Vol... Cano?
Was there anything that this damn place didn't have? Normally he'd be in awe, but honestly, that was kind of a terrifying thought. One wrong move and they'd be burned alive, after all! "I mean, that might be a little hard to manage, right? A volcano? Someone could end up dead, let alone hurt." He admitted honestly. Turning to Fuli. "At least right away... Right now, it's probably actually safer to look for Zion... Y'know, while we look for options."
Caught in the Outlands after dark? Well, that would hardly be a good idea. At least he knew there was a reason his dad wanted him, and his siblings home in the den at dark.
"Well, either way, you heard the lady. It's a good idea to get going," He explained honestly. "And I say between hyenas and a volcano? I'm taking my chances with the danger I can fight." He joked.

"Rubia?" The jackal tilted her head not at that, but at the mention of his dad. "Not your mother?" She clearly had never been to Rubia. She was puzzled for a second, but she managed to get Bandit's tail of the argument. She was not commenting about the war threat tho! "I've heard of him" she informed the jackal "You will likely not find much to steal in the gecko cave"
"Good" the jackal answered Fuli "You have to put some sense into them- blocked?" She was taken back "How- In that case, the nearest exit is... The hyena exit, going around the volcano..." she added with a smirk but an exasperated face "Good luck"
"You'd be surprised how crafty those small thing could be" the Jackal warned Tara about the geckos. "I hope you don't have too much trouble with them. The hyenas are much worse"
"Like I just said" she answered Kabili "The hyenas are worse than the lava... Your highness" She had to drag it out of her mouth. Just sounded weird to say that to a human "Just watch your step!"
They had left the Pridelands on a nice late afternoon. The sky was already turning orange as the sun kissed the horizon somewhere behind all that rock. The longer their shadows were, the shortest the time they had left.

The jackal let out a hearty chuckle, "Ma?!" he kicked his forepaw in the air, "Me ma wouldn't be queen if she was the only girl in the pack. "Haha, hoo boy... just the thought of it!" he looked the lady jackal in the eyes, "No offense ma'am, you're queen material, but me ma... she'd hate everything about it! Like she says, if she has to put up such an act, there better be food comin'."
He wiped the tears of laughter from his eyes, while the jackal talked to the rest of the group, "That's settled then, spots. If you don't want to risk cookin' yourself up, you're coming with us." he said to Fuli, then looked to the humans, "The hyenas won't be a problem. We're all pretty special aren't we? You impressed the prince, you is the prince, you impressed Njaa, and I'm me!" Bandit smiled with his tongue hanging out. "Tara, lead the way! After we finish our mission I'm gonna bring stuff from Rabia for everybody!" he said, turning to the female jackal "Including you's guys!" he nodded, then returned his attention to Tara, staring at her expectantly, and glancing to Fuli here and there.

Fuli, after the female jackal finished speaking, stood still a few seconds. She wore a furious expression, and anger burned in her eyes. After about five seconds, her left eye twitched a few times.
The one place she wanted to stay away from. The place she felt was too dangerous to go. The place she had decided to stop the mission to go to because it was too much of a risk. Was the place she now had to go to.
The cheetah's eye twitched once more, and she let out a huge breath of air she'd been unknowingly inhaling for the last ten seconds in the form of an enraged scream. She walked right up to the female jackal's face. "NO!" She shouted. "I'm on this mission to make sure everyone makes it back ALIVE. I am not charging right into the most dangerous place in the Outlands just because some stranger told me so! Tell me how to get us home NOW!" Her posture was aggressive, to say the least. It was clear she wasn't buying anything this jackal told her.

