Kabili listened to what he kinda took as the only time he'd ever seen Zuri be a nervous wreck.
He had to admit, it was kind of amusing to see. Considering she absolutely always seemed like she had herself together. But right now, she looked like she was going to freak out. Crossing his arms, he decided to wait for her to spit out whatever she was going to say before he said anything. God knows how offended she might get if he didn't. OH... Oh. She wanted to make like a pretty graveyard? He honestly didn't expect that.
Rubbing the back of his neck, he looked thoughtfully off to the side. "I mean, I don't know. Mom and dad always seem to be open to new ideas, at least for the most part," He replied to her honestly. "I don't think you should write something off as being the wrong thing to suggest just because it's new. I think the best part about this whole thing is how much both of our species can and are learning from each other."

Zuri watched Kabili with intense anticipation, she seemed to calm as he looked just as timid and nervous, but it showed he didn't have much insight on how they thought. "For the most part? Well, uh... have they ever said no to an idea? Or... you know, told you not to do anything?" she sighed, pawing at the ground.
"Yeah, we're... totally learning a lot from you." she said with a dishonest smile, "I, I mean it. Don't tell his highness... your dad. I'll know." she narrowed her eyes, showing a bit of aggression but obviously from fear. She softened shortly after, "I'll talk to the queen and... at least I won't offend the king." she said, and glanced at Simba,.
"Guys... they just don't understand. I mean, yeah you do, but you act like a girl! Maybe that's why they want you to spend more time with Kion instead of Kiara." she giggled.

No? That was actually a good question. He really hadn’t found any human ideas that he said no to. Except maybe sharing a bit more of the rougher sides of human culture. “Well I mean, not a whole lot. But I haven’t told everything about humans either,” he admitted. “Not because I don’t want to just... Lots of things that I’m not sure I’m ready for people to know.”
Was Zuri sucking up? Or just wanting or trying to be “nice”. Putting his hands on his hips a little. “Yeah, if you’re feeling worried mom seems to usually be the more casual one. Dad has to be business sometimes,” he admitted honestly. Not that there was anything wrong with that. “Wait...”
Guys don’t get it? He acted like a girl? A part of him wanted to bark right back but at the same time he shook his head. “I mean I guess it comes from growing up with a single mom. It was only ever her and I. So I had to help with a lot of stuff,” Kabili admitted honestly. “I didn’t really have male role models until I got here. Except maybe at temple sometimes...”
Oh, temple. Should have kept his mouth shut. He bit his lip, considering that was probably going to be a question

The lioness cub's expression softened as Kabili showed that he did understand her, even if he disagreed with her. Not that she would think in any such way herself! "Right, you need to be careful with this human stuff!" that wasn't what the boy had said of course, and she knew it.
"Well yeah, I mean it in a nice way!" she smiled, turning to a smirk. "Temple? Wow, you really are a princess aren't you?"[/b] she teased, "If Simba doesn't mind this human stuff, I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you spent time with us lionesses." she knew what she was doing, her smirk and even some chuckling gave it away. She had glossed over what the Temple comment... was she that much of a ditz, or did she read his expression?

Kabili tried to hide it - but that last part hurt.
It was not like he was about to pour his heart out to Zuri of all people. But honestly, he had heard enough hate toward the temple to last him three lifetimes after WWII. And now Zuri - again - of all the people in his life had to make that crack? Honestly he wanted to punch her, but then again, what could he do? He guessed the answer was not much.
"Yeah, well, maybe later," He said through clenched teeth as he got to his feet. He noticed that Simba was seeming to wrap up and was seemingly motioning him over. "But my dad needs me right now if you don't mind. So..."
He was glad to be away from this conversation.

Zuri tilted her head in response, but she was not surprised he was mad at that, certainly she was well... not pushing too far, just enough, in her mind.
"Er, no offense meant, but yeah. I'll leave you guys to it." she gave a kind smile, "I'll see what the queen is up to, kay?" she returned to her normal smirk, and headed off out of sight... slowly enough that Kabili would be back with Simba by the time she was gone.

Simba had been unaware of Zuri until she was leaving him, and naturally questioned about her once Kabili returned.
"Was that Zuri?" he asked, surprised. "Oh, Kabili!" he addressed, "Have you thought about what we should write?" he asked, "I haven't thought of anything." he sighed, perhaps that's what kept him busy during the conversation with Zuri? His mood was otherwise up, he didn't seem disappointed about not thinking of anything at least, but had a hopeful air about it.

Kabili was quick to make his way to Simba.
Of course he would ask about Zuri, which was something he really didn't want to talk about. At all. His eyes turned to where Zuri had started off before looking back to Simba. "I uh... Yeah. She was just talking about some things to me, I guess," He said as he rubbed the back of his head. "I told you I'd at least try to get along with her. So here we are."
Huh? Had he thought of anything? On one hand, Kabili could definitely say some ideas at least. But on the other, Kabili also felt like it was such a... Personal thing. "Well, I could say a few things. But it's usually pretty personal when you talk about someone on a headstone. It's all about, what they were like. Or what they accomplished in life."
He then added. "Think about what Grandpa was like, in life I mean..."

