Tara grimaced as she listened to Kabili basically putting the blame on himself. She didn't understand about PTSD either, or even Shell Shocked as they called the soldiers, and didn't realize kids like them would still have it too, but could understand a Bad Experience. "No, trying things isn't stupid", she said, for once not rambling, "but...you don't have to if you don't want to for a while".
Much as she advocated Getting Back on the Horse to herself she wasn't one of those to prescribe it to others and in fact it was in line with the toxic view most young boys were fed back home.
Even her own view that she herself had to be a certain level of tenacious, like Amelia Earhart, to be noticed enough to make pilot, like her, was due to it not being expected of girls.
She wasn't going to say watching her friend and a lion nuzzle wasn't still odd, but it was also comforting and she smiled before frowning a small bit as she thought of her own mother before pushing that away.
Her smile returned as Kabili asked how she'd made it. She was rather proud of her achievements. She wasn't really a mechanic or inventor, but had learned the small bits of both needed to understand aviation and achieve towards pilot. "I got some old parachute cloth and miscellaneous straps from one of the empty plane...bits", she didn't want to dwell on it or bring it back for him either, and emphasized empty even if she didn't realize it. "I figured I'd go ahead and solve the problem of flight while here for something to do" she shrugged, and didn't explicitly say it also gave her one other option to utilize and weigh in figuring her plan out.

Of the three of them, Nala had perhaps seen the most of someone dealing with past trauma in how Simba still struggled with all that had happened to him. She was glad to hear that Kabili wasn't hurt as she nuzzled him back, but frowned at his words of self blame. She let Tara begin the reassuring, but then nodded as well as reassured to having been scared for him. "Well part of it is unavoidable in being your mother", she smiled, "But also don't feel bad, even your father still struggles with things at times".
She couldn't say she really understood Tara's explanation of how she had achieved flight, as she did even for that small bit, but smiled back kindly. "Well it's very impressive", she made sure to praise before going on to sound like a stuffy mother, "but I hope you won't think me old if I say I think that's enough for today, at least on Kabili's end", she smiled in part amusement at herself but also meant her concern.

Kabili supposed that was true. If his biological mom had been there she'd be even less calm.
Wait, Simba struggled at times? Simba? The guy seemed to have it all put together in a way that made it so hard for Kabili to believe that he of all people struggled. "I mean if it makes you feel better, you handled it way better than my bio mom would have," He teased. Deciding to downplay his surprise - and his fear. After all, he hated looking like that. "She'd be scolding me so bad for that one."
He did however give his attention to Tara when she explained how she made the glider. Honestly, he was with Nala. It was honestly impressive that someone his age could manage that. "Man, I wish I had that kind of skill," He admitted. "That's super awesome that you did it though. Imagine if they could get the planes up and moving like that. We'd solve so many problems."
Of course it was enough on his end, but he did feel bad for it being enough for that day with Tara. "Aw, mom. Don't let me ruin Tara's fun. She worked hard."

Here it was...she'd made herself a nuisance, almost killed the prince, now they would tell her they thought it best she didn't hang around him too often...
Of course Tara was overreacting, shown by the queen's actual response, but she couldn't help thinking this was the response she should expect. But of course none of that happened, maybe because Bili was still mostly alright. The queen even said her work was impressive! Tara gave a small smile.
Her own father would have also had words on what she was doing no doubt, his scolding coming more from practical and what was actually dangerous about her just charging ahead with a half-made glider.
"Thanks", she answered to both of their praise. Of course a glider couldn't hold too much more weight than one person, and that was the main reason they had made planes, or to simplify it, but the idea of What If still held. Tara nodded. "Yeah, though, I like planes too".
Even after the crash, this was still true, she realized, but of course given how soon it was she didn't say such.
Queen Nala had stated for just his sake maybe that was enough, but Kabili still made sure it didn't extend to her. She smiled gratefully, but glanced back over to the queen and would take her cue on if she thought it would be too much if she continued and Bili didn't.

