One thing was clear for anyone who didn't know who Kionw as and just met him: He was royalty. If the golden fur and red mane didn't speak loud enough, the posture and air of importance around him was un-missable. "I am the leader of the Lion Guard, it is my job to know everyone!" Well, he quickly corrected himself "... most people".
Kion sat down. Seeing this, the gazelle quickly moved out of the way, running to freedom back to her pack. Did Kion just steal her lunch? "I watched you take care of those hyenas, and protect this gazelle here." Did he not notice she was... hunting the gazelle? "This was great to see! I would have a hard time taking care of all those hyenas without using the Roar of the Elders, Fuli."
"And the Lion Guard is... Just me now. I am supposed to find the best lions around, but" And his eyes skipped to the right "There aren't many lions around. I know I am not supposed to, but Fuli, I would like to invite you to the Lion Guard." His head lifted, his eyes full of pride towards the cheetah. As if he had just invited her to be a queen of her own land. This sounded important, but how well did Fuli know the Lion Guard? "As the first ever cheetah in the guard. I don't know anyone faster than you in all of the Pridelands."

Fuli nodded along with this cub. She raised an eyebrow in confusion when he said she was protecting that gazelle. But he was royalty though, would it really be wise to correct him? She did beam with pride when he complimented her fighting skills. Fuli the cheetah, better fighter than the prince of the Pridelands and leader of the Lion Guard! Who woulda thought? Although that roar he mentioned did raise some further questions for sure. Be on the Lion Guard? Well, it did sound like a big adventure waiting to happen, that was for sure. Even though she only had a rudimentary grasp of what the Lion Guard actually was. "Ya got that right!" she said when he told her she was fastest. That was clearly something Fuli was very proud of. "But could you tell me what it is the Lion Guard does? And what is is? And what that 'roar of the elders' you mentioned is?"

Kion smiled when Fuli reacted to being called the fastest. He was quite happy that he made a good choice! Even if it should not be worth a lot coming from the spotted feline herself, it was a reassurance that Kion was happy to have. "The fastest is a very important role in the Lion Guard. And I am the fiercest." He said with a prideful stance that displayed cuteness and nobility but not exactly fierceness.
"The Lion Guard patrols the Pridelands and protects the Circle of Life. It is a very respectable institution and has always been there until... Scar happened. But it is back with me!" His voice went into a darker tone speaking of his family, but the cheerful lion continued "It is the group of the best int he Pridelands! The fastest, the strongest, the fiercest... But they are usually all lions."
"But you are faster than any other lion I know, Fuli. You should be on the guard, we need only the best. I am not supposed to invite non-lions, but you should be in it, Fuli."
"The Roar of the Elders is the gift the kings of the past gave me to signify I should be the leader of the guard!" He said with a serious tone "It is the elders roaring with me, creating the most powerful roar in the land! Do you wanna hear it?" Kion sounded rather interested in using the roat for no good reason.

Well, one thing was for sure. This Lion Guard thing sounded pretty cool! First of all, there was the fact that Fuli would be the first cheetah to join it, which would indeed be nice. Second, protecting the Pridelands was certainly important to her. It was her home, after all. Third, she was indeed the fastest, faster than any lion! Anything to rub it in that she was better than them. Well, maybe except Kion. He was actually pretty cool, for a prince. And fourth, this was just a great big adventure waiting to happen! So why not? Of course. She was about to answer yes when Kion brought up the roar. The elders roaring with her? Weren't the elders... dead? Weeeeiird. Lions and their strange magic stuff! But it was a bit specific for him to be making up. "All right, you've got my attention. You wanna roar? Go ahead!" encouraged Fuli.

Kion definitely thought he was pretty cool, yeah. He was a nice dude. But, more important than what Kion thought of himself is what Fuli thinks of him, and how Fuli was feeling about this Lion Guard stuff. The lion could see she seemed... interested at least? No, she looked like she was in already!
But it was Kion's time to show what he was made of. "Alright, Fuli! Get behind me, this is dangerous!"
The lion would not go forward unless she took a position behind the roaring mouth. And when she did, he gave a tiny step forward to better distribute his weight on the ground. He breathed in, out, and then he filled his lungs. Eyes closed, head whipping back and his mouth opened, lion teeth on show for the..!
"Merowl!"
Kion stopped mid... roar if you could call it that. He blinked. Alright "T-That's not what it should sound like, I-I swear!" And he looked at the clouds with a very unpleased face.
But it was the Elders who were displeased with Kion's unnecessary misuse of the gift.

Fuli stood behind Kion, prepared for anything to happen. But then Kion let out what she could only describe as an angry meow.
She stared quietly at Kion for a few seconds, mouth agape. Then, she wheezed, and spontaneously broke out in laughter. The cheetah collapsed onto the grassy ground and started rolling around like someone just made the funniest joke in all of history. Eyes closed, smacking the ground with her paws, tail flying around like crazy. "HAHA! Wow, that's terrifying, Kion! HAAH!" she squealed, rolling onto her back. "You almost had me there!"
She did that for half a minute longer, then stopped and picked herself up before she ran out of breath from laughing. "Either you just made up some crazy supernatural power, or the elders aren't feeling it today!" she exclaimed, not showing a whole lot of sympathy. "I like this Lion Guard thing, but you seriously need to stop making stuff up!"

To say the lion was embarrassed was an overstatement for sure. this was probably worse than just doing an embarrassing performance in front of someone important... Yes, much worse. Because it could look like he was just trying to lie and omit, which was terrible and something the leader of the guard should not do! No!
Kion filled his lungs and stood his posture up. "Trust me, Fuli. The Roar of the Elders is a supernatural gift given to me because I'm the second born to the king. It means I should make the lion guard. And I want you in it" And he let his lungs decompress. "I don't know what happened, but believe me when I say it is important. It is my guard, are you in?"
He stood still, taking her laughter with a serious, noble face "Do you promise to protect the Circle of Life, the royal family and everyone else in the Pridelands?"

Fuli chuckled to herself. Whether this prince was playing pretend or not, it wasn't like royalty to lie. Well, not to most animals. But this Kion seemed pretty friendly towards her, despite her being a cheetah and all.
"All right, I'm in," she confirmed. And as he straightened his posture and began his speech, Fuli really knew he wasn't messing around. And while she wasn't exactly too thrilled about serving the royal family, protecting the Pridelands did sound appealing. And who knew? Maybe if a cheetah was on the Lion Guard, her species could finally get some proper recognition. "I promise to protect my home with my life," she said with a smile. "And the Circle of Life and the royal family too," she added on quickly.