Simba shrugged, "Well, good that she is talking to you." he said, "I guess she did listen to me." he continued his surprise, but was pulled out of it when attention returned to their purpose here.
He wasn't crying, but he might have been before, it was hard to say especially since he would be trying to hide it, if he had. "Of course." he nodded, "I never really knew what all your grandpa did. Just that he was a great lion." he sighed, clearly missing him. "I remember that he was wise, and brave." he said, raising one paw as he thought, clawing at the ground. "But mostly wise... that's what he wanted me to remember about him."

Kabili noted the look in Simba's eyes.
He knew that he was probably crying. After all, Kabili had done a lot of it when he'd done this for his mom before. It had hurt, having to say goodbye. But it had also done a lot to help him work through his feelings... Move on. Work through his grief. "Well, I think from what I heard he was definitely wise," He had already started carving Mufasa's name as they spoke onto the stone. "So are you though. You must get it from him." He chuckled. "Could say "Father, Husband, and Grandfather - Wisest of us All" or something."
He looked at his mom's grave for a moment. After he'd been silent for some time. "I put mom as "Lion in Heart and Spirit". I thought it fit with everything else," he explained honestly. She'd spent so much time protecting them anyway. "There's just all kinds of things you can do honestly."

Simba gave his son a nod, "Right." he said simply, watching as Kabili carved. "I wouldn't say that, about me, I mean." he shared, "Right..." the husband comment did make him remember his own mother. "Like a father to us all." he said, which his tone turned to a suggestion, "A father and a king... or something like that?"[/b] he asked, hoping that Kabili could help him make it sound more poetic.
"It is a very difficult and personal thing." he lamented.

Wouldn't say that? Kabili frowned a bit, as if he were considering why he would put himself down like that. But he also knew that Simba struggled with self-doubt, they both did. "I mean you've been wise since I got here anyway. The unwise one would have thought I was crazy and left me to die," He admitted jokingly. Nudging the lion in the side a little playfully. "Now we're getting closer to figuring stuff out... Not to mention you've taught at least one more person a thing or two. Seems pretty wise to me."
Kabili nodded as he mentioned a father and a king. It was simple, poignant. "Honestly, that sounds perfect. It doesn't always have to be... Complicated. Just from the heart," He explained as he finished carving the inscription carefully. His eyes lowered to the ground as he recited a quiet prayer in Hebrew. Which would have been foreign to most anyone, but seemed extremely fitting given he was being put to rest. "And that's it... Kind of. At home, we'd have a gathering - probably eat some food. That kind of thing. We call it a funeral."

Wise, Kabili insisted he was, and self-doubt wasn't about one's own wisdom... in front of his own child, certainly would not favor the illusion. Simba let out a sigh, "If you say so." he smiled, bringing Kabili's head toward him with his paw once he stood up. "You've taught me something too." he said, ruffling Kabili's head, and ensuring his head was turned toward the grave.
"Yes... we are done here..." he said, but were they really? He looked down at Kabili. "A gathering... yes we do that." he noted, "I'm sure they did, sadly I was not in attendance, as you know." he smiled, "We did things our way, way back then." he managed to not tear up, keeping his caring smile.
"We will bring your siblings here, of course... perhaps with Zazu? I do want them to have this same feeling we are having." he hrmed, "Not to... imply anything, but Kion might not be honest if you are with him. It will be his choice whom he is led by." he said, and with a brief pause he continued. "Kabili, I must return to my duties; You may accompany me if you wish. I'm sure you'll find something to do, otherwise." he chuckled, "I'm sure you've made friends by now, I understand if you feel embarrassed to follow your old man around." he said.
As he awaited Kabili's answer, as he started walking...

Kabili smiled as the lion ruffled his hair.
Taught him something? Now that had surprised him. Though he imagined that it was true with what he said anyway - the world went on. Honestly. “I’m just glad he got one. I gave my mom one, sort of,” Kabili admitted. “Even though it was just me it still mattered.”
Bringing the others there was a good idea though. He could imagine that the two of them would enjoy it. And simply nodded. “I agree. They’d want to see it too, I know.” He admitted. “They never got to know grandpa either.” He admitted honestly.
Of course, he did chuckle a little at Simba’s response about being embarrassed of following him around. “We can walk back together at least. But I did promise Bunga I’d catch him later today,” he admitted teasingly. A hint of interest in his voice. “... I actually wanted to mention something. Y’know... Before word got to you before... Well, y’know.”
He then added. “... It’s nothing bad. Don’t worry, I’m not like going to turn rabid or something. It’s just... There’s something about me where I come from I haven’t told you about yet,” he replied. “Mostly because I’m worried about how you’ll feel.”
After all, he had told plenty about the Holocaust and what Hitler had done to his people.

"Of course it mattered." he said, He hrmed as he listened, "Oh good, you are making some... fine friends." he smiled, but was definitely confused at what Bunga, Kabili, and Zuri could possibly have in common.
His fatherly humor returned to his almost stoic seriousness, when Kabili brought this something up. "Yes, son? he asked, with a hint of concern. "With all you've told me, why would you be worried about this?" he tilted his head. After all he had plenty to judge humans for, at the same time he was lead to believe this would be something worse... something he couldn't even fathom? "Tell me, I will understand." he claimed. "Go on." he added, impatient! If the boy didn't speak up, his father certainly would worry his head off!