Tara bit her lip as Bili, rightly so, stated that a volcano could be a problem. "Yeah..", she agreed; there wasn't a good option. Of course there wasn't!
Hyenas were about the only option anyway, with the other way blocked. Not that Tara hadn't realized they had only this jackal's word, but, again benefit of the doubt and they were the ones who had asked.
Plus she believed that they only had two bad options.
There was something to be said for Bandit's blind...optimism? Tara smiled a bit, just because his recounting their strengths or what have you helped a bit with the mood.
She was about to get on with that, and all of them continuing on when...part of her saw it coming, but she had hoped they could convince Fuli to come, the cheetah having agreed to it in the first place back in the Pride Lands.
Of course that was before the death began, but still...
"Fuli...", Tara sighed, and was about to try to explain, again. Fuli wasn't wholly without a point, though. Of course they were all going on to Zion, but...
"Any help you have with a short cut back to the Pride Lands would be helpful, but Fuli", she addressed the cheetah, kindly but matter of fact, "If you mean what you say about seeing to it we all get back safe, my mission too, continuing on with us is the way to do it. If you head back now, you do so alone and I really don't think you should do that".
Having said her peace, and aware they could only waste so much daylight trying to convince Fuli of what they ultimately couldn't force her to, Tara turned to Kabili and Bandit, "Alright, to the hyenas it is", she sighed.
It wasn't like they'd, any of the humans, thought Zion would be easy to get to.

Hyenas? Worse than lava?
Maybe he was being cocky, but he definitely didn't feel like that was accurate. But he also was not going to argue with someone who knew the area better than he did. All the same, he was glad when Bandit voiced his same opinion on the matter. Though he could see that there was even more rising tension in the group now. What with Fuli so adamant that they go back, and the others on his side of things...
A part of him really wondered what he should do.
Sure, on one hand he wanted to go to Zion. But on the other hand, Fuli made a good argument as well, as did the female jackal. Leaving him a little lost for words for a good minute or two before he spoke again. "No one's going back alone," Kabili finally spoke up in response to Tara's comment. "Either we all go or none of us go. We're here as a team for a reason."
He then turned to add to Fuli firmly. "Fuli, I know you're here to keep us safe. But if we don't at least try to get to Zion. We're letting my dad, the Pride... The whole damn savannah down," He explained as bluntly but calmly as he could. "Whatever is in there has power. If we don't find it first - we're in the Outlands... Someone else will. If we try to come back with more reinforcements or whatever, it may already be too late."

The female jackal tilted her head and lowered one ear to what Bandit said. "Stuff?" She seemed interested now! "If you have stuff, you can come here anytime. Especially if it's foodstuff" She stated.
But it was fully who really got her attention. As fully screamed and growled, the jackals in the background growled back at her. Some even stepping closer. Their leader assumed an aggressive stance towards the feline "Ya listen here, spots. We- I am only helping your group because you got Dogo home. But I ain't gonna be listening to no cat complain I can't move ravines" Her growl turned into a snarl as she looked FUli in the eye. The other Jackals stepped closer. "Go to the cave or walk back, do whatever ya want. But you should leave. all of you!" And she growled at the rest of them. It appeared that the jackals had a numerical advantage, and they had realized that.
The sky was turning orange. They might really not have long before the night. The Jackal said they would have to cross the Gecko Cave and go near the Volcano, infested with hyenas, to go back to the Pridelands. Fuli didn't want to go. And they might have overstayed their welcome. But this was something for the ground to deal with. And hopefully soon.

Bandit was sure feeling good about himself, his grin actually felt genuine, he was dealing with his own kind and new just how to do it. He truly felt like his title, at least for a moment... then Fuli started yelling. Not even thinking, he growled right there along with this pack! He quickly recovered, backing away some from her and toward the group again, he was at least smart enough to know he couldn't take the jackal's sides, without sinking his dream of allying with the Pridelands. Still, he couldn't turn on the Outlands until then.
"Ma'am!" he exclaimed, "Easy now, we'll get goin'." he assured her first as he thought. "The Lion Guard's always been hot-headed, I'm sure if the real prince was here she would behave herself a lot better." he said, looking at Fuli scornfully, he wasn't trying to say anything about Kabili, but hoped that he could appeal to any that thought negatively of Kabili, and get the heat off just Fuli.
He turned to Fuli. "Spots, I'm a pack leader almost, if she was lying I would pick up on it, and I just met her so how would I be in on anything?" he turned back to the lady jackal, "A pleasure to meet you of course." he bowed his head to her, then looked at the humans. "We're going toward Zion, and we're going to go together even if I have to knock Fuli out." he said sternly, the first time he had been truly serious. "Got it? We go home once we can. I head to Rabia and return with a flock or herd or somethin', and we share a meal. Now do I make myself clear?" he asked, looking at everyone as he said that sentence, ending with his eyes on Fuli.

