Simba smiled as Kabili relaxed, "Of course, son. If you feel like that again, I would... well, I would not be happy but... you know what I mean. Come to me if you need me." he nodded. "Yes, trust in others, trust in us!" he encouraged.
"Well, if you have only seen half of it, you have a lot ahead of you..." he hrmed, "If you need help with that, again... I, we, are happy to help you learn and grow." he brought his nose into Kabili's chest for a firm nuzzle. "We had quite the assortment of lessons, but still... Is there anything more you want to learn? How are you and Zazu getting along? Has he tried teaching you elephantese?" he tried to direct away from the topic of sadness, and toward that of self-improvement.

Kabili smiled.
Honestly, he believed it. Simba had handled that with such grace that he often wondered how he had the patience he did. Or the heart he did. But he guessed that was ultimately what made him look up to him so much. “I promise I will,” he answered him. “I like talking to you anyway. You always seem to know what to say - mom too.”
Kabili nodded his head though he kind of giggled when he nuzzled his chest. A known ticklish spot to him but still. “Oh I’ll never stop wanting to learn. So yo won’t have to worry about that,” he explained proudly. Though he had to think about what more he wanted to learn there was so much. “Man, Zazu’s cool and all but those linguistics are hard! He’s still got me on zebra right now. And I feel like I’m talking gibberish half the time.” He joked.
After a moment - he’d thought of what he would like to earn. “I feel like I need to learn more etiquette though. Zazu says a lot of that comes with experience though,” he explained. “Sometimes I feel you guys carry yourselves so proudly and I just am like trying to figure out how you do it.”
He was sure Simba might have felt like it before too. Being he’d spend so long with Timon and Pumbaa.

The king nodded, "Well, I do have experience behind me, and good friends and family that teach me a lot." he said crediting them. "Nala is much better at it, since... well. She had her mother to guide her as a teenager." he said with a hint of sorrow. "Zebra? I thought it was all gibberish, but I bet Thurston sounds a lot smarter in his native language." at least he hoped so.
"Etiquette? Are you sure you are my son?" he laughed, "That was what I hated the most to learn, I don't think Nala was fond of it either... but I suppose that sort of thing is more interesting from the outside... It must feel strange having Zazu bow to you." he nodded.

Kabili listened to what the lion had to say. Honestly it was... Sad hearing the sadness in his voice when he mentioned he had her mother to guide her as a teenager. He himself gave a sad, though reassuring smile before commenting. “Right... Having people around you when things are tough is important. Least I think so. I guess that’s a lot of why you wanted me to stay with you guys huh?” He asked honestly. “I mean I kind of always wondered. But the more you tell me the more I think I get it... I reminded you of... Well, you.”
Kabili snorted. He wasn’t sure if Thurston was exactly smarter in his native language. The guy seemed to be a bit of a knucklehead regardless of how he talked. “I mean define “smarter”. He isn’t as weird maybe but I still think he’s got some screws loose!”
Again, he giggled a little. He didn’t know how much trouble either of them would have, they carried themselves so well. But he guessed the more he heard about their... Well zany childhoods the more he probably saw it. “It’s all super weird. I can’t go anywhere or talk to anyone without hearing “your highness” or something,” he joked. Though his friends didn’t do it, thank god for that at this point. “I’m getting used to it at least, but man if you could see the place I grew up in. Compared to now. Biggest culture shock of all time.”
He then added. “I think the closest I came to that level of respect was being the captain of my baseball team last summer,” he then realized Simba would not know what that is. “That is. A sport we humans play.”

The king nodded, "Of course, you are a lot like me, but that is all a coincidence, really." he said, even if they had things in common, it wasn't because of them, neccessarily, that he adopted Kabili.
Simba chuckled, "True, but he seems to struggle to talk to... anyone, normally." he said, "Zazu seems to get a lot more out of him, but I can never tell why." he hrmmed.
Simba nodded, "Well, I loved some of it, making a spectacle of myself, but not behaving. I still don't care to be so formal. It's... well, one way I'm just not like my dad." he stated, "I don't understand not wanting to be in the spotlight... really. Kiara is the same way." he said, "You've not said much... positive about it." he reminded Kabili.
"Well, have you tried playing sports here? You kids always have energy after all." he chuckled, "A team would be great." he mused.

