Far be it from some jerk to trick the new kid.
Kabili couldn't help but feel excited when someone told him about the Elephant Graveyard. Sure, he didn't actually know what it was - but hey if elephants were once there, it couldn't be anything too bad right? Of course, it was... Dangerously close to the Outlands. But said troublemaker had "assured" him it was nowhere near there - and why didn't he have a reason to trust them? So far no one had steered him wrong, and besides, it was so damn cool!
The teen had always been the adventurous type. So going into what seemed like a little danger? Just got his adrenaline going a little as he entered the dark, mysterious area. Quickly finding the elephant skeletons that gave it its name, though it was the green slime pits that kind of creeped him out more. Not that it mattered... "This place is awesome," Kabili announced. Assuming due to the quiet by now that he was alone in the Graveyard. "I wonder what kind of animals live here?"
He decided to zig zag through one elephant's ribcage with a chuckle. He wondered what kind of mischief he could get himself into here? He hadn't gotten into too much yet after all.

Zuri certainly wasn't the adventurous type, so what brought her to a place like this? Lack of adequate adult supervision, for one thing. Who would want to watch her and deal with her attitude more than they had to?
She smirked as she went to the graveyard, she had also been told, though maybe not the same source, that it only used to have hyenas, and now it was a place for some peace and quiet, so she believed. "A bit of sprucing up and maybe this graveyard could be a place to relax." she almost didn't care about the purpose. "Graves don't have to be so... dead. A few flowers could do well." she said to herself, but picked up on a noise. "Ugh, really? Can't a girl just be alone when her friends are busy?"

Kabili was not amused when he heard Zuri’s voice.
Of course she was there, why wouldn’t she want to show up on his adventure? It was almost like she had to be everywhere. Whether he tried to avoid her in the den, on Pride Rock, or here she was going to show up. That was about right he felt like he could never avoid nuisances.
But he could hear Nala and Simba’s words, hell even Zazu’s about how he had to try to get along with people. So he tried to force a smile, not too forced to seem too fake but enough so to say he wasn’t expecting here either. “Oh... Good morning, Zuri,” he attempted. “What are you doing here?”

Zuri looked around to confirm it was the two of them, before... not[/b] bowing. She was all for presentation, but there was no one here to present to. Just a boy.
"Hello, good morning..." she said, her own face smiling her sour half-smile. "Kiara is doing a... ugh thing and I wanted some alone time. I figured no one would come to this dump.... I mean really. I'd want to be buried in the grass or even a flower field! What about you? ...I mean what are you doing here? You cant be buried here anyway, you're a "lion"." She said, clearing her ambiguous question, not seeming to want to be that friendly.

Kabili didn’t really care if she bowed or not. Honestly, she did it when it mattered and in front of the adults. So when it was just the two of them he wasn’t about to like, correct her or anything. If anything that was an argument he hardly wanted to start. “Oh yeah, I think Kiara mentioned going out with dad this morning,” he said thoughtfully as he tapped his chin. “I don’t remember what. But she’s always having more “Queen lessons” and all so there’s that.”
Oh? Why was he here? Ew he hardly wanted to be buried here! He hardly understood why elephants wanted to be anyway! “Oh! A couple of the others by the watering hole were talking about this place. I thought it sounded pretty cool,” he explained rather pointedly. “I don’t see why mom and dad never said anything about this place. I mean this looks like the kind of place worth exploring - who knows what kind of stuff is around here.”

The lioness cub rolled her eyes, "I am gonna be her advisor, but... rules are rules. She will tell me all about it anyway." she grinned smugly.
"Uh, Yeah it's like spooky and stuff! she said with displeasure. "Explorung a creepy old place. Boys... Let me guess, you want me to join in?" she sighed, "Fine. I will, better... ugh, bonding with you than getting berated for sunbathing..."

Her adviser? Ha! What the hell could she advise?
Kabili however decided to stifle his laughter and keep it to himself however. After all, if he insulted her he’d no doubt hear about it. Especially from Kiara since she was her best friend and all. Still, he did find it funny that she seemed so creeped out by the place.
“Honestly, kinda impressed you came at all. I know that your friend Tifu is scared of her own shadow,” it wasn’t an insult and he didn’t make it sound like one. More of just an observation. “You’re definitely welcome to join in though. I used to explore weird places all the time back in New York.”
He watched a gas bubble nearby burst before adding. “... Maybe not this creepy though.”

Zuri scoffed "Tell me about it. She's cute though." she smiled, as they said, if you can't say nothing nice, say nothing. Tiifu was... well, she had her positives. "I have my own reasons for coming, and like I said... better than the alternative. So, uh..." Kabili must have had a similar talk to her, being nice like this.
She raised a brow, "Lead the way. Just..." she pivoted away from the bubble, "I'd rather not go back looking like I went to a graveyard? Defeats the point of secrecy." plus it mussed your fur! "I'm not scared, just disgusted." she rolled her eyes.