Fuli looked around at everyone, slowly letting her heart rate decrease. With a few deep breaths, she was mostly calm again. The situation wasn't any better. Everyone seemed to be insisting that the group head to this mysterious lost city, no matter how she tried to dissuade them. And while she might be able to handle this, and they might think they could, it was a huge risk. Simba had been very specific about protecting this group. She didn't need to guess what would happen if the prince and his cohorts went missing on this mission.
Still, they didn't leave her much choice.
With a heavy sigh, Fuli backed away from the female jackal and went back towards the rest of the party. The anger was gone from her face, replaced by an almost somber expression. "Looks like I can't stop you guys then. Well, I don't like where we're going, but wherever you go I gotta follow."
And so Fuli was ready to follow the two humans and jackal to the lost city of something or other. She wasn't totally in agreement with the plan, but would follow it nonetheless.

Whatever Bandit said about his view of who was in charge, Kabili was the new prince, along with his new name, and though she could tell he was still fitting into that role, Tara was pleased to hear him sound it as he added again the whole urgency of why they were going.
Someone else
He didn't say the rest of the Expedition, but that was who they meant. Of those who had piled onto her father's airplane to go on this expedition, she had understood Sam's (as he was called) mother's motivation the best, as an animal expert and just scientifically interested, as it were, in Zion.
For her own part, Tara just wanted to see if it looked like any of the adventure serials she'd seen. A silly and childish thought now as they marched almost like adults to avoid life, or savannah, altering trouble.
Their exit seemed hastened by the jackals growling. Tara made sure her hand hovered over where she kept her sling-shot, just in case, and kept her eye on what jackals she could see now, but didn't make any moves of attack to not spur one.
"Woah...we're working on it...", she said appealingly. She knew what Bandit meant by what he said of the real prince, or thought she did, that Fuli might be more familiar with Kion, but still it seemed out of line to her. "He's as much the prince as Kion".
Maybe Bili wouldn't appreciated her not talking for him, but she couldn't help adding her slight backup, though she wasn't looking for trouble in any way, with him, Fuli or the jackals.
Why couldn't this just be easy?!
Tara gave a chuckle she hoped would alleviate tensions, "We're not doing that, partly because I don't want to carry her", she smiled to Fuli as the cheetah came over, grudgingly agreeing.
"Well we should probably head on", she whispered to the now reassembled group, "Seems we've worn out our welcome". She turned back to the jackals, "Thanks again" she said, and hoped they could now just easily make their way off.

The real prince?
Kabili shot Bandit a slight look - a little offended. But trying not to cause a scene. Since after all, that wasn't exactly the best way to get his backing with his dad if he had really wanted that. "Friendly reminder. My dad puts us on equal ranking," Kabili told him a little bluntly. But not rudely. Knowing he probably didn't mean anything by it.
After all, Kion had called him brother, right? And that definitely meant something.
Either way, the more tense things got in the cave the more thankful he got that Fuli had finally decided to relent. "We can do this guys, trust me. Dad wouldn't have chosen us if he didn't think we could... I think," Honestly. He was sure of it - but didn't want to speak for Simba either. "Thank you, again for your help." He slightly nodded his head trying to keep things calm.
As he moved to exit the cave, he again consulted his mom's journal. Trying to memorize anything that would help them when they found, well, whatever they were looking for. "C'mon mom, we can do this." He muttered.