Kabili nodded a little. It was honestly true that their similarities were a big coincidence. At least he hoped so and that wasn’t someone interfering at least. With a small smirk he nudged the lion. “Don’t worry I know it’s more than just that;” he said with a small smile. “I never told you but I felt... Something the first time we met. Mom, Kiara, Kion... I felt it about all of you especially when I started being in the den more. Like it was just - natural. I don’t know. Like I belonged there. It’s like I told you, I felt that way as soon as I set foot in the Pridelands.”
Huh he could only wonder why. Of course it was a sarcastic thought but still. “I feel like Zazu can talk to anyone,” he admitted jokingly. “He downplays it but the guy is fun to talk to. At least in my opinion.”
Kabili noted what he had to say about enjoying some of it. And while it surprised him, he had to say he liked it too. “Don’t get me wrong I actually do like it. I like going to sleep on a full belly. And being able to explore every inch of this place and being welcome,” Kabili explained. “And don’t get me started on how much I like being in a lion Pride. It’s like having a huge family.”
He then admitted. “It just took some time for me to see it. But believe me, I am now,” he explained. “It’s just the bowing and stuff I have to get used to.” He shrugged.
Ohhhh a team out here? Now that would be cool. “I hadn’t thought about that. But before my ceremony Bunga and I were talking about playing,” he said excitedly. “Maybe I’ll run it by him!”

Simba nodded, "Good, I just... wanted you to know that. I took you in for deeper reasons than that, and... I love you as my son, now."[/b] he put his paw on Kabili, "I... don't have that impression of him at all, but maybe it's just... you know, that I'm the king... and well he still sees me as that arrogant cub I was." he bemoaned, "But he thinks differently of you.".
he nodded, "Yes, I finally got used to it, but... it doesn't feel right, and well... my advice wouldn't help you much. I just pretend to be my dad." he chuckled, "But I know that being a king is more than just, being my dad. I know he'd want me to do things my own way... not the way I wanted as a cub but still..."[/b[ he sighed.
"Excellent, Bunga needs something to do to not get into trouble..." he chuckled. "If only he could have joined the Lion Guard... but he's neither a lion nor uh... well... responsible." he joked, anyone else he wouldn't be so mean about, but this was Bunga.

Kabili definitely felt good knowing that. Though he’d probably go through his whole life wondering exactly what his reasons were. Was it his bravery? His big heart and desire to help animals? Or was it that and more? He could ask Simba but in the end it would sound like he was questioning him where it didn’t matter. He’d done it and he was love.
“I’m just glad you did. I can’t really imagine where I’d be right now without you guys. Y’know?” He added. He then decided to add with a little bit of a smirk. “But no reason to think about those work houses or orphanages back home, right? Hakuna Matata.” Mentioning the philosophy both Bunga and Timon had been teaching him.
He snorted at the mention of Zazu. “You? Arrogant? No way. The one that sang out that “hornbills” bit? You’re totally chill.” He teased genuinely. “”Kings just don’t need advice from little hornbills for a start.”.” He tried gently mocking him from the other day.
Huh, act like Mufasa? Well that didn’t help, but he did guess that he could carry himself a little more like Simba. Even if that seemed like a tall order. “I mean it kinda does. I could probably watch you and Kion a little more,” he shrugged in response. “But I think I’m a bit like you. I wanna add my own swagger to it. Make my way of being Royal my own. Once I figure out what it is.”
Oh god, responsibility was very low on Bunga’s list, that they could agree on. “Yeah, I don’t think Bunga or I would be at all right for the guard,” he explained honestly. Shaking his head. “I’ve seen how hard Kion patrols and stuff, plus all that rule enforcing. I’m kind of glad that’s his thing and not mine.” He admitted jokingly.

Simba nodded, "Yes, it is in the past." he said simply, "Yes Hakuna Matata-" the king cut himself off. "...Er. Please tell me you didn't learn that from Timon." he said, cryptically. He wasn't scared of Timon but he knew he'd get an ear-full from the meerkat if he realized he neglected to teach him that philosophy.
"Oh trust me, I thought I was on top of the world, and already king, when I was much younger than Kion is now." he chuckled, "Yes... that. Perhaps I should sing you the whole song and you'll see what I mean." he chuckled, "Not without Nala and Zazu of course. It just wouldn't be the same." he sighed as he remembered. "I wasn't at all like Kiara, but Nala thinks I am." he said, he sounded confused.
"Indeed, you are not king so there is a different way there, too... and the role you take will define how you present yourself. I am sure Kion is the closest you can try to follow, and I do want you to set good examples for each other." he said. "Yes... he is patrolling hard without his teammates. I trust him to do well."

Kabili smirked a little. He could detect a hint of nervousness. Really, the king was nervous? Ha that was a funny one. “Nah, I learned it from Bunga. But Timon taught me some too,” he said very matter-of-factly, “it’s been helpful, and don’t worry I don’t think he was *that* mad.” He teased
Kabili definitely would pay money to see that - good money. Even though he unfortunately couldn’t record that with a video camera as he would like to! “Oh you should put that on for all three of us. I think we’d all get a kick out of it,” he explained as he of course meant Kiara and Kion as well. “I bet she means it in a good way. Kiara is pretty confident and all - a good confident. I think, anyway.”
He then admitted. “I like when you sing to us though too. Reminds me of when mom used to it,” he admitted. Though he could never have the courage to sing like half the people here did. Which he did not. “You guys are so confident about that. I think I’m gone deaf.” He joked.
How he presents himself? He guessed that was a good point too, after all. In a way he had to carry himself with the confidence of Zazu but also the noble was of a prince. “I mean I’ve started to introduce myself as Kabili, son of Simba. Which I took a page from his book with,” he admitted. “Except adding prince when I met Yun Mibu. But I figured it was best to establish that when I meet foreigners and all.”
He then added. “I think the harder part is walking proud and all. Zazu says I have to puff out my chest and stand straighter,” he giggled. “But I’m like I look like a damn baboon man.”