Her own reasons? He guessed that he could imagine that she didn’t want to share them though it kinda amused him. “It’s ok, I mean back in New York I had a friend that was the same way,” he admitted with a smirk. “He thought we were crazy to go flying to Africa like this. Probably would think I was even crazier living with lions.”
Not scared? Coulda fulled Kabili but he knew that Kiara had mentioned before that she was a bit dainty, “I mean I probably shouldn’t go back too dirty either. Else mom and dad might freak,” he admitted. Plus he was getting the feeling neither of them would like the idea that he was out here. As he started to indeed lead the way. “It’s ok though. I mean, dad said to start exploring more. Make some more friends. Technically I’m not breaking any rules - even if I am. By doing both.”

Zuri scoffed "I can help you clean up, don't worry." she said, but was she above putting him in trouble? "I don't stay immaculate without knowing how to clean up, now do I?" She giggled. "I think the whole thing is crazy, but well. I mind my own business." she claimed.
As she followed, she laughed. "Friend? That's a stretch, Kabili. We can get along... but friends? Even if you were a lion, we have like nothing in common!" she said, blind to the things they did have in common, naturally. "Show me how a boy adventures."

Huh that was a good point he guessed one that he had never thought about. But honesty that was ok too. Though he did have to grimace a little at her saying the whole thing was weird. “I mean, I think it’s more unusual than weird. I see adoptive families around here all the time,” Kabili responded with honesty. Not downplaying her opinion but still. “It seems like it’s pretty common. It’s only different for me because you guys didn’t know what a human was.”
Hmph, fine then, it’s not like he wanted to make friends with someone like her anyway - he guessed he was just being nice. “Oh? How a boy adventures? But you see when you’re a boy you get dirty on adventures,” he said with a mischievous grin. Raising both eyebrows teasingly. “Y’know like on that muddy hill?” He said as he pointed it out. It even had some sort of carcass he could ride down on.

The lioness looked where Kabili pointed and wrinkled her nose, "Ugh, what did I just say? Mud is the furthest thing in my mind from fun." she claimed. "Just cause I can clean up afterwards doesn't mean I want to." she said, but... even when she said to his face she wasn't interested in being his friend, he still wanted to play?
She was definitely used to people paying her 'kindness' back the same. She looked him in the eyes, "I'm not going to like it." she said, firmly, but in a way that implied she was going to do it, she hrmed, walking over toward the hill, trying to find the least muddy path, acting like a pansy... to cover for it her rude mouth opened.
"Go on. Show me what's so great about mud."

Kabili giggled. It was honestly funny to see how bent out of shape she got about it.
But at the same time, he definitely wasn't going to force her to do anything. Even though she ended up giving in herself, man that didn't take much did it? "Don't worry, we're not going to actually go in the mud. Trust me, I did something like this back in New York, once," He explained. Of course that had involved snow and a manhole cover, but it was... Kind of the same right? "I mean it's not the same thing as sledding, but it's close enough!"
When they made it to the top of the hill, he examined the large skull he had seen earlier. Licking his lips and rubbing his hands together. "Perfect! Here goes!" He gently pushed Zuri and the skull in one swift motion before hopping on. Hoping that she'd land on it so that they'd go down with enough speed. But who knew?

It was becoming clear that something, or more likely someone was behind Zuri opening up to Kabili. She definitely was giving the attitude of someone that was making the most of a situation they didn't like.
She followed him up, and in response to the assurance they wouldn't be going into the mud, said "Ugh, good." with a roll of her eyes. "ONCE!?" that did quite the opposite of assure her. With the lack of snow she didn't know what sledding would be.
She looked at the skull, visibly creeped out. She was so creeped out she didn't realize until he jumped on that she herself has been pushed on. "W-w-what WAIT what are you do-i-i-ng?!" she turned to a shriek as their momentum sent them sliding down! Mud spreading in their wake, splattering around them. She crouched into the skull, it... was strange? She hated the mud more than the bones.
"AAAH!" she yelled, up until they slid to a stop at the bottom of the hill... crouching down further, her hear beating visibly in her chest, her face white. Zuri was terrified, but not crying or anything, she wasn't Tiifu. She would recover within a few minutes of course.

Kabili smirked.
Once was enough that much he was positive of. It wasn’t like this was rocket science, or third grade science right? It was just simple physics and... Whoa! That was fast, he didn’t expect how fast he was moving this thing after all. But honestly, he was living for the thrill.
“Isn’t this great!?” He shouted as the wind whizzed past his ears. “I told you, you were gonna love it!”
By the time they’d hit the bottom it was pretty obvious that Zuri was freaked out. Really? From that little movement? Maybe she was more like Tifu than he thought. “Hey, are you OK?” He asked. “I didn’t think it would be *that* fast.”
