Makucha scoffed, "I'll remember this, Kion." The leader of the guard picked a stance and kept it, this was useful information if not as much as he had hoped. He didn't back down right away, "You don't scare me. Neither does your dad. " he looked over at the rock as Liki spoke, clearly trying to get him scared. "Perfect" he thought, but kept from showing that he was pleased by the attempt.
"Grr..." he backed away, "Be afraid, you piglet! Leopards could be lurking anywhere." as he continued he spoke "Kion can't protect everyone by himself!" he chuckled, "You can't keep everyone out Kion!" he grinned, "Next time I'll wait until you are too busy to save his hide!" He would continue backing away up until he would be out of sight, depending on Kion's response.

Kion's ears lifted up, then aimed back, then to the sides... No. He couldn't hear anything. Was Liki sure about that? Kion didn't see it as a... half-truth from the pig to get the leopard to back off. It was only one leopard. Kion had everything under control there. This piglet was not being dinner while Kion was around. And the Leader of the Lion Guard was very much around.
"I smell none of them," Said Kion right after the leopard, trying to calm the pig down "And don't be scared! He is just a leopard, who is not allowed to hurt you! And he knows it."
"What is your name?" Kion gave another step as the leopard seemed to be retreating. He tried to call the other's attention. He was having none of that. "You will apologize to Liki before leaving back to your territory. You are being mean for no reason! And that's wrong."

No one believed his saying he'd heard his Sounder, and not Liki wasn't sure either. Had he just been wishful thinking? Either-way Kion was doing well at getting the leopard to back up. Liki could see this every-time he chanced a peek around the rock. He darted back quicker at the leopard's threat that he would get him when Kion wasn't around.
He didn't really care if he got an apology so long as he wasn't eaten, but he let Kion handle getting the leopard to leave.

Makucha growled... Kion wasn't playing along with Liki's lie. He continued backing up. His eyes widened, he stopped. "A cub can't tell me what to do." he said with a low growl. "The name's Makucha." he did answer. Not doing so would have him show fear, of course. He wanted to make fear!
He just continued growling, and he came closer. He wasn't being run off, worse, he was being.... told to apologize for this whole plot. These two were useless to him if they left victorious. But what could he do? He needed Kion to make a mistake, overstep. Or Liki to be terrified... as long as Kion was here he'd stay a brave, for a brat.
"Really, an apology?" he snorted. "I am being mean for a very good reason. To put cubs in their place."

Kion took in the silence from the pig as bad news. It meant he was likely scared and that was exactly what he did not want. Makucha had no right to terrify the cubs or adults. Especially if the end goal was just terrifying them. Kion was having none of that.
"I am not a cub, I am the Captain of the Lion Guard, and if you dont k ot enough to understand you should apologise then I will have or order you to" the much smaller cat stepped forward to Makucha, showing no fear, just ferocity. He was certainly not playing around. "If you don't, I will have to get you out of the Pridelands, and make sure you know you are not welcome here anymore!"
Eyes narrowed as Kion got a growl. Most of it was... a show, yeah. For Liki. But it should help. Kion was aware his role was the most ferocious. But he aso knew that, as a leader, his job was to inspire. Spread his influence.
"Do you understand, leopard Makucha?"

After darting back behind the rocks once more, Liki listened, trying to tell by the leopard's voice if he was moving farther away or not. It seemed so. Seemed like Kion was doing his job. The piglet gulped as Makucha said scaring cubs was his whole mission. That probably meant any young animal, him included.
Oh...he really wished the leopard would just leave already...as Liki backed further up to the rock himself he stepped on something. A stick, he saw. At first he thought nothing about it, but then...
Wait if his sounder with tusks wasn't here...he still could not be that in anyway but maybe...
He picked the stick up in his mouth, just one would do for now, and it was more about show. He still didn't come fully from around the rock, and still let Kion take it, but showed as much bravery as he could, "Y-yea...or...fwen Prin' Kion's dun I--I'll puk ya!", he said around the stick in his mouth, When Prince Kion was done he would poke him...
It sounded more intimidating before he said it...but maybe just the act of not showing fear would help.

Makucha growled, but it was a different sort of growl. The growl of mulling over his options and being displeased about them. "Grr..." he knew he couldn't do much more, he didn't want any serious trouble, yet. He wanted fear, not a fight.
"I understand." he said after mulling it over. "I'm not scared of you, Kion." he said, "But it is clear you're too stupid to know what I can do to you. If I wanted." he smirked, looking over at Liki. "Cute." he frowned, "Not scared of me, huh?" he rolled his eyes, "Then ugh... sorry for trying to scare you."

Kion had a good answer to what Makucha said: You would be surprised! But... It didn't really sound that well. He realized it and decided to go a different route "I know you do not want trouble with me, Makucha." His tone was firm and strong. Kion was not scared, and the low grown on his throat passed the fiercest part really well.
Kion looked surprised when the pig showed up with a... stick. A smile grew on his lips as he watched Liki... defend himself? That was rather brave! kil felt proud of, and proud of himself for apparently offering enough protection that he was doing his job right: Keeping pridelanders from fearing mean kitties or spotted thugs.
But he returned his eyes to Makucha, now standing side by side, the two... defenders of the Pridelands? Liki would have to grow a bit more before he could aspire the guard, but right now, it worked very well.
And the apologies came... Kion lifted his snout proudly. "Thank you, Makucha. Now, you may go." And he nodded forward, which would be back for the spotted leopard.

It seemed to work! The leopard backed off anyway. Liki wasn't sure if it was due to his showing no fear, but...maybe, and if it was, it did inspire the piglet to be a bit braver. Within safe confines of course...
He even got an apology. Sort of.
Liki really didn't want to push his luck, but gave a small oink to back up Kion's point. He wasn't aspiring to the Guard, or not currently at at his size, but not cowering was a good goal for the moment.

Makucha continued his growl, it was clear he would back down but at the same time, he hadn't been taught a lesson.
He was not pleased at Liki standing next to Kion, as if his threat had any value... he wondered if he could insult Kion as he left, but his pride overruled that play.
"I'll show myself out, thanks." he scoffed, "Grr..." he growled as he left, running a slow jog away, turning back, growling again, and then running off into the distance, straight into the... nearest part of the backlands. Kion would doubtfully pick up on his plans there, but... this might be of note later.
