmly before she looked back over the plains from the cliffs. Moving him at the moment was out of the questions and she looked to the sky. Maybe the great kings of the past would send a blessing? Oh, Inyere hoped so, she knew she was going to need help for Kion.
At the words about the Hyena's, Inyere growled lightly and narroed her eyes. "Have you chosen your guard members yet? You need more help dealing with them." Chedo must have been in another part of the Pride Lands, but what about the other Lions and Lionesses. Until he chose his guard, Kion did not need to go on patrols alone. In the distance, not a single lion could be seen. There was a group of Zebras there, but nothing other than that. Perhaps they would be close enough to hear?
"N-No, he... He needs to do his stuff" Followed by another groan "I-I'll be fine, we don't n-need to bother him, the p-pride needs him..." Kion seemed to continue talking as it took his mind away from the pain. But hey, you should have seen the other guy! Of hmm.. Guys.
"I h-haven't... Not all of them... I've got one... member. But d-dad doesn't know about her yet. Someone has to... p-patrol. I'll do it, it's my job" He tried to get himself up, inspired by his own words and the worthiness of his title. He got further than before, able to lift his head, get his chest off the ground "I'm the Captain of the Lion Guard..! I have to make dad proud-" And he collapsed once more on the ground.

The Zebras could likely relay a message, but would they hear her? Well, they might, but the likelihood of some of it being lost due to distance was not worth the chance. Though she could not see any lions, she could let out her own roar to get the attention of any within the Pride. Chedo was likely near by, he always seemed to stay close... Or Lesedi. His siblings could take over the night patrol, while she got him to Pride Rock.
"Kion, the Pride Lands need you too... Healthy and healed..." She said in worry while she listened to him speak about the one member of his Guard. Well, at least that was someone, but if he had someone on the guard, where was she? Maybe she was patrolling the other side of the Pride Lands. When he tried to get up, she got up as well, ready to steady him, but he fell down once again.
"Kion, please don't..." She didn't give him a chance to protest before she let out her roar, knowing the sound would carry for a great distance. She repeated the sound, but kept standing over the young lion to be there for him. If he got up and stumbled, the edge of the cliff was right there. She did not wish him to fall down to the ground below.
"Being Captain of the Lion Guard does not mean you don't need help," she said softly, but firmly to him. Her eyes scanned across the lands towards Pride Rock and again, she let out the sound of her low roar. Someone was bound to hear it. Simba, at that time was indeed busy, but still he heard the roar, the call. It made him worried. "Something's wrong." he said, and dismissed himself from the meeting as quick as he could. "On Zazu's day off too..." he shook his head, and ran the direction of the lioness' roar. "Be ready, it might be a battle, or... find Rafiki, he might be needed!" a battle could mean wounded, and it could be anyone... Kion would be there, but he didn't fully believe in him.
-- A short while later --
Simba was moving at a quick pace, but not so quick he wasn't looking for the distress roar's source, there he spotted Inyere. "What's wrong?" he asked as he arrived, noticing his son only after he asked... and he froze up. "Kion...? he gasped.

"I-I'll be fine" The lion cub said with his eyes closed as the lioness prepared to roar and... That was a pretty nice roar! Kion had grown into a connoisseur of roars. Inyere had a good roar, he had heard it before. A bit lacking in mids but the bass meant it went quite far. And she had the strength in volume to back it. But it also brought some pleasure to the hurt lion that he knew he had the best roar in the land by far... That is, after his dad. Or so he thought.
The heavy steps of a distressed lion got Kion to open ups his eyes, Either a lion, or a leopard got too close and- What kind of heresy was that? Did he just confused the king with a leopard?!
Almost as it filled up with soul, Kion sprung to his sitting position, or something like that, any position that was more presentable than before. He ground his teeth but gulped down the pain. He was not able to do that before, but the mere sight of his dad got him to do so. There was also the fact he had one paw up and seemed to refuse to put it on the ground; his left front paw, which was covered, no, dripping in blood. "D-Dad!" The lion was all scratched up and bloodied almost as if he had just fought a horde of hyenas, even if he looked a couple of years too young to fight one.
Everything. Hurt. But. Must. Stay. Strong.