Nala gave a soft chuckle as Kabili said she had at least handled it better than his birth mother would have. "I guess I'm used to the kinds of things Kiara and Kion get up to", she admitted. She didn't want to imply it sounded like human children didn't get into quite so deep of trouble, but even this new glider was really nothing new, in terms of mischief.
She had phrased her statement to try to not included the girl in her restriction, and saw Tara glance to her resigned to follow whatever she said on if allowing her to continue would still just bother Kabili. If he said so she was more comfortable with the fact that it wouldn't bother him, "Alright", she conceded.

Kabili snorted.
Then again, she also hadn’t seen the kind of mischief he could get into yet. But he sometimes still felt he was on fragile ground and had dialed it back a little for now. Still he couldn’t help but joke. “Oh trust me I think with Bunga. You’ll find I can get into plenty of that.” He warned. Though he gave a wink at the same time. “Especially in a jungle. All kinds of stuff I can do out here.”
He breathed a sigh of relief that he obviously hadn’t gotten Tara into any trouble. That was the last thing he wanted after all! “So how high do you plan to try to get it anyway?” He asked. “Luke have you got a general mileage on it?”

Tara realized that a plane ride didn't give her the opportunity to witness exactly the kind of trouble Bili could get into either, and in a jungle no less, as he said! She was intrigued to be sure, even already wondering if he knew some fun (not dangerous or stupid) stuff to do, but rather than focus on the perhaps still worrisome aspects in front of Queen Nala, she brought up another question.
"Do I want to ask who Bunga is?", she still asked with a small smile as she glanced between them. The way it had been said, she didn't feel like it was suppose to be further reassuring to Nala.
The queen didn't forbid her though!
Tara grinned, "Yeah and I really want to at least half figure this out before the day's out", getting the glider back from Bili, she checked that the sails weren't damaged and prepared to go again.
She glanced back up to the sky, as if assessing, before glancing back to him as he asked about how high up she could go. "Well, it's dependent on the breeze...and breathing altitude, right now". More-so the last.
She laughed, but kindly at his question on mileage, "I'm not entirely sure, I would have to see if I could attach a speedometer". And that might complicate the whole works. She didn't say this last, because she didn't want to shoot down his idea, but really she could maybe get a small one to have with her.
"Alright, let's see how this goes", once she had the glider attached again, she took off for another test run, shooting up into the air again.

Nala realized that Kabili was no doubt speaking the truth, and he would soon be finding adventure. A good thing, and for his acclimating, but also her maternal sense worried. Not as much as Simba (though he worried over Kiara far more than he did Kion but in that unbalanced gender way). Still, she smiled and tried to not worry too much. Tara's question helped her from having to answer Kabili about his exploring directly.
"Kion's best friend and Timon and Pumbaa's ward of the moment". She realized the girl might not know them either. She chuckled kindly "I suppose we'll have to introduce you all around the Pride Lands".
She listened, still just fascinated by the whole thing, as Kabili and Tara discussed the wind direction and marking speed even before Tara tried out flying again. Nala watched her, but then glanced back over to her son. "Are you sure you're alright", she meant more emotionally than physically, so added, "With watching". She didn't know his particular trauma (though she would work at trying to understand it) but she did know trauma in general.

Kabili chuckled at the mention of their extended family.
He had a feeling Tara would probably think they were a riot. Mostly because he did already, and they were pretty much the crazy ones of the family. But he put his hands on his hips anyway. “They’re awesome. Even if having a little kid for an uncle is a little strange,” he admitted honestly. “Not that I haven’t seen it before. I knew a guy whose uncle was the same age as him back home.”
Huh, he supposed her answers about the glider made sense. Though Kabili did wonder if they could do something similar with the planes. As the humans did still need a feesable way out of here. It was honestly one of those things that made him wonder - but he would keep those thoughts to himself for now.
As he watched Tara take off - his eyes turned to Nala as her comment pierced his thoughts. “Oh! Yeah. I think I’m ok watching. It was more the sensation that got to me,” Kabili replied honestly. “I guess it kind of reminded me of getting thrown out of the plane. Those are way bigger and higher up - but it was still a free fall.”