The king's nerves calmed, then shot right up. "Oh you haven't seen him mad, neither have I. I'm sure to get an ear full for not teaching that..." he wasn't scared, not at all. Dread, certainly. This would certainly put them even with the Zira situation.
Simba smiled, "Of course! They are welcome to watch." he nodded. "Nala always means well."
He harmed, "I... had hoped you would have gotten the hang of that on your own. We can always have lessons and practice!", and by his expression that was not a joke... "I'd love to watch you practice, to watch you sing! For me, your mother and siblings!" he grinned. Was this punishment for getting him in trouble with Timon? Maybe. "You cant learn and get used to it without going for it."
"You have done excellent with etiquette, in my opinion, but keep listening to Zazu. You can always trust him, even if it does feel strange."

Kabili chuckled a little. He was sure Simba might get an earful but still what could he say? The damage was done and all. “Don’t worry dad, I’m sure he’ll go easy on you,” he told him teasingly. “I mean you’re too old for him to ground you right?” He said with a poke at his side.
Kabili’s chuckle became more nervous at the thought of singing for everybody. Oh god, what if he made an idiot out of himself? Of course if he were honest he liked to sing but in front of a lot of people? What if they laughed at him! “I mean I like to sing in private don’t get me wrong, got that from my mom.” He told him. After all she had always been singing - lots of lullaby’s and stuff. “I just... In front of people? What if I embarrass you?”
Well that was a relief to know that at least to one of the royals he was handling himself well. Honestly, sometimes he only had to wonder on that one. “Yeah, I feel like I bug birdbrain a lot but he’s pretty good with that stuff,” he explained. “He woulda hated me when I was like eight though. I feel like I’d have run him ragged.”

Simba nodded, "Well of course, also I'm ya know, royalty." he chuckled, "Nothing like that, but I really don't like disappointing people, especially my dads." he chuckled, turning to a sigh. "But I have the courage to face him all the same, otherwise how could I expect you to come to me after you make a mistake?" he asked, he had to hold himself to a higher standard than his son. "It doesn't mean I am happy about it."
The king smiled, "Embarrass me? You're my son. We are supposed to embarrass each other."[/b] he nuzzled Kabili with solid force. "Which is why I insist you work on public performance, even if it feels scary or you fear embarrassing yourself or me. As a prince, publicity is a major part of your life... remember. Very little will not come into the public light." he said with a nod.
He chuckled at the mention of Zazu. "Zazu runs himself ragged, by being so uptight and serious... even for his position. His job isn't that hard, nor is watching kids... well, for the most part. Kids like... me, father just underestimated by mischievousness." he didn't like blaming his father, but he wasn't... really. There was nature and there was nurture. "Knocking him down a peg keeps things interesting for him, and he knows we do it out of love." the word felt odd, but it was how Simba put it.

After he made a mistake? Oh so he was learning his mischievous side. He probably had to expect that the longer he was there. “I mean the longer I’m here the more I’ll probably have to do that,” he joked lightly. “I kind of have a mischievous streak... According to my mom.”
Publicity? Kabili had to think of that when the king spoke of that. He’d never thought of being the talk of the watering hole or anything. But he was sure there was a good chance people talked about him as much as Kion and Kiara these days. “Man, I hadn’t thought of it like that,” he said as he rubbed the back of his neck. “I mean, I guess I can give it a try at least. I’m starting to learn signings a big part around here anyway. And I’m sure I’m at least better than someone here.”
He chuckled at the thought of what he had to say about Zazu and his job though. He supposed that was true - but he was sure that he, Kion, and Kiara were a handful sometimes. “I mean, he now has three kids to keep track of and I’m sure that’s hard. But yeah, he is fun to spook,” he told him. “I actually managed to get the jump on him the other day. Using the skills mom taught me hunting. It felt good.”

The king nodded, "I'm sure you sing better than the egrets, at least... maybe they could use lessons too, come to think of it." he hrmed, "I was mischievous myself, just... know when you might go too far, or worse get into real danger." He sighed, "As long as you confess to it, or... if you don't as long as nobody is hurt." he said, with seriousness.
He smiled, "In a way it's the only entertainment he gets, so don't be afraid to keep things interesting as long as like I said..." he didn't repeat himself, "I'm proud that you are working on your pouncing with him." he chuckled at the fond memory, "If you really want to make it up to him though, you can put on a performance for him." he suggested. "When it comes to Zazu, anything is fair game. He knows what he is in for and more full of himself than me!" he laughed.