Inyere's eyes were on the horizon, though she kept a very close eye on Kion, who looked like he was in bad shape. This was a matter of great importance. He was attacked and the King needed to made aware so he could make a clear choice on what to do. When she saw the King, she bowed her head down before lifting it.
"Your majesty," she said simply as he came up and asked what had happened. She was about to explain when suddenly Kion sat up and tried to look better, but it was likely not fooling anyone with his paw dripping blood. "Kion, please... Please just rest," Inyere said before she turned her attention back to the King. "Simba, I was out here when Kion came upon me... In his current state... He told me he was attacked by Njaa and his hyenas... I felt it best to alert you immediately." Inyere hoped that this explained what needed to be explained. Kion was working his way toward being the heretic lion, right under his dear dad's snout, both figuratively and literally, as said snout came into Kion's chest to inspect him. "Kion!!" he yelled, just shy of a roar. "My son... Listen to your..." he paused, "Your friend!" he went with that, she didn't seem to be on the guard, friend was a safe bet. "You did the right thing!" he said, "Thank you." he was on the edge of panic himself, he didn't want her to panic, he inspected the blood, wincing... but he was brave. "Quick! While he's up, get him on my back. Kion, take it easy..." he scolded, as he moved next to Kion and crouched.
"We can get him to Pride Rock, to Rafiki!" he said, "Stay with me, make sure I don't... drop him." he shivered at the thought. "Njaa... We're not ready, the guard isn't ready. Kion isn't ready." he lamented. "I knew we weren't... he shouldn't be patrolling alone..." Simba was not mad, at least not mad at Kion.

Kion gulped down, his ears going flat... this was bad. He filled his chest once more "I-I am fine dad, I-It's not the first time, I'-I'll be alright" He tried to reassure both older lions, with a voice that sounded way, way too calm for this. Kion was good at this reassuring thing, but his paw was bleeding.
"I-I am ready, dad! I kept all eight hyenas from stepping into the Pridelands, I k-kept all of them out" A wince left his throat as he spoke "T-They are all gone" It was rather hard to keep this posture, but he couldn't back down now the king was here. Kion also wouldn't be able to offer much resistance if he was to be placed on Simba's back.

Inyere nodded to the King and watched carefully, keeping a close eye on Kion as well. At the instruction to help Kion onto his back and Inyere didn't hesitate. Simba needed to get him back to Pride Rock, even if Kion was stubborn.
"Yes and you did well, Kion... But those eight hyena have still injured you and you need to be taken back to Pride Rock," she said calmly to the Prince of the Pride Lands. He wasn't able to resist much and she helped to get him on there carefully. She listened to the King and he went on about them not being ready and she chose not to comment. Kion was still a cub, he had a lot of learn and he would learn it, she had no doubt.
"I will stay with you, your majesty," she said calmly, ready to walk with him to Pride Rock. TAG: Simba, KionLOCATION: Mekundu Cliffs in the Pride Lands COMMENTS: ^_^

Simba gasped at hearing those words, Kion had only made him worry more by saying this wasn't the first time. "K-Kion..." he gasped out, but he could hardly say a thing. He trusted that as amazing as it sounded, he wasn't lying about the hyena attack. He was as proud as he was terrified. He smiled at Inyere, but still said nothing, waiting until his son was on his back before he could finally muster words.
"Y-yes. I would like that." he had to be strong, it was clear Kion was trying to do the same and for that he was proud as well, he could tell his cub had grown up more than he realized. He began to walk, slowly at first to be sure of Kion's position. "My son, you don't need to act on your own. You are to lead the Lion Guard." he said sternly, "I am proud of you, but... I should be proud of your team." he continued on walking, and would check at this point if Kion had fainted or anything.

Kion was in bad shape, yeah, but you should've seen the other guy~ or other guys, in that case. Did he really say eight hyenas? By himself? That was was the Battle for Priderock stuff, that was a bit too exaggerated for a adult lion. Was the boy scout lying? Simba didn't seem to think so.
The leader of the Guard was ot going to climb on Simba's back, but he was in no conditions to prevent others from getting him there and once there his claws would stick to that mane like they would to yarn. He wasn't going anywhere. He was conforted by the way the lioness said what she did. Enough to soften his attitude, even with his king around. It was either that or he was starting to...
But as Simba spoke about leadinf the guard, he had to say something in return "W-We need to talk about that, I-I have news..." but his voice faded away as he passed out.
The Lion Guard was composed of... Kion as of now. And Kion. Who was he to lead? There were barely any lions around. He had heard about a certain strong lion cub, but that was about it. There was, however, another person on the guard already of which few had been informed.