Tara glanced between them as they...tried to explain Timon and Pumbaa it sounded like. She did get the feeling she would probably just have to meet them to fully understand them. "They sound fun, can't wait to meet them...I think". She chuckled to Bili's fact about a little kid uncle, "Yeah I've heard of it happening too. Still, an uncle you might have to babysit", she laughed, "That does sound odd!".
She didn't really see where he was going, and that it could be an answer to their getting out of here (or those of the group going). It would be hard to make a glider act like a plane or even carry that much weight though.
She tried again, catching a small current that set her down again before trying again. "One more time...", she muttered to herself. This one picking up more and Tara adjusting and tilting far as she could to try to stay up as long as she could.

Nala chuckled at both Kabili and Tara's points on Timon and Pumbaa. "Their mostly harmless", she assured, "Though Timon might say something...un-thought out and Pumbaa...", How to explain sweet Pumbaa who cause a wide berth at times? "Well you'll see".
As they watched and she checked on Kabili, she nodded, feeling she understood on his point on the plane. "I think I understand. Though we later learned Scar's part of it all...for the longest time, Simba's mother Sarabi couldn't hunt near the gorge where Mufasa died and while you would think she would want to take down wild-beast specifically for their part in his death, used as tools or no, she actually avoided them for a bit as well".
"As for me...", she thought. Her traumas had been a bit more hidden. "Most of the usual places where Simba and I played had an odd feeling after that". Not really the same.

Kabili watched Tara carefully.
Honestly he wished he had the ability to do it. But he still had to think about a way to get the humans out. While they couldn’t exactly make a glider, if the right parts were there and the engine hadn’t been damaged beyond repair, he had to wonder if they could use some supplies to rebuild their planes.
His thoughts turned to Nala as she spoke up about how Sarabi had responded to Mufasa’s death. A small frown formed on his face. He couldn’t imagine what it was like to have that happen. Losing your husband, and your son all at once. “I can’t even imagine what she went through if this is even half of it,” Kabili admitted. “Mom said losing a child or a spouse is the worst feeling in the world...”
Of course he’d never questioned how she’d known what losing a spouse was like. But an adult may have. “But... You guys were able to get past it eventually? Or I mean... It got better?”

The Pride Lands were quite astounding, from what she could see of them from the altitude able to be reached. Not as high as either their plane or a plane, but still high enough to get a lay out of the mostly Savannah.
Of course she didn't see one Meerkat or Warthog in all of that, and that was to be expected; or not expected as the case was. The Meerkat for sure would be too small.
Tara didn't become distracted even in these thoughts, but did notice her trajectory as she went along and how she was aimed for a really big tree. Here was her chance to test out Steering and see what she was able to do and not. She turned as much as she could, to avoid, but was still at the mercy of wind direction and had to turn it to a graceful decent at this point at least. "Ok so I can manage to not hit trees, good to know...I don't think there's anything I can do about being at the mercy of wind direction", she stated as she walked back over. "It's not of any actual practical use", she got close to what Bili had been thinking, in terms of the others and how they would leave, though without realizing it.

Nala nodded that she had also heard that, from Sarabi herself, though not in so many bold words. "I've heard the same, but also can't imagine, even if I'm a bit closer to at least understanding having both", she gave Kabili a smile that included him in that of course, before pondering his last question, and knowing it wasn't just a hypothetical answer. He was asking in terms of the loss he had suffered as well. She would have answered honestly either-way and still did. "It...the grief just...changed feeling", was a good way to try to explain it. "Got less sharp perhaps". She wondered if Tara was about to have trouble and hit the tree, but she pulled out and came jogging over. "Practical use?", she asked. She hadn't caught on to what both of the kids had thought separately and about using it to help the other humans. ~End