The jackal lady stayed silent, or she would if the low growl wasn't at the back of her throat. He did not say a word, as if she only got more offended or if they reached the end of her dialogue tree. The other jackals seemed to join her in this silence, but all of the canines had their eyes stuck on the group that had, apparently, finally decided to move and to move towards the lost city.
The group was on a large open space with a couple of rock huts, but the jackal leader had pointed them towards a cave earlier, the gecko cave. Would the ground decide to follow on with that, Kabili would have to take a look at his notebook before they enter, as it was bound to get dark... quite fast.
[Kabili rolls a 14] "I can't wait to finally see this with my own eyes. The great pearl-white palace! The legends say about a whole city made out of pearl white rocks, yet, I'm unaware of marble is available in the region, especially white marble. Could they have been brought from another place? This civilization must be old enough that such a feat would only be archived through servitude or slave labour. I wonder if the architecture is similar to Egyptian or something entirely new! I bet pillars will be everywhere"
Standing at the edge of the cave, the group would see an entrance that was rather large; easily large enough that they could likely stand side by side walking in... But the end of the cave was not to be seen; their vision ended in complete darkness. This was to be a really dark cave.

Bandit made sure to be off with the group, to reinforce his loyalty and to not further anger or delay the now... un-yappy jackal. They sure were different than his pack, he could tell they were different, leaving it a big question if they would be a useful ally or not. He wanted Simba's alliance, and for now it was back to loyalty to this group! Without Njaa around he didn't have anyone else to curry favor of.
As he walked he glanced at each of them, he couldn't take back his words but he was free to speak his mind, perhaps they were meant as something like advice. He could say he was lying, but was he? He wasn't the best liar, his skill was elsewhere in the Jackal Way. "That doesn't mean anyone else does." he said. "Same with Spots." he said, a bit confrontational.
"You dig a hole by not taking responsibility, when ya started off in a hole by being a human and cheetah. Simba and Kion ain't here to hold your paw, so be a prince and guard or you ain't nothin." he said, doing his best to be brutally honest, which for a jackal the latter part was quite difficult!
Soon enough they would be reaching the cave

As the group moved on from the little jackal enclave, Fuli couldn't help but wonder. What if she did fail? What if this volcano just suddenly decided to erupt and they all died? No, no matter what happened, everyone was making it out. Somehow, even if that volcano erupted, they'd make it out. Somehow.
Fuli shot a mean glance at Bandit, whose comment she found a bit insulting. Kion didn't need to hold her paw, and she was already guarding this mission as best as she could.
And then, a cave came up on them. Dark, deep, with a gaping maw that almost looked hungry. But this was the way forward, so unto the breach they must go. Fuli turned to face the rest of the group, a look of determination on her face.
"All right, everyone stay behind me. Keep in sight of each other, hold tails if you need to. And try to hold onto your sense of direction, or finding our way out will be a lot harder. Got it?"

Bili was doing a lot better with sounding like a prince too, not the Tara was judging that. Well, until the last bit when he dropped off, but still, he was getting there. Though, again, like she knew anything on royal matters!
She just nodded along with a smile, glad also that Fuli had agreed to come along. One problem mostly dealt with.
Tara gave another nod to the hyenas as they moved on.
Despite how much she had backed up this idea of going along with exploring Zion, for the reasons both she and Kabili had mentioned, standing at the entrance to the cave, Tara wouldn't deny it was intimidating just with all of the unknown and she took a deep breath in also, hearing Kabili mutter something she didn't catch. She followed in, still towards the front with Bandit's whole she was in charge thing.
Something Fuli completely bypassed, getting in front of her even, but then Tara didn't care and found it amusing even. "And watch for traps, there's always traps in a place like this" she told mostly the animals. They might not expect huge drops in the floor since she didn't figure the savanna did that much normally.
